Gyllene Tider – Hux Flux – Kalmar – 21st July 2023 – #9

Kalmar! Last night’s show became one of the Top3 gigs so far on this tour. Fab mood on stage, loud sing-along crowd. What else could you ask for? Billy? Yes! He is back too!

It’s always nice to have a fun security team at the concerts. The security guys in Kalmar certainly belong to that group. Dancing and singing along, enjoying life while working. Love that! It’s also lovely to see Åsa still enjoying all GT songs and dancing along while filming what’s happening on stage.

There must be something new in the process of fixing Per’s in-ear system, because last night he had some problems with it again. From the first song you could see it was uncomfortable for him how it was fixed on his back. New tape? New cable? Or just a new person fixing it? Whatever. Change back to the procedure you used until 2 gigs before, haha.

The ginger tea mix Micke Syd prepared for PG last night tasted like lakrits according to Mr. G. Haha.

When Per started talking about the „tribute to their favourite Dutch band” and he said we might be wondering what that band could be, some in the front row spoiled the fun with shouting „Shocking Blue”. Per ignored it, but Micke Syd said „there are some who saw more than one show on this tour”. Haha. Per also laughed and he went on according to his usual script mentioning Focus and Ekseption. He said he saw Ekseption in 1973, but it wasn’t his thing. He said Anders was 12 and he saw them too, from the front row. Anders corrected him by saying he wasn’t there, because he was on a curfew, sorry. Micke Syd’s George Baker Selection moment ended up in a loud „ojojoj ojojojoj” after a little „una paloma blanca”. Sounded cool! Micke Syd appreciated it with a „boom shaka laka”. Haha. Then Per said they got hooked on a band called Shocking Blue, the ones in the front were right, he pointed at them, so his translation of Send Me A Postcard got played.

Before Flickan i en Cole Porter-sång, Micke N-S brought the checkered blue and black acoustic guitar on stage, but Per walked off stage to the left side and asked technician Peter Fredriksson from the crew to do something with his in-ear system. Peter tried his best, but later we could see nothing had changed. When Per came back after a few seconds, the audience cheered him and he told us he had problems with the cables on his back. Micke N-S was sitting in front of the drums until then. He hopped up when Per got back on stage, but since he started to talk, Micke sat back. Then PG waved to him that he could bring the guitar.

Before Tuffa tider, Per said the ukulele is the world’s sexiest instrument and if in winter you are on Costa del Sol, you can see Micke Syd playing ukulele there. He is playing Gyllene Tider hits and Freestyle and Lili & Susie songs. Micke Syd laughed and said Här kommer alla känslorna works damn good in Marbella.

During the band presentation, after saying that Anders is the band’s best soccer player and Micke Syd is their wonderful drummer, Per thought he would have enough time to go off stage again to have the in-ear system cables fixed. He seemed to forget that Micke would introduce him too. Peter was trying to fix the problem again. Micke Syd went on with introducing PG, the best saved for last. „The one who plays ukulele, who is interested in driving cars and cars in general, the one who took a break again…, where is he? The magical Per Håkan Gessle!” PG rushed back on stage. Micke Syd said Per already had 2 pit stops on this gig, which is a new record that deserves a big applause. He got the tires changed, the oil level checked and the in-ear system taped. Haha.

Before Min tjej och jag, Micke said that at the rehearsals they tried the trick with Göran, that he was jumping on Micke Syd’s back how they did that in the Parkliv movie, but it doesn’t work anymore. Haha.

When the band went off stage before both encores, the audience was clapping and screaming loudly. This time, as I mentioned at the beginning, Billy found his way back to the setlist and was performed as the first song in the first encore. Welcome back! Please, stay forever!

Before the second encore, the crowd started singing Sommartider, of course. When the gang came back on stage, Per said they thought they would skip this song. „We play this one instead!” När vi två blir en got a loud cheering from the audience and an even bigger party came when finally Sommartider was on.

PG thanked the crowd for a fab evening, wished everyone a fantastic summer and said he hopes we meet again and everyone takes care of each other.

Next stop is Ronneby on Saturday.

Gyllene Tider – Hux Flux – Skövde – 19th July 2023 – #8

The welcoming sign to Skövde was a Gyllene Tider LED screen with their old pic from the ’80s. There were also quite some posters in town to promote the event at Boulognerskogen. The band played here in 2019 too and that was a rainy show. This time there was no rain, but it was windy. So windy that for Uno Svenningsson’s session the technicians tried to set up the backdrop, but it was moving too much, so they decided to take it off.

Uno started at 20:00 and GT got on stage at 21:15. The LED wall was back after Lysekil and also the sidedrops were used, as well as the Hux Flux sign on top of the stage.

Because of the cold, ginger tea was brought to Per more times than usual. The mix Micke Syd prepares for PG each night tasted as strawberry again, Per said. It was a Töreboda special, Micke Syd said. While they were talking about this, Micke N-S, who already brought Per his next guitar, sat down in front of the drums and waited until Mr. G finished his talking.

Windy gigs mean plectrum-licking gigs. Haha. Both Per and Anders licked their picks several times, to make them stick to their fingers while playing. Regarding Per’s in-ear system, of which the cable is fixed on his back, something was wrong or at least uncomfortable. He was touching it on his neck many times and made some funny moves.

Before Tuffa tider, Per said the ukulele is the world’s sexiest instrument and if in winter you are on Costa del Sol, you might bump into Micke Syd playing ukulele there. Micke Syd said yes, he plays „una paloma blanca” and some GT hits. They sound very good in Spain.

When the band presentation started, Micke Syd disappeared for a little time – you’ll read it later, why – and Per started with the two fantasic ladies, who are singing divinely. Then came Halmstad’s own boogie king, MP. No party without Göran, PG said. When introducing Anders, he only said „Anders Herrlin on bass”, but Micke Syd added „he’s damn handsome”. Anders reacted with an „eh” in the mic. Micke Syd was introduced as GT’s spine and Micke introduced Per as the man, the myth, the legend and sports car fan. Haha.

Before Min tjej och jag, Micke said he would hang out in the front a bit more. He would sing a song. Per wrote it for him to sing in 1981 and back then Micke asked PG if it was something like the Yellow Submarine with Ringo. Ehm. Haha. Here it turned out why Micke disappeared. He opened his jacket and showed his T-shirt with a picture of him and his wife, Helena. He said they would have their 18th wedding anniversary tomorrow, so he dedicated the song to her. How sweet! Happy anniversary! After MTOJ – as Micke Syd usually does during the past few concerts – he threw the mic to his technician, Albin, who caught it.

After the gang went off stage, the audience was clapping and screaming „en gång till”. Before the first encore, BoJo came up on stage and while standing on the side, he was checking if the crowd was loud enough. He put his hand to his ear to listen, so the crowd got louder. Haha. Unfortunately, it seems that Billy is on sick leave, so he didn’t appear in the first encore. We hope he gets well soon and will shine on stage again one of these days.

Before the second encore, the crowd started singing Sommartider. When the guys and girls came back on stage and the audience was still singing Sommartider, Per said they thought they would skip this song. Haha. „We play this one instead!” And they played När vi två blir en, which I think was the highlight of the gig. The audience got into it very much, singing along loudly.

PG thanked for a fantastic evening and said he hopes the audience had as much fun as they did. He wished everyone a fantastic summer and said he hopes we meet again and everyone takes care of each other.

Gyllene Tider – Hux Flux – Lysekil – 17th July 2023 – #7

The last time Gyllene Tider played in Lysekil was exactly 4 years ago, on 17th July.

During the day, Micke Syd posted about a patisserie and bakery where they prepared Hux Flux cakes for the day, with the album sleeve as the decoration on top. So we thought we would check it out. It was very delicious. After leaving Björsells Bageri & Konditori, we got mail from Live Nation. It was about changing the schedule for the evening. Probably, because of the heavy wind. So the doors would open at 17:30, Uno on stage at 19:00 and GT on stage at 20:00.

When we arrived at the venue, we could see from afar that the side drops were missing on stage and the Hux Flux sign was not placed on top of the stage, but Hux on one side and Flux on the other. We realized it only inside that the LED wall was completely missing and the cameras too, since there was no screen to show the cam recordings on. We felt sorry for Göran and Micke, because the black backdrop on stage was rolled up behind their spots. So it was even more windy for them during the concert.

The show started with the music they usually play while the cartoon is shown, but now of course, without the cartoon itself. The guys and girls just entered the stage towards the end of this music.

Since Uno played one song less vs. his usual setlist, we were afraid that maybe the GT setlist gets shorter too, but it didn’t change vs. Eskilstuna, which means they didn’t play Billy, but all other songs remained stable on the list. Hopefully, Billy is not away for the rest of the tour.

After greeting the crowd, Per said they had many great shows in Lysekil over the years, but they try to top them tonight despite the wind.

After Gammal kärlek rostar aldrig, PG picked up his mug of ginger tea. The mix Micke Syd prepared for him tonight felt a bit minty.

Before Tuffa tider, Per said ukulele is the world’s sexiest instrument. He said if you go to Marbella during winter, you can easily find Micke Syd in a park playing ukulele. Micke said „the world’s sexiest instrument played by the world’s almost most unsexy guy, sounds like a success”.

The band presentation was for their ego’s sake, Per said. Haha. Everyone got a very loud round of applause and Micke even got a loud „Micke, Micke, Micke” from the audience. Micke Syd said Per promised he would go waterskiing, if the weather was good in Lysekil, but…, we will see him doing that tomorrow. Haha.

Before Min tjej och jag, Micke asked the ones sitting far behind on the rocks (outside the venue „are you with us?” They waved. The song was dedicated to Anna from Björsells Bageri & Konditori, for the love of cakes.

Both times the guys and girls went off stage, the audience was clapping and started singing Sommartider and screamed „en gång till”. They were still singing Sommartider when the whole gang was on stage again. After Sommartider, PG thanked everyone for coming despite the wind and wished everyone a fantastic summer and said he hopes we meet again. „Take care of each other!”

Despite the heavy wind, the band was in top shape and the audience was singing along a lot. Especially Kung av sand and Flickan i en Cole Porter-sång were very loud.

I have to say it didn’t really matter that the LED wall wasn’t there. This way we could focus even more on what was happening on stage and you could see that real music and a band on fire needs no other stuff, just their instruments and voices. Amazing show!

Next stop is Skövde on Wednesday.

Så många fantastiska konserter har GT gjort i Lysekil genom åren och ikväll tror jag bestämt att vi toppade dem alla! Fantastisk publik + grymt samspelt band trots jobbiga förhållanden med kastvindar och annat opoppigt!!!! Tack för allsången, tack för att ni kom förbi! Love you all!!!

Gyllene Tider – Hux Flux – Eskilstuna – 15th July 2023 – #6

Gyllene Tider arrived to Eskilstuna and played an amazing show for a very loud and loving audience.

Uno Svenningsson started at 20:00 and GT got on stage at 21:15. The only change in the setlist was that they skipped Billy in the first encore. That’s a sad alteration, but hopefully, Billy is back at the next gig.

When Per welcomed the crowd after Gyllene Tider igen, he said they have many fantastic memories from many concerts in Eskilstuna over the years, but they try to top them tonight.

During the „tribute to their favourite Dutch band” talk Per said he saw Ekseption live and it was absolutely not for him. Anders said it was the best concert in his life. Micke Syd played his George Baker Selection special. Then they got down to Shocking Blue and played Skicka ett vykort, älskling.

After Gammal kärlek rostar aldrig, PG said it was a brand new song from their brand new LP called Hux Flux. You can get it from this old record store you know from 1978. Picking up the ginger tea Per said this is his secret little drink. Micke Syd prepares some mix for him every day. He never really gets to know what it is, but today it tasted a bit of strawberry. Micke Syd confirmed that it’s strawberry with a twist. He got a hint on Facebook picked up a small pack outside Eskilstuna. Per was drinking that now. In 20-23 minutes it would show the effect.

During the talk before Flickan i en Cole Porter-sång, Marie was mentioned again and the crowd went loud. Actually, I found this song as the biggest highlight during the show, because of the loudest sing-along and the interaction between the band and the audience. It’s however, hard to pick only one song that worked really fine with the Eskilstuna crowd, because they were really singing along loudly to all songs.

At some point, a guy from the crowd was cheering for Micke very loudly, „Micke Syd is our king”, then a bit later he shouted, „PG, you are OK, too!” Haha. The same guy later shouted „Per, you look better than David Bowie”. Haha.

The band presentation started with the ladies, Dea and Malin-My, then PG introduced MP and Göran. Regarding Anders, the only thing he said was that he plays the bass. Someone in the crowd shouted „Sweden’s most handsome man”. Per said: „Sweden’s most handsome man 1931.” Anders reacted it was 1831. Introducing Micke, Mr. G said all good pop bands must have a fantastic drummer and they have one, thank God. Micke got his well-deserved cheering from the crowd and that guy started shouting again „Micke Syd is our king” in Swedish. Micke Syd introduced Per as the one in the band who has the best sense of the ball. No one knows it about Per, but he was damn good at handball and maybe he could have been signed by a team, but he became a pop idol instead.

Before Min tjej och jag, Micke said that this song is about love. He said his girl, his love whom he married, is not here tonight, but there is a couple, who are celebrating their wedding anniversary. The couple was Andreas and Riccardo, longtime Roxette and Gyllene Tider fans from Germany. They were also shown on screen and got a loud cheering from the audience. That was such a lovely surprise from Micke. Dea and Malin-My came to the front and they joined Micke in singing the song.

Both times the guys and girls went off stage, the audience was clapping and started singing Sommartider and screamed „en gång till”.

Per wished everyone a fantastic summer and said he hopes we meet again. „Take care of each other!”

Next stop is Lysekil on Monday.

Gyllene Tider – Hux Flux – Linköping – 14th July 2023 – #5

Last night it was already the 5th show on tour. Gyllene Tider played a great gig in Linköping. The weather was great, the crowd was ready for fun and the band was prepared to give their full power. The stage set changed a bit, the HUX FLUX sign wasn’t on top of the stage, but HUX on the left, FLUX on the right.

Uno Svenningsson started at 20:00 and GT got on stage at 21:15. The setlist hasn’t changed.

When Per welcomed the crowd after Gyllene Tider igen, he said they had many fantastic concerts in Linköping over the years, but they try to top them tonight.

During the „tribute to their favourite Dutch band” talk Per said he saw Ekseption and Anders also saw them when he was 12, he was standing in the front row. It was not for Per and not for Anders either. Micke Syd had to remind the audience what the George Baker Selection was about. After animating the crowd, he started singing ojojoj to the rhythm of „una paloma blanca”, but the crowd, instead of joining in for una paloma blanca, went on with the ojojoj. Micke said he got carried away. Sounded cool! Per skipped Venus again, he just mentioned that it was a mega hit by Shocking Blue, but the song they all got hooked on was Send Me A Postcard and he translated it and it became Skicka ett vykort, älskling.

After Gammal kärlek rostar aldrig, PG picked up his ginger tea saying it’s a mix that Micke Syd prepares for him every night. Micke said the effect of it we will see soon. It’s a mix of some water from Vättern (lake close to Linköping) and some witch’s brew. Micke said it’s a kind of Kinder egg.

During the talk before Flickan i en Cole Porter-sång, Marie got a loud applause and cheering from the audience, when Per mentioned he started hanging out with her when he wrote this song.

When the world’s sexiest instrument, the ukulele was brought to Per, he said Micke Syd plays a similar one in parks in Marbella. Micke said he gets nachos for that.

The band presentation was fun again. Each band member got a loud cheering and applause. Per introduced Micke as the spine of the band. Micke said they have had so much fun at the start of this tour so they felt it was time they have a little club championship in track racing. Per is going to fix it, so they get to do some driving at Mantorp tomorrow before they go to the next show. Haha. Per said it will be fun.

Before Min tjej och jag, Micke Syd asked the audience if he could sing a song. The crowd said yeees. Micke said “what would I do if you said no? I wouldn’t have bothered, I would have been singing anyway”. Haha. Micke said he dedicates this song to someone every night and this time he dedicated it to his first crush. He was 7-10 years old and then there was this girl, Tina, when he visited his cousin who lives in Motala (not far from Linköping). He said his most recent crushes except his wife and cymbals are Dea and Malin-My. The girls came to the front and they joined Micke in singing the song.

Per said it’s impossible to top Micke, but they try. He just needed a guitar. He had to wait a bit until Micke N-S brought him the next one for Kung av sand.

When Per started to talk about Parkliv, we realized that many were screaming in the middle of the audience. This time not for joy, but someone needed help. The security team called the ambulance and they rushed in from the front, over the fence. Everyone on stage was concerned, so Per stopped talking and they all waited until the ambulance could take the one who was unconscious out. Micke Syd asked the crowd to give way to the ones who helped. Per also thanked and after they got the sign that they can continue, they went on with Ljudet av ett annat hjärta.

The gang went off stage after the medley. The audience was clapping and as usual, started singing a little Sommartider and screamed „en gång till”. The guys and girls came back a few minutes later and Per said it’s a pleasure to play for this crowd.

During Det är över nu, another unconcious guy had to be taken out from the crowd. The security team got him out in the front, over the fence. This was probably not visible from the stage, because the stage lights were on and it was in the middle of the song, so they didn’t stop playing. We hope that both people are feeling better now and all is fine.

When the gang came back for the second encore, Per said „what a great night! But it’s not over yet”. After Sommartider, Per thanked the audience for coming. He wished everyone a fantastic summer and said he hopes we meet again. „Take care of each other!”

När alla vännerna gått hem was the closing song. Malin-My on violin, Micke Syd and Dea in the front. This time it was different again, Dea was singing together with Per. After taking a bow, Per picked up his remaining plecs from the mic stand and threw them to the crowd, but there were no flying drumsticks. Maybe next time.
