Roxette’s latest single “It’s Possible” reached #1 in the German radio station SWR3′s chart. This chart is done with the votes sent in by the radio listeners during the past week. Roxette entered the chart at #2 last week and has finally climbed to #1 this week.
SWR3 (Südwestrundfunk) was is one of the biggest radio stations in Germany and the biggest in south Germany.
Roxette entered the Swedish album chart at #8 with “Travelling”. As expected, #1 was Madonna with her “MDNA”. This means that Roxette was the second highest entry this week.
(One could think it was a bit of a bad timing to release the album the same week as Madonna…, but who cares, we still love our great band).

Roxette are nominated for the German Echo award with their album “Charm School”. The category Roxette is nominated is called “Gruppe International Rock / Pop” – best international Rock/Pop group. The award is really important in Germany, as much important as the Grammys in the US. There’s not a jury choosing the winner. The sales charts decide the nominees and in the end – the winner.
On the Wikipedia site it says (used Google translate):
The ranking of the winners in most categories results from the added up weeks results of the Media Control sales charts in February of one year to January of the following year. This has the consequence that the absolute sales figures – should be – distributed over the entire year. This easy distortion of the results is possible. Good sales of the artists who achieve over longer periods (no weekly current top positions in the charts) good sales results will be penalized. [1] In some categories (lifetime achievement and special rates) are the winners selected by a jury, the most successful live act is nationally determined via online voting.
The awarding will take place on March 22th in Berlin. The show will be broadcast the same evening. Other nominees are Coldplay, Sunrise Avenue, Snow Patrol and Superheavy.
Our reader Dennis informs that Roxette have been nominated several times before:
According to wikipedia Roxette were nominated for the ECHO award in the categorie “best international group” at least in the years 1992, 1993 & 1995 – (For the year 1994 no nominations were listed, but as Roxette had no new album out the year before, I guess they weren’t nominated).
Thanks for letting us know.

Gold for Roxette in Cologne!
The Swedish superstars Roxette now added another trophy to their phenomenal career as part of the successful tour in Germany: The comeback album “Charm School”, released by EMI Music Germany and Starwatch Entertainment that managed to hit directly the first place of the German charts in February, sold over 100,000 copies since then. Last Thursday Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle received the Gold awards in the eve of the Cologne concert. The popularity of the Swedish duo within the German fans is visible in the impressive chart success of the latest album as well as the top ten hit “She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio)”.
Uli Mücke, Vice President New Music of EMI Music Germany, is delighted: “We are very happy about this successful comeback of the sympathetic Swedes, with whom collaboration is simply fun. Moreover the journey of this album is still far from over.” Hans Fink, CEO of Star Watch Entertainment, adds: “I am very pleased for Marie and Per. “Charm School” is a fantastic album. It’s great that the German fans are as excited about it as we are. Congratulations!” After the sold-out Open-air concerts in June Roxette will continue with a large arena tour in October 2011.
Time For Fun agency, that organized recent Roxette shows in Latin America, shared with the sale information for the chosen South American shows – in Brazil and Chile. Billboard Concert Box Score Chart lists the world’s top concert sales with information on ticket prices, sellouts, venues and promoters.
Roxette managed to place 6 gigs into the Billboard’s 258 biggest concerts of April and May 2011. No data regarding Russian/European, Uruguayan or Argentinian dates is available.

…and we like it!
Roxette’s “She’s Got Nothing On (but the Radio)” is now at #6 on Radio Express World Chart, after entering the Top 10 two weeks ago at #9 and climbing to #7 last week.
Roxette’s first single off “Charm School” finally entered one of Sweden’s most popular radio charts, Svensktoppen, at #10!
Svensktoppen is a program on Sverige Radio (Swedish Radio) which runs on P4 between 11 and 12 CET each Sunday and presented by Carolina Norén.
Three newcomers are chosen each week by P4 music producers based on how often a song is played on P4. The list is created each week with the votes of a randomly selected jury, who can vote for up to 3 songs each week.
Thanks Evgeny for the information!
Roxette’s first single off “Charm School”, “She’s Got Nothing On (But the Radio)”, has hit #9 on Radio Express’ World Chart. This means that Roxette’s song is the 9th most played song on this planet!
Roxette’s song has been on the list for 12 weeks now and has been climbing from #12 two weeks ago, to #11 last week and #9 this week. Current #1 is Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”, followed by Rhianna’s “S&M”.
And this is how the World Chart is created: every week Radio Express compiles the World Chart by tabulating the most listened-to pop songs on the planet, based on the playlists of 100s of top radio stations worldwide.
Together with the chart, Radio Express offers The World Chart Show, “which is available fully produced in a 2-hour English version presented by Lara Scott or in a easy-to-assemble version for local co-producers. There are 48 minutes of program time per hour.”
The World Chart Show also has a Facebook page.
