“She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio)” reaches #9 on the World Chart

Roxette’s first single off “Charm School”, “She’s Got Nothing On (But the Radio)”, has hit #9 on Radio Express’ World Chart. This means that Roxette’s song is the 9th most played song on this planet!

Roxette’s song has been on the list for 12 weeks now and has been climbing from #12 two weeks ago, to #11 last week and #9 this week. Current #1 is Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”, followed by Rhianna’s “S&M”.

And this is how the World Chart is created: every week Radio Express compiles the World Chart by tabulating the most listened-to pop songs on the planet, based on the playlists of 100s of top radio stations worldwide.

Together with the chart, Radio Express offers The World Chart Show, “which is available fully produced in a 2-hour English version presented by Lara Scott or in a easy-to-assemble version for local co-producers. There are 48 minutes of program time per hour.”

The World Chart Show also has a Facebook page.

Thanks to Evgeny Perekopskiy for this information.

Note: we’ve heard more than once hints that the tour should go on in 2012. Of course, no details are available, so we base these speculations on some statements done by Per and Marie, like that the tour lasts one year, that Per mentioned Halmstad may be in the plan “next year”. And, of course, that they might play in the USA.

South African fans share their Roxette memories

During the month of March 2011, SunInternational.com ran a competition in their edition of the Million Thrills newsletter where they asked readers to send us their favorite Roxette memories. Below you will find two of them.

The memories that come to mind when I listen to my Roxette CD collection are bitter-sweet ones… During the 18 months that it took for my divorce to go through towards the end of 1998, I spent many evenings listening to Roxette music, as they were therapeutic for me, gave me hope that life would carry on and get better. It felt like many of the words to songs were specifically written for me in terms of all the emotions I was going through at the time. Thereafter, as my heart slowly healed and I fell in love again, Roxette music never failed to be an integral part of my life, this time a far happier part of my life than previously. I was embarking on new challenges in my personal life as well as career. Roxette’s music is held very dear to my heart. I never become tired of it

When I heard that Roxette was coming to South Africa in 1995, I begged my parents to go watch them and Mom said yes after months of pleading. This was my first big concert that I had ever been to and I remember that feeling of utter excitement going to watch Roxette at Ellis Park Stadium. I also bought a Roxette poster at the concert and one day found my brother & cousin using Marie Fredriksson& Per Gessle faces as target practice for their new pellet guns. Needless to say, I was beyond angry and cried my heart out. I still have not forgiven them for that day.
