“She’s Got Nothin On (But The Radio)” remixes on the way!

As Per Gessle revealed recently, Roxette’s new single is getting some remixes. Now Björn Engelmann from Cutting Room Studios wrote that he was mastering the remixes yesterday. So we should see a release of those pretty soon! We don’t know yet if on Maxi-CD, a special remix single or download.

Meanwhile the video for the single got 100,000 views on MyVideo (exclusive video site for EMI artists in Germany, Austria and Switzerland) already in 4 days. Compared with the current competition there a great success!

Roxette’s new video now working and unblocked – Vote!

As fans mentioned and started to report yesterday certain countries could not view the new video to ‘She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio)’ due to it being blocked, however it now seems like the problem has been fixed [at least in some countries] so head on over to YouTube and see if it works for you now!

If it still doesn’t, here’s the official MyVideo link for Germany (already 30,000 views!), official Dailymotion link and Mats Udd’s video channel on Vimeo.

Don’t forget to vote for the video on the pages mentioned above (click on the 5 stars ;)). And of course, view it, we (they) need as many views and highest vote as possible! 🙂

RoxRequest – get active and support Roxette’s new single

Many fans are organising themselves in some countries to support Roxette wherever they can with the single.

Of course, one of the most effective actions is to contact your local radio station and request Roxette, I am sure you have done that many times before by calling the radio station. Times change though, and with the possibilities social media and internet offer, much of it can be done via Facebook or email.

Yesterday, for example, a group of German fans joined the Facebook pages of various German and Austrian radios to request the song. In Spain, the Spanish Fanclub has distributed email addresses of radio stations where the single was distributed so fans can request the song.

We are planning another request action – or as we use to call it, roxattaq – for this weekend in Spain and Germany. We will in short give you more details about that.  Let us know if you are organising such RoxRequest activities in your country so we can list it here as well!

We have also written down some additonal information about this on a new page.

“She’s Got Nothing On” out in Spain and reaches #12 on iTunes

Roxette’s new single is out in Spain via iTunes since yesterday. Funny how, the single reached #12 in the iTunes charts and that without promotion, since the promotion on radios won’t start until this weekend. The highest position was reached in Sweden so far: #10.

You can see an overview of all iTunes charts on this website.

There are no confirmed dates for Spain yet, it will probably depend on the sales of the single and specially the album, but if it goes on like this, no promoter could ever say no!

We’ll keep you informed!

Update Jan 13: The single has reached #10 in Spain as well!

Making of the new video. La-la-la-lies.

If you read an article in today’s Aftonbladet, so forget about it. It was written there that extras for the “She’s got nothing on (but the radio)” video did not receive any money (though they agreed on those conditions) and had no food…

According to Aftonbladet and translated by welchemusic.com – the extras had been promised some food but had to content with nothing but coffee and white bread (nothing but the radio would have been better!). A spokesperson for the production company apologized explaining that “it was a difficult location, but there was heat and no more than 30 people in the room. I would like to call these people and apologize as that we did not intend them to feel this way.”

Here is the director Mats Udd’s words of truth:

Got an email yesterday that Aftonbladet was looking for extras who had felt mistreated during the making of the video. A man named Michael Garderud (he previously found a plastic in food – read more about it in Svenska Dagbladet’s article) was an extra on the Roxette video we did. He even wrote on his blog that it was a good recording. But he changed his mind when he read my interview that “”it was fun to work with a big budget”. He called Aftonbladet and said how he had been mistreated during the filming. It is of course amazingly boring, a making of the video should always be enjoyable and as comfortable as possible, especially if you are there for free. But before you cry out in Aftonbladet, you should know that a high budget to me is not a particularly high budget, I have made budget videos throughout 2010 for no more than 20,000 SEK. That is how it looks like, there is no money in the Swedish music video world – but Michael does not know that. Since Roxette has nothing to do with the recording, so the news’ value is approximately equal to zero.

Bravo to Mats then. The video for the single should be available in any day now.

“She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio)” reviews trickle in

As a reaction of the premature single release last friday the first music websites and blogs already posted initial reviews of Roxette’s new single. Here’s some excerpts:

The song sounds like classic Roxette with a modern twist. With an amazing sense of melody and the unique mix of Marie Fredriksson’s and Per Gessle’s voices, She’s Got Nothing On has the potential to be the biggest single from the duo since “Joyride”, their last Canadian number one hit in 1991.

Rockstar Weekly

As for us, well we just think it’s a good song really! … Retro guitars and huge drum beats are mixed up in a pop mould, and it gives the song a sugar coating that would make any pill easier to swallow. Melody wise, the chorus is very Roxette – soaring and anthemic.

… a return to form for the Swedish hit makers. The soaring vocal melodies are what one would expect to hear from a band that created some of the biggest hits of the 80s and 90s. If promoted properly, “She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio)” could be poised to garner the band a whole new audience of music fans.

From the Pop In Stereo article we already mentioned.

Too little Marie, the very echo of the past.
No, the first Roxette single in several years is not a grand comeback.

Expressen gives 2/5 bees, like in the good old times…

Hopefully the label also gives the pair another shot in the States, as well, with “She’s Got Nothing On”, because if Per Gessle’s composition proves only one thing, it’s that he’s still at the top of the game when it comes to Swede pop perfection. We think Roxette are still looking sharp. What say you?

If you find other reviews/article (without illegal download links of the song) please let us know! Popular magazines/websites preferred of course – not the private blog of your neighbour… 😉

Mats Udd for RunToRoxette.com: Roxette wanted to have a happy video

RunToRoxette.com site did an interesting interview with Mats Udd, the director of the latest Roxette video for “She’s got nothing on (but the radio)” single. The interview is English and you can read it here.

Here is one of the most interesting answers Mats gave:

What is the spirit of the video for “She’s got nothing on (But The Radio)”?
I actually sent four ideas which was very different from eachother and they pick the last one and it was the most brightest idea cos they wanted a happy video. So that’s the spirit of the video, happiness but I tried to do it with a little twist. Of course, I wanted to go much deeper into weirdness but I guess that wouldn’t be true to the Roxette fans haha.

First Review Of ‘Leaked’ She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio) Get’s Thumbs Up!

The Website ‘Pop In Stereo’ is possibly the first to review the new Roxette single after it’s leak on the internet yesterday. The single has received both positive and negative comments from fans around the world, but it predominantly seems all positive and fans seem in high spirits that Roxette are back again!

The review of the single which was published on their website yesterday on New Year’s Eve, talks about the new album ‘Charm School’ and where the album has been recorded and who is behind the production of the album as well as giving the release date.

As for the single, it gets a big thumbs up from the reviewer in which they describe soaring vocal melodies and say it is what you would expect to hear from a band that created some of the biggest hits of the 80s and 90s. They also say if the single is promoted properly, ‘She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio)’ could be poised to acquiring Roxette a whole new audience of music fans.

To protect the policies of the Roxette Blog I am unable to link to the site, but feel this is most certainly a newsworthy article as the website Pop In Stereo attracts a lot of visitors!

Yet another snippet of “She’s got nothing on (but the radio) online

German JPC.de has added Roxette’s new single “She’s got nothing on (but the radio)” to their catalogue, including a snippet of the single. The 30 seconds are slightly different than the ones published by Amazon.de ten days ago.

Thanks again Daniel Kühn for finding and posting it!

Rumours: Roxette to perform a new single on the New Year’s Eve Party in Warsaw

In Polsat TV’s news programme “Wydarzenia” there was a short report about Roxette’s career today. Roxette should arrive at Warsaw Chopin Airport on Friday morning. The Polsat TV journalist even claimed that Roxette might perform a new single in Warsaw on December 31st. Time will tell if is possible…

This TV report will be uploaded on You Tube shortly.

Thanks to Polish roxette.pl Facebook fans for this piece of information.

Rumours: First pictures from Udd’s video

Mats Udd, on his own blog site, published some photos from the making of the “She’s got nothing on (but the radio)” video. On December 21st, the second day of the recordings, Mats posted 4 photos – on that Tuesday “the story part” was recorded. It is unknown if these photograpies are some scences from the video or just the people behind this clip.

Per Gessle has informed us today that he just got hold of the first version of the She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio)-video clip and that it looks promising. The premiere is schedule on January 7th.
