Don’t bore us… with another compilation, dear EMI.

EMI is just a day from being sold off to a bidder that gives the biggest price. Probably it will be Universal Music or some other group with international branches. In this very meantime EMI Germany (one of those few EMI offices that actually did something positive for Roxette in the last two years) is releasing a very special 4-CD box called “Die ultimative Hit-Kollektion” for “just” EUR 49.99. It does includes an iconic Joyride-era picture with Roxette logo from Charm School album on the front cover.

If you have too much money in times of economical crisis, you can purchase your copy here & only – at Shop24direct.de. If you think we deserve something better – for instance – releases of legendary Roxette concerts from Sweden, Switzerland, Australia or South Africa in a decent format (and we’re not thinking about a stereo VHS), just give us a shout in the comment section.

Here below you can find the tracklist of the new box.

Official Roxette channel on YouTube?

You may have noticed that it got harder and harder to find official Roxette music videos on YouTube in the past months. That banning of “official” content is a matter of copyright issues between YouTube, music labels and the recording rights organisations. Now it appears that a user called “roxette” uploaded all the Roxette videos into a channel called “Roxette”.

Well, the channel already exists since 2006 but the videos only got uploaded 2 weeks ago. According to the channel page, it’s an official YouTube partner based in Sweden. Who’s behind this? EMI, Per or the management? Or just a fan – despite the “partner” tag? What speaks for EMI is the rather low video quality… but at least they’re available again!

PS. Um, the presence of “Fireworks” may speak against Per… ;)

Update: EMI Germany is linking to this channel! www.youtube.com/roxette works as well. Looks pretty official!

New Roxette picture

Per and Marie met for an interview about “The Look” and sent a brand new Roxette picture with it.

“A brand new photo of Roxette at EMI Studios, Stockholm. Roxette has been interviewed by Magnus Broni who’s making a documentary about “The Look.” Magnus has been all over the US interviewing Brian Philips (former EMI boss) and Dean Cushman (former exchange student), among others.”

Update: Another new picture has been uploaded to roxette.se. Have a look at the sheet of paper. Looks like the NOTP arrangement, ain’t it?

Official Trailer Video for Nokia Night of the Proms

There’s a new official trailer for the German leg of the Night of the Proms tour! Meanwhile EMI Germany updated their Roxette site with some news and tour dates.

Per Gessle revealed on Twitter yesterday that they are already rehearsing in some form. When asked about fans at The Daily Roxette worrying regarding the NOTP tour schedule and performance, Per supports “Lennon’s” opinion.

Per’s comment on re-releases.

The reason why EMI is re-releasing and re-mastering all the Rox albums is because they are out of print in some territories. Also, the sound was not up to date. Some albums are really old, folks! So… it’s not EMI’s intention (or Roxette’s for that matter) to make these albums “collector items” or fill them with demos and unreleased stuff. We’ll find other ways to do that, trust me.

Cheers, P.

Per has nothing to do with Roxette re-release?

Per wrote on Twitter:

Yea, 3 songs on each album. Several more digitally. iTunes I think. It’s EMI who’s running this, not me.

More about Roxette re-releases.

More about Roxette re-release:

Pearls of passion, 1986 (3 bonus tracks e.g. Neverending Love [Tits and Ass demo 1986])
Look sharp!, 1988 (3 bonus tracks)
Joyride, 1991 (3 bonus tracks e.g. “The sweet hello, the sad goodbye”)
Tourism, 1992 (2 bonus tracks e.g. “Fingertips ’93″)
Crash!Boom!Bang!, 1994 (3 bonus tracks e.g. “Almost unreal”)
Have a nice day, 1999 (3 bonus tracks)
Room service, 2001 (3 bonus tracks)

My comment: It’s strange that there are so little bonus tracks. As you may recall, Pearls of Passion (1997 edition) got 8 bonus tracks and now we will get 5 less. Hope to get really nice booklets instead :-)

Roxette albums to be rereleased on September 30th

According to EMI Sweden the remastered Roxette albums will be released on September 30th. The albums come with bonus tracks and a brand new booklet. So far the date is not confirmed by Per Gessle or EMI, we’re referring to the information EMI Sweden is giving on their homepage. So this could also only be the release date for the remastered albums in Sweden.
