Pure Bliss for 15 000 Roxette Fans in Bulgaria’s Capital Sofia

Fifteen thousand Roxette fans traveled from all parts of Bulgaria and neighboring countries to watch Sunday night the Sofia gig of the Swedish duo, Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson, part of their long-anticipated world tour.

The crowd went wild as Gessle’s guitar and Fredriksson’s voice were able to produce the same quality of music that they first shared with an adoring world more than 20 years ago.

  1. Hi there: I little report from Sofia:

    THE SONGS
“Silver blue” was played instead of “Stars” for the hardcore fans, as announced by Per, and “Way out” was skipped, which is a pity given the audience response. Before Joyride Christoffer played “Hubava si moia goro”, which I doubt was played in Greece as suggested in RXB, since it has nothing to do with Greece I think!

    THE GREAT AUDIENCE
It started raining heavily just before Roxette appeared and this helped us from the audience to make a significant improvement in our positions: there were chairs on the stadium pitch on which we were supposed to be sitting in fron of the stage, but suddenly we organized ourselves so that everyone was up on their feet – in fact we all stepped ON the chairs and not in front of them. The crowd was great I think, despite the rain. We had great fun and it seemed Roxette also. There were several people in the front rows with great self-made Rox t-shirts, plus they let some balloons during Joyride, which made Per smile and Magnus tried to kick one of the balloons and his micro fell! I also had my Per t-shirt and someone in the crowd even took a picture of me!

    THE GREAT BAND
I liked especially Christoffer`s and Magnus` movements and jumping. Marie was great, almost perfect!!! Per was awesome as always!

    THE GREAT EXPERIENCE
What can I say? I`m just happy that this isn`t my last Rox concert (I hope)! The feeling that they are actually in front, so close, singing and playing so well, so rocking, that great energy from us and from them… wow!

    • In Athens it was “Zorba” – sorry, I just copied and paste into Greek thread as well 🙂 Thanks for info regarding SB and WO!

  2. Hi firediamond, I’ll search you in Facebook!

In fact, before the concert I was a little afraid that the crowd would be cold with all those stupid chairs which gave that opera-feeling and the neverending beer ads, but I was really surprised at the response. I felt less weird shouting and singing all the time:)

And of course the self-made T-shirts were far better designed than the official ones. Regarding the balloons, on the Youtube videos you can hear Per shouting “yeah” as soon as he sees the balloons, so your effort was worht it:)

  3. I didn’t know what to expect in Sofia and I was afraid that at my first Roxette concert I would be the only one standing and shouting and dancing…boy was I wrong! Everyone was so excited and I ended up standing on one of the chairs in the front row because I couldn’t see…the spotlights were so pretty shining down on the rain splashing on the stage. I came from the US for this show and was not disappointed!
