Roxette In Concert 2025 – Sydney – 8th March 2025 – #5

No day off after the Melbourne show, the gang travelled to Sydney. In February 2015 Roxette did two concerts there, one at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt, the other at Qantas Credit Union Arena. This time they performed at ICC Sydney Theatre that was dressed for success for the show with its digital façade.

Support act Boom Crash Opera went on stage at 7.00 pm and Roxette entered the stage after 8.15 pm.

The crowd in Sydney had to do their best to beat the audience of the first Oz gig on this tour and they were indeed loud when singing along to all those amazing Roxette hits. And the band? They get tighter and tighter by every show!

The setlist remained the same as in Melbourne, so Things Will Never Be The Same was not played tonite either. One change was that Vulnerable is now not sung as a duet, but it is sung by Per. As he says under the backstage rehearsal video: “Going back to the original idea of “Vulnerable” with me singing both verses. That’s how it was written. Feels good.” Fabulousness!!! Keep it as it is forever, Per!

Roxette In Concert 2025 – Melbourne – 7th March 2025 – #4

After a day off, the second Oz gig happened in Melbourne. Last time Roxette visited this city was in February 2015 on the 30th anniversary tour. Then they played at Rod Laver Arena, this time they performed at Margaret Court Arena next door. Since the show got sold out in July 2024, another date was added at the end of this leg of the tour.

Support act Boom Crash Opera went on stage at 7.00 pm and Roxette entered the stage after 8.15 pm.

Per, Lena and the band were in top shape, full of passion and they performed in front of 7,500 l.o.u.d. party people in the audience.

The only change in the setlist was that Things Will Never Be The Same was not performed and Wish I Could Fly got to TWNBTS’s spot before Vulnerable. Hopefully, when they come back to Melbourne to close the Australian leg on 18th March, the crowd can hear TWNBTS too.

Roxette In Concert 2025 – Perth – 5th March 2025 – #3

After an amazing opening show and an awesome second concert in South Africa, the Roxette gang arrived in Perth, Australia two days before the first Oz gig. They didn’t have much time to recover from jetlag, but they seemed to enjoy their day off in the city and next to the pool in hot hot hot Australia.

Last time Roxette visited Perth was in February 2015 on the 30th anniversary tour. Then they played at Perth Arena, this time they performed at beautiful Kings Park & Botanic Garden. The gates opened at 5.00 pm local time, support act Boom Crash Opera went on stage at 5.30 pm, Jon Stevens at 6.45 pm and Roxette entered the stage a couple of minutes after 8.00 pm.

I spotted photographer Anders Roos in vids and pics from the show, so we will surely see some fab pro shots on this leg of the tour.

10 years passed since the last Australian Rox gigs, but the crowd still remembered the lyrics and sang along loudly. Per & Lena & the whole band were very energetic and enjoyed performing Down Under. Lena could feel as welcomed in Oz as in South Africa.

Thank you Perth!! I was very surprised to see this banner in the audience saying ”Vetlanda”! Because that’s the small town in Sweden that I grew up in!! I felt at home.

Per Gessle to take Roxette on a world tour in 2025 – Australian leg

Roxette were a hit-making machine in Australia achieving four x Top 3 albums with Look Sharp!, Joyride, Tourism and Crash! Boom! Bang!, hit songs Dressed For Success, Listen To Your Heart, Dangerous, Fading Like A Flower, and number one singles The Look, It Must Have Been Love and Joyride.

2025 will see a live revival of this massive catalogue, all penned by Roxette’s frontman Per Gessle, when he takes the band back on stage to do what he loves the most; perform his songs live in front of a dedicated audience.

Per and the Roxette band will be joined on stage by Swedish singer Lena Philipsson offering fans the chance to reconnect with the group’s timeless hits.

When on Australian TV Per speaks about his decision to reform the band after Marie’s death and their last performance in 2016, he says:

It’s been a tough decision to make. My partner in Roxette, Marie, passed away in 2019, so I didn’t really know what to do with this catalogue of songs. I decided to not start a new duo, but to hire a good friend of mine who is also an amazing singer and amazing performer. Lena Philipsson is actually a superstar here in Sweden.

The tour coincided with the band’s resurgence in popularity:

I don’t know if it is the right time — I just feel like it is a big world out there who still enjoys the Roxette songs. I want to do an homage to the Roxette catalogue. It is not about new music, it is about the old hits.

Per praises Lena’s style:

She is very different from Marie, of course, but she’s got her own style and I think she’s going to fit the Roxette songs perfectly well. We haven’t started rehearsing or anything, but we played some songs together and it sounded terrific. I’m really happy.

Nine years since the last tour, Roxette In Concert will begin the Australian leg in Perth, before playing shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Wollongong, Adelaide, and Hobart. These will be followed by a day on the green shows at the Hunter Valley’s Bimbadgen and Mount Cotton’s Sirromet Wines.

Opening for Roxette will be one of Australia’s biggest names in rock, Jon Stevens (Perth and a day on the green shows only), and Aussie pop rock superstars Boom Crash Opera (all shows).

Roxette will play eight shows across Australia in March 2025.
