Roxette at “Wetten, dass..?”

After 20 years Roxette will finally take part at the German TV show “Wetten, dass..?”. On February 12th, Roxette will perform a Greatest Hits medley at the show which will be broadcast from Halle. The show is on German channel ZDF and the biggest TV show in German television – around 8-10 million people usually watch the programme.

Unfortunately, tickets for this one show are already sold out.

  1. Wow, I can’t believe it finally happens!! We always hoped for this! Even when Wetten Dass…? heydey may be over, the show still reaches around 10,000,000 viewers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. 😀

  2. Still the biggest show in Europa today, Wetten Dass…? is still a mega-show here in Germany. I cant understand people saying it is not as big as in earlier days…

    Thats great!

  3. I’ve now become used to this thing of TV and playbacks 🙁
Does anyone know if Roxette will do yet another playback version or go the live route?
Any chance of seeing this if one is outside of Europe?

  4. Sascha, TDR doesn’t know more than we do. I believe what’s written on ZDF site: Greatest Hits medley. Nothing more, nothing less. Unless they update their site.

    • Yes, I heard so. Well, I’m pretty sure they’ll end the medley in the new single. I can’t remember an act there who didn’t present something new.

  5. The stream is said to be only available in Germany, at least it is so right now as I’m writing this comment. So if you can pretend you’re from Germany it might work 😉
To watch the live stream just go to http://www.zdf.de and click the link “ZDFmediathek” (one of that grey buttons on top). Should open a new window/tap where you have to click “LIVE” (again on top). Now you’ll see a list with the coming live stuff on the right, on the left there’s the current show. Click there and the stream starts.

    • Thanks Kerstin 🙂 Good directions. My family tree dates back to Germany so I might as well pretend I’m from Germany!
Ok now to wait until the 12th of Feb!!

  6. 28-01-11: According to a press release on EMI Germany’s website (http://www.emimusic.de/presse/3180), Roxette are performing a medley of “The Look” and “It Must Have Been Love” along with “She’s Got Nothing On (But the Radio)” on “Wetten, dass…?”. What’s also interesting is what the article says about the German release of “Charm School”: The album is published by EMI Germany in co-operation with Starwatch Entertainment, which is a subsidiary firm of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group. The latter also operates five private free TV stations – Sat.1, Pro7, Kabel eins, 9Live and sixx – whose market shares add up to more than 20 % (as of 2010). The article quotes Uli Mücke, Vice President New Music, EMI Music Germany, as saying: “The co-operation with Starwatch Entertainment is a perfect match when it comes to revitalising the brand ’Roxette’ and achieving successful sales. All the better that the album ’Charm School’ builds on the typical Roxette sound and the first single off the album, ’She’s Got Nothing On (But the Radio),’ kicks it off perfectly. Their performance on ’Wetten, dass…?’ will add a finishing touch to the launch of the album.” It looks as though EMI would be doing a better job than they used to this time around… 🙂
