Roxette announces world tour!

Live Nation sent a press release today announcing a Roxette world tour. Read yourself!

Roxette are setting off on a much anticipated world tour 2011. They kick off in Kazan, Russia March 1st and will cover at least four continents during the year. Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle are returning to the world stage full of new enthusiasm after their six sold out concerts last summer. Roxette toured Europe in 2001. However, the last world tour took place in 1994-95 with the “Crash! Boom! Bang!” album.

Roxette is one of the world’s most successful hit machines. Their big break came in the late 80s with “The Look” from the album “Look Sharp!” Since then the band has ruled album and single charts all over the world with massive songs like “It Must Mave Been Love”, “Listen To Your Heart”, “Joyride”, “How Do You Do!”,“Dangerous”, “Fading Like A Flower”and “Dressed For Success”. Roxette have sold over 75 million albums and the epic songs “Listen To Your Heart” and “It Must Have Been Love” have each been played over 4 million times on US radio alone. For a period of four years in the 90s the band never left the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

‘If you’d asked me a couple of years ago,  if there would ever be a new Roxette tour I would have very quickly said “No!”,´ says singer, guitarist and songwriter Per Gessle. ‘Knowing what Marie (Fredriksson, lead vocalist) had to go through in recovering from her severe illness, this is not only unbelievable, it seems almost magical to me. It will be wonderful to meet all our audience on Planet Earth again.’

‘I’ve been longing and hoping for this since 2002. It makes me incredibly happy to know we’re going to meet our fans all around the world again,’ says Marie.

Besides the tour, Roxette fans can look forward to a brand new album in the first quarter of 2011.

  1. Not bad for a restart, he? I guess the ice Roxette was frozen in after 2002 has more than melted by now, it steams! 😀

  2. Just great 🙂

I hope I’ll have the chance to see at least one of the concerts in Germany. And I hope to get some more infos about the German dates at the corresponding websites. So far the concerts aren’t even mentioned there…
And eventim.de doesn’t know anything either.

Btw. Voelkerschalacht, that “a” before the “l” is too much 😉

  3. Wow, this is BIG :-)) Haven’t really expected a world tour with so many dates in south america & south africa, thought it’ll be mostly in europe with 2 or 3 three dates outside of it.

BTW Haven’t heard of any of the german venues jet (for my excuse, the nearest ist around 250 km away;-)), of course I know the Völkerschlachtdenkmal, but I didin’t know that it’s a common location for concerts – will it be open air?
What about the other locations (Tanzbrunnen, Hessentag), are they big, small, medium? 😉

I’m excited when the dates will pop up at eventim & Co…

  4. Am I stupid or is this a mixed thing between concerts and festivals??? Just asking… Looks like it for me when I read the venues.

I’m from Leipzig and until now I haven’t been to any concert at the Völkerschlachtdenkmal but it sounds awesome 😀 When I read it I was really suprised about the location, still am. Great to havethem back in my town!!

  5. Ohhh, great news, but I’m so unlucky…
I was at the doctor’s yesterday, who confirmed that I’m going to have a baby in June. And when are the Rox concerts which are near me (Prague and Graz)? In june…I don’t think that I can go then.
🙁 and 🙂 at the same time.
Looking forwart to other dates, hopfully Budapest too!!

  6. when is the tickets for Gothenburg released
cant find anything at ticnet.se about fortcomming releases

  7. Sascha, I’ve just registered at livenation.hu, and they wrote that from now on, I can use the preorder function. So I think only those who are already registered can preorder tickets.
(The Hungarian Livenation shows only a couple of dates.)

  8. This tour is a great gift to all of us fans. I am really happy that this is happening. I have been to Halmstad and St.Pete this summer which were both phantastic. Now I am planning all my holidays for 2011 around the Rox-Tour 🙂

By the way it makes me very happy that Marie is in such a good shape now that she can stand such a big tour. This strong little girl is amazing. Thank god!

  9. Well, I`m going on tour! )))

Still hoping for St-Petes, maybe before Kazan or after Riga (to complete the former-USSR leg) )))
