New interview: Roxette to triumph over the world

Per Gessle gave a fresh interview regarding Roxette’s present and future to TT Spektra, appearing here and there. Some interesting bits:

  • The tour album under the working title “Tourism 2” or “2rism” is still planned for release in Spring 2012 and will include several entirely new songs. Per is not keen on a project that is only retrospective, the same goes for a possible future Gyllene Tider project.
  • He is writing new songs all the time, but with no specific project in mind. Now it’s Roxette, but he would like to do more solo and GT in the future.
  • Roxette are producing a live documentary which may be released alongside the new album next year.
  • In Sweden the situation is a bit difficult for Roxette. It’s much easier to sell GT tickets there.
  • Roxette’s World Tour is running until August 2012. Maybe with additional Canada dates in the Fall. In the end they will have played 130 concerts for around 1.3 million people. So far they count 53 concerts for 750,000 fans.
  • Per is well aware that the nostalgia factor plays a big role in Roxette’s current success. In areas like Australia where they sold 50.000 tickets in one day, people thought Roxette was inactive since 2001.

About their motivation:

The most important thing is that we have a blast and that Marie feels like a princess. This is the world’s weirdest rehab!

Brisbane and Melbourne close to sold-out

Live Nation Australia & New Zealand has opened a new waitlist on Ticketek.co.au for those who are interested in additional concerts in Brisbane and Melbourne. According to our information, these two gigs are really close to be announced as sold-outs. The similar waitlist was started back in August when tickets for the very first Sydney show were snapped up in record time. So it seems that six concerts in Australia is not the end of Roxette’s charm tour down there.

Roxette to play by the foot of the Alps

According to Wikipedia;

Ischgl is a small village with population of ca 1,500 in Tyrol region of Austria. Its ski resort Silvretta Arena Ischgl-Samnaun is connected with the ski resort of Samnaun across the border in Switzerland. Together this ski area belongs to the largest skiing resorts in the Alps. Its 238 km of groomed pistes are served by over 40 mechanical lifts including cable cars, gondolas, detachable chair lifts and some T-bars.

It is where Roxette are going to play their probably very first open-air concert by the foot of a mountain. The concert will take place on Sportplatz Ischgl at 6 pm on Saturday, November 26. This will be the third Austrian Roxette concert this year.

World Tour 2011: Døgnvillfestivalen, Tromsø, Norway – September 1 #53

Yesterday Roxette played their only concert during the tour break in August and September at a festival in Norway.

Per’s comment:

Oh Yeah! Tromsö! Have you seen this place? Far out!!! It’s so far north you wouldn’t believe it but it’s the greatest place on Mother Earth. We had a blast at the festival. Headlining in front of a great crowd. The band was superb even though we haven’t played together for a month. And, hey, no soundcheck = No cheatng! Love you guys!
