Roxette played this year’s 15th show in Vienna, Austria last night. The gang performed at the Donauinsel Open Air with support act James Cottriall.
The stage was very different from what we’ve become used to. This time, it featured a catwalk and we had already been wondering how much our bloved band would use it. We were quite sure that Christoffer and Lena would give it a go, but we didn’t really expect Per to walk all the way to the front.
As we predicted, Lena rocked the catwalk and Dea also joined her there during Stars. Chris also played his guitar there several times as well, and to our surprise, Per was also curious to see what it felt like to be right at the very front. So when he didn’t need the mic, he walked down the catwalk, i.e. during the intro to How Do You Do!, when he lets the audience start singing the song, and briefly during Joyride.
It would have been great if they had come to the front to perform Spending My Time, but Lena and Per only walked together to the middle of the catwalk to take a bow at the end of the show.
Anyway, the band was in top shape, full of smiles and energy, and the audience of 6,500 had a great time.
Chris played The Blue Danube as the intro to Joyride while Per and Magnus danced a few lovely Viennese waltz steps. Haha.

Vienna! Oh my God! Such a wonderful way to spend a Wednesday evening in the summer. Amazing crowd + pretty decent band = jackpot! We have to do this again!
