“She’s Got Nothing On” single postponed to January 28?

The Swedish music shops www.bengans.se, www.ginza.se and www.cdon.se have moved the release date of Roxette’s forthcoming single “She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio)” to January 28 from the previous January 10. Without a confirmation by management so far we can’t say if this rescheduling is part of Roxette’s global release plan or just a local adjustment, maybe even a database error.

If January 28 gets confirmed, the gap between single and album (still at February 11) will be shortened from 4 to 2 weeks, while advanced airplay could get increased from a couple of days to 2-3 weeks.

Update: Also amazon.de lists the single for January 28.

  1. Hmm, I liked the longer single-album gap. While airplay has a bit more time now to pick up before the release. But let’s see if it stays like that. 😉

  2. It would make more sense to have single released on January 28th after 3 weeks of airplay than just after several days. Let’s wait and see what happens.

  3. Isn’t it possible that january 10th is the digital releasedate? And maybe it was that they meant from the beginning?

  4. maybe 10th Jan was the radio play start? even though to me it doesn’t make sense to release then the single weeks later :S Shouldn’t it be available for purchase if somebody listens to it and wants to have it? :S

  5. AFAIK we got the initial single date only through Per, it was not mentioned in the press release. So maybe he referred to the projected airplay start?

The traditional idea of releasing a single weeks after airplay start is to build up momentum for a high chart entry and gaining attention from that. In times of downloads the gap shouldn’t be so big anymore but I think 2-3 weeks is okay. Do you think all international radio will get/pick it up already on January 4? Me not.
