Roxette to receive the Swedish Government’s special music export award 2011

As Swedish Government informs on its official website – Roxette is to receive music export award for 2011. Here is the official statement:

This year’s music export award-winnig duo celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2011 with one of the biggest tours a Swedish band has ever done. The world tour that began in Russia in February 2011 – and that will extend well into this year – exceeded the forecast for number of tickets sold to over one million. The group has since its start sold over 50 million albums and another 20 million singles, and created some of music history’s greatest hits: It Must Have Been Love, Joyride, The Look, Listen to Your Heart and Dressed for success – just to name a few. After ABBA – Roxette’s the most successful band of all time on the international music scene.

The Government’s 2011 Music Export Prize will go to Swedish House Mafia as well. Roxette received this prize once in the past in 2001 for Room Service album and tour.

Congrats to Roxette from the whole RoxetteBlog.com team!
