The Official press release re Charm School Revisted:
Charm School Revisited – To be released November 28th
2011 has been a fantastic year for Roxette. A great comeback with a tremendous success both with the album “Charm School” and the ongoing world tour, which has been seen by more than 700 000 people all over the world.
Roxette will now end this year with a special package of the “Charm School” album, a 2-CD 6page digi pack including the original album and a bonus CD.
The additional CD includes “The Demos”, which is actually Per Gessles original demos for the songs on “Charm School”, most of them recorded in the T & A studio in his hometown Halmstad. A fascinating and interesting look into Per’s songwriting.
The bonus CD ends up with remixes of the singles “She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio)” and “Speak To Me”.
The album will be released on November 28th and will be available both as a digital and a physical product.

this is how it was written in the press release
what a great ROX YEAR 2011!!!
This is really nice present. We all loves demos, don’t we? It’ll be great to hear how it all sounded in the very begining, esp. songs like Radio, Speak To Me or Cadillac.
Finaly some bonus product JUST for fans. And new album next year, new documentary, maybe some more European gigs…. Gyllene tider for a Rox fan nowadays after this decade of “nothingness”.
Personally I am not a fan of demos, they bore me. And I assume these will be the kind of sort of acoustic/raw demos with only a guitar or so, not like the more produced demos from the early 90’s. I don’t think I am going to buy the album again, frankly.
I mostly agree with Raëlian’s view on the demos, also because i’m no big fan of Per’s ballad vocals. Demos are nice to listen for analysis, but could be a bit weak for a full album. I hope there’s some of the NOTP “in between” versions as well! And a fine packaging could be a big bonus.
Nice presents, but I think I am gonna pass on this one. Not a fan of demo myself, but I thank Roxette for spoiling us so much these last few years.
Sascha, you’re right, it’s alll about analysing… 😀
Well, I’m also not such a big fan of the Per-alone-demos, because to me they sound all alike in a way. But there are a few really good demos- Remember the “Stockholm demo version” of Sleeping in my car or the demo “One is such a lonley number”. Or remember the Roxbox-demo-version of “Cry” which is amazing and much better than the slightly boring original version!! I really cross my fingers that the demos won’t be Per alone!
Nevertheless, I’m really curious about the project, even if I don’t buy the CDs, I will surely download the demos and remixes on amazon! Somebody has to tell me before if there is a new booklet! 😉
To say true, esp. demos for Room Service are almost all better than the final album versions. I know latest Per demos are too simply, but still it’s nice to hear the differences between an idea and final result to me. And Something In the System Rox demo from Jan 2002 is one of the absolutely best Rox (Per only) songs. So I’ll for sure buy this piece of music.
love demos!! 😀
Just out of curiosity I want to hear these demos! Some of the released demo’s off TWATG are actually VERY nice! Per’s demo’s like I Want You To Know (Demo 1996); Makin’ Love To You (Demo 1996); Beautiful Things Terrible Things (Demo 1996); Every Day Outside My Window (Demo 1995); I’ll Be Alright (Demo 1994) are classic and I frequently listen to it.
The fans are a bit spoilt with the new album and the world tour!! + the promise of a another new album + live dvd! Come to think of it if this demo or any Roxette demo album for that matter were to be released before the announcement of the original Charm School album the fans would have JUMPED at the opportunity to get a new Roxette cd !! How strange we are indeed.
It’s great to get this demo songs. But I think there should be a way to buy the Bonus CD alone, for those who already got the original “Charm School” CD. I don’t like it to buy a CD again which I already bought.
As far as re-purchasing Charm School goes, here’s hoping the Revisited album (CD1) has the LP versions of “No One Makes It On Her Own” and “Speak To Me” so there’s at least *something* different to offer the fans between the 2 releases.
I’m also excited about the TWAG-style approach of this release. As such, I’d love to see “Stars (Live)” added for completion’s sake and so it gets a proper CD release.
Overall, this feels like Per & Marie are truly giving us everything they can from this reformation era of Roxette between this release and the forthcoming 2rism project and live concert/documentary stuff. Nitpicks above aside, it’s a great time to be a Rox fan. Thanks to Per & Marie!
I personally love demo’s sometimes more than the finished product, so I am especially looking forward to this release!
