KIRSTEN:

I was there – and when I came out I wish hadn’t gone. I can think about the Rox performance as long as I want – it doesn’t get better. Marie looked uncomfortable, nervous and actually as if someone FORCED her to come on stage. First verse of WICF got lost again, problems during LTYH, too, on which Per helped her (great guy!!) and most of the time she actually didn’t sing at all – her throat problem must be heavy!! I really hope she gets well soon.

I was at the 2nd prom concert tonight, and I must say I’m quite sad. I read all the positive stuf about the first one but I dindn’t expect this.

P&M came on stage and the audience went crazy, they both looked very great. But when marie started the 1st verse of WICF, she completely lost her lines. Here voice was very shaky and she kept on singing the wrong words and finaly she started mumbling. I noticed a lot of people went like “oh no”, I think I even saw Per thinking somethings went wrong.

My hopes were still high for part 2 were they performed the other 4 songs, but Marie was still very unsure. Her voice dropped out a couple of times.

In LTYH, all the modulations in the end are left away, so the song stays low, and still she couldn’t sing it. Also during The Look and Joyride, here lines sounded very thin and scared. Lots of people in my block that came especially for Roxette were very astonished. Nobody expected her to jump around, neither did I, but I dindn’t see this coming.

I hope she gets stronger more asure during the rest of the concerts.

Per and the band were in a good shape. I really wanted to put a coowl review here, but as a super roxfan, I left antwerp with a sad feeling inside tonight. Anyone blowing me off for being honest, I also could have written, the performence was great, but it just wasn’t.

BYROX:

First of all I apologize for my bad English, does not speak much English. I went there on Saturday with friends – 2 from Spain and 2 from Argentina. I was very close to the stage and the magic moment, incredible, amazing. The surprise of my life was when the orchestra begins with WICF and Roxette emerged from below, I nearly died. Marie was excellent, both are super beautiful. I felt very sorry to see Marie weak and confused, but I have to thank God for giving me a second chance to see them again (first time in Buenos Aires 1999). I was very excited, the public rang with The Look, the version of Listen To Your Heart was the best, the orchestra has been incredible. Roxette is the soundtrack of my life has accompanied me in every moment of my life. I come from a land far away but very dear to them – Argentina. and for me, coming from a country so far and to see them live was a dream come true. I think Marie will become stronger with each show. we must be aware that their lives are complete, with his family and a fortune very important, no need to return to the world of music for something else, but to give the fans the pleasure to see them again. the end of the show went with a group of fans to the garage and Per, Clarence, Gabriel and Pelle came out, it was a gift from God. Per gave me his autograph and had her many photos, incredible.
This is a message for you all, we support Marie and give the support you need, I know that for many it hurts to see Marie in this way, but know one thing, are alive, they are happy and do what they want to be next of their fans. what other issues do not matter … life is one, to enjoy. C `omm join the joyride everybody !!!!!!

WELSHROXER:

Hello all I’m a little late writing my review for the concert on the 24th but I have had a problem with my pc. I attended the concert on the 24th and it was fantastic. I have been a roxette fan since I was 9 years old. I have never had the privilidge of seeing roxette live until this day so it was a dream come true for me. I have seen Per live a couple of times but never with Marie. When they came on stage in Antwerp I cried and I was so exiceted to see them I have uploaded my videos to Youtube. They are not so good quality because I was excited lol. Marie is an insiration to me she is fantastic and I am pround that she came out and gave a perfomance despite being ill. I was very ill a couple of days after I came home from the concert and I hardly got out of bed so I give marie a big thumbs up. Rox on!

  1. Since there’s a five days break now I hope she can relax and recover a bit. Their performance started with me feeling frightened and the feeling didn’t just vanish later. I couldn’t enjoy the songs, I was concentrated on forming clear words with my mouth for Marie since it looked like she tried to read the lyrics from our lips. I felt so damn sorry for her that I don’t have words for this. The more I think of yesterday the unhappier I get. I really hope they can “fix” at least “some” of the problems. Winter tour in 2010?? Snow must fall in july first…my illusions are gone for now. I know she will fight as she already does, it just hurts to feel sorry for her. 🙁

  2. Thanks for all of your reports so far. I am so sorry to hear this news as I was hoping for something more positive (as I am sure you were)

I think the important thing is to not give up hope, and to try and support Marie and the whole band in whatever comes next and the decisions they have to make.

There must be so much pressure for her to do a good job and I hope people will be respectful and give her their love and support in the upcoming weeks.

    How was the audience btw?

  3. She definitely needs our support. We screamed, sang along, shouted, yelled – whatever you can think of. And she looked at the front row the whole time. It felt like she needed it. So ppl support both of them as much as you can. This is the time we waited for, now it’s time to give something back!

The audience was great – at least noone booed. But it was better on friday though..no wonder..

  4. It feels good to hear that – thank you.

I just watched WICF from opening night again to cheer myself up 🙂

  5. she just needs our support, if she has a bad throat, this of course makes her voice sound worse than it is! Other artists CANCEL concerts when they are a bit sick.
I’m sure she will get better and then she’ll be the Marie we all know 🙂
And hey, she forgot lyrics in the past already, that’s our Marie 😉

  6. Yes, I agree with Judith. It’s not about being perfect and remember every word of the song anymore. We know how much she wants to be on stage again and we should support her. We all know she is not the same Marie as she used to be – she’s more nervous, not so confident, but still – she has this kind of magic, that even if she forget the words, even if she has a problems with moving and so on…

I won’t go for any NOTP concert and I wish I had gone, so just enjoy and don’t about the negative sides of this comeback. After all – as long as they enjoy themselves, we should enjoy theirs performance as well.

  7. I think it’s a mix of too much pressure (partly maybe coming from herself) and the fact that she is ill and has problems with her throat! It sucks big time when your throat hurts and you have to speak, imagine when you have to sing.

I strongly believe with the time she will feel more secure, specially when her throat is fine again!

So, enjoy yourselves, stop worrying and be positive. She needs that too 🙂

Can’t stand idiots like the one at TDR, this venom something. How can somebody be so full of shit to post something like this?

makes me want to puke. Idiot.

  8. We were there yesterday at the concert in Antwerp and it was great. It was so enjoyable to see Roxette again on stage.

I hope there will be a new album soon and who knows maybe a quit “unplugged” concerttour in 2010. but so far i’m thankfull they did perform in Antwerp.

I wished I could fly to that stage yesterday to give them a hug and whisper … ‘Thank you’.
and I think.. many people wanted to do that yesterday.

  9. Well Judith, he’s posted an “explanation” of his previous comment now. You may want to sit down before reading it 😉

  10. You all know that I am the last person on earth to speak bad about Marie. I love this woman, I always will, my respect for her is huge, I admire, adore and will follow her always.

But when I came out the venue I was shocked and sad. It’s hard to explain when you haven’T been there. It’s easy to say “don’t be negative” when you haven’t seen this. It was the combination of lost lyrics, missing voice and her being so nervous. This wasn’t the Marie I know. And now I think she just needs our support and we should her that we’re still there..

  11. Thanx for your report Kirsten! Well..I think I understand what you mean…just lets hope that it’s “just” this bad cold that makes Marie feel so unsecure right now. A break for her would be the best now. …but well ..there is another concert this night right? Let’s press the fingers for her.
About the lyrics: She already didn’t know the lyrics from “Anyone” back in 2001. 😉 At that time we could take it easy. Some fans at the concerts created some posters for her with the right lyrics…..I remember that…:) I press all my fingers for her that she is feeling better soon and than I’m sure she will feel “right” on stage then again! Hopefully the others don’t get the stomach-flu or any colds too….

  12. Hope Marie get’s better soon! 🙁

I couldn’t imagine myself to “perform” something when being sick. If you take medicine, you can get really dizzy by that too.
Besides the illness, it’s quite normal that the first dates of a tour aren’t as good as the later ones. There’s a reason that all the concert videos are filmed towards the end of tours…

Haven’t seen footage of Saturday yet, but Friday looked/sounded nice imho, despite some premiere mistakes and unsecurities. Let’s hope the best! 🙂

  13. Friday was fine, LTYH was a blast!! No doubt! It could have been better, but it was really good. Nothing to complain about.

  14. Marie NEEDS ALL our support.
I respect every single opinion, but for me is just a personal opinion.
I’ve seen the videos from the first show and were INCREDIBLES!!AMAZING!!! Have no words to explain what i feel to see Roxette on stage again.
I see a Marie really enjoying what she want to do.A totally happy Roxette.
I think many fans go to shows waiting to see the Marie from Room Service era.But THINGS has changed!
She was very ill,she had a brain tummor. Now she’s recovered and still alive!! And that’s is a celebration of life!!!
Don’t pay atention if she missed some phrases or can’t move.Nobody force her.She DOES what she wants. She’s a real star. She’s been longing for do that.So….we,as fans, give her ALL OUR SUPPORT.
Me and 12 argentinean fans are traveling to the shows in Next December in Germany!
We DONT expect nothing,`JUST to see Marie & Per.Just have the chance to see Marie and say her how much we love her and what a stronger woman she is! She is an example of life!
Doesn’t care if she can move or dance or foget the lyric.Personally i just want to thank her and say how much i love her.
We go to the concerts,if they want to make playback: DO IT!! If they want just to stand up in silence for 30 min on stage: DO IT!! If they want to make an apparence via satelite: DO IT! We just want to say: THANK YOU Roxette for all these years. And specially THANK YOU Marie for beeing the woman you are.
remember: nobody force to nobody, both of them are clever persons. They do what they want. They are enjoying and they needs our support. No negatives opinions.
btw it’s my opinion too.take it or leave it.
have a great day for all of you,get a life, enjoy the life!

  15. after watching these videos I really don’t understand what the fuzz is about… and it’s surely NOT for her to retire or give up 😉

  16. I´ve read some negatives from the #2 gig. I´m so sorry about it. But Marie is ill. That´s not her guilt. And it was only the second concert. No reason to give her up already.

  17. Expected worse than this, but you see that Marie doesn’t move – compared to Friday. Vocals are hard to judge cause of the bad audio quality.
Have to say the The Look lightshow is awsome! Love the ROXETTE logo with plektrum O. Would love to have such a Roxette plektrum myself! Maybe more merchandise to come? 🙂

  18. I believe you, the video doesn’t provide clear sound after all. But maybe my head painted a worse scenario than you experienced. 😉

  19. Hm, what can I say? Maybe I expected too much after friday: There were no “na na na na”s or “she’s got the look”s in The Look, there was no “sunshine is a lady”-part in Joyride, there was no “oh oh oh oh” at the end of LTYH, there was no “I wish I could fly now” at the end of WICF, there was no repeating of the “it must have been love”-parts like she did in Stockholm.

She moved her mouth during IMHBL but she didn’t sing. It looked like she sang but she didn’t. WHEN she sang it was deep and you couldn’t even hear it well.

  20. She´s a human being and has a problem with her throat. Of course, i love to see her shining in every concert. But
I read the negatives comments at TDR. WTF?

  21. I can understand you worried, Kirsten 🙂
But I’m sure it’s about her sore throat and she’ll be fine soon 🙂
To me the videos don’t look that bad, maybe I had expected something worse.
