NOTP tour: Good news for the next shows

Night of the Proms logoThe international NOTP fanpage provides some fresh info regarding the past and next shows – obviously they spoke/mailed with producer Jan Vereecke:

In our review of the premiere on the 23th of October we concluded that overall the show was good but we complained about the problems regarding the sound. During the rehearsals, Jan reported the sound to be good, but since there is a difference between the sound in an empty and a full arena… The problem is solved now and the quality of the sound became much better. That is good news.

During the weekend, Marie of Roxette got an infection of her throat which caused her voice to be less on the show of last Saturday. Immediatly she was put on medication. On Sunday she sang a lot better and her voice will be back to full strenght from Wednesday on. Also good news.

The running order of the premiere is still applied; the proof that the show was well prepared and jugded by the organization so that no adaption had to be made. Again, good news.

Question of the release for a CD of the Antwerp and The Netherlands edition was not denied by Jan. He wrote:”PERHAPS…”. Wouldn’t that be good news?

Update: Producer Jan Vereecke writes within a post about reactions to the first shows:

… And then Marie was so ill on Saturday that she could barely sing, and it nevertheless has disappointed some people (understandably). … The report of yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) is that her voice got much stronger, but she still suffers a bad cough. We cross fingers for this evening. I hope that we can do a smooth show when Marie’s voice completely returned. …

NOTP Countdown: Interview and impressions

After the full rehearsals yesterday, NOTP producer Jan Vereecke looks very impressed by Marie’s big metamorphosis on stage. He writes on his blog:

I think I’m perhaps most impressed by the rapid metamorphosis of Marie from Roxette: at the first rehearsal a little withheld, but now very strong, certainly the vocals – that bodes well for tomorrow.

I also believe we have no idea of what an emotion the Swedish guests will express when Per and Marie stand on stage. No doubt welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd… There will be many wiping tears away tomorrow …

Then there’s an interview with Per and Marie in Belgian paper “Nieuwsblad”. We’re hoping for a proper translation or summary of that. Just a teaser: Album. Recordings in hotelroom. Please leave your comment! 😀

Also an interview on Belgian radio JoeFM this morning.

Edit: R2R user spyboo provides us a short summary of some interesting parts.

Roxette have a full recording studio in their hotelroom, so they can jam and work on a new album. Marie has kept singing during her illness, as it keeps her strong. After the small concerts she gave last year, she felt the need to come back with Roxette.

Per has a lot of respect for Toots Thielemans (87 year old Belgian musician, who’s also playing at the Proms). Next to the shows and recording, they are just going to enjoy the time. Per thinks about buying some diamonds and going to the zoo with his son, as they have a new baby elephant here.

NOTP Countdown: the official report from rehearsals

Source: Twitter

Edit: Project_Z provides a translation of the Roxette part.

Marie is really happy to be here. It’s possible more satisfying for her than for us. It’s a salvation for her to be finally here, … it brings back many memories and emotions…
It’s a party… fantastic popsongs from the swedish ’school’… ABBA is the biggest icon and Roxette is a close second with many worldwide hits, songs which are very translatable for orchestra…

NOTP Countdown: Successful rehearsals, time to meet and relax

Proms producer Jan Vereecke comments the day on his blog:

To everyone’s joy, the latest rehearsals this afternoon with Roxette have been completed sooner as anticipated. This evening all foreign guest artists will enjoy a cosy dinner in a restaurant near the hotel. Extensive soundchecks on the big stage are scheduled for tomorrow afternoon and a first real show rehearsal later on the evening.

Thanks Pascal for the tip/translation!
