Big German radio station WDR2 runs a poll to find the best band of all times. Wouldn’t it be fun to see Roxette high up there?

The poll ends November 5 and a big countdown will be broadcasted November 7 and 8. The website is in German but it’s easy: Just choose “Roxette” from the list, click “weiter”, type in the code, choose “Nein, …” and click “jetzt abstimmen”. Ready!

Additionally you can win 200 albums or a journey, tickets and a meeting for concerts with Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys or Nickelback. If you want, just choose “Ja, …” and fill in your data and click “jetzt abstimmen”.

Update, November 8: Roxette made it to number 50!

At the 7th of November there was no big difference to the day before. If I have to compare them I would say the 6th was just a little bit better. Problem for me was, that at WICF Marie was sitting on the right side of the stage (one day earlier she was sitting on the left) and between her and me was the camera guy. That was really disturbing because I couldn’t see her at all. The rest was as great as the day before.

A lot of eyecontact with P & M, Per using the catwalk, Marie standing up from the barstool in the middle of IMHBL and LTYH but Chris without hat this time. At the end Per was looking where to throw the flowers and when he looked at me I was pointing at myself, screaming “C’mon, over here!” and… yes, he threw them into my direction and it was easy to catch them. Good shot, Mr G! Thanks!!

This time it was C&C coming out after the show. We asked them which show they think was best so far and they said probably the 6th of November. While we were talking to them the van with Marie, Per and the rest of the band was driving by. All of them having a big smile on their faces. We offered C&C a ride to the hotel but they refused it. To quote Per: “hey, can’t win ‘em all!” :-D

It was wonderful. For me it can’t get any better but still I’m looking forward to Rotterdam… Wooooohhhhhoooooo!!!

Special about Roxette on Australian TV

Steve from Australia sent us following information:

A 90 minute Roxette Special has aired on Australian TV Channel “TVS”, which is a Sydney Community TV station. The special is a mix of clips from “Really Roxette”, “The Making of Joyride” and
Roxette videos. Some of the videos played were “The Big L”, “Real Sugar”, “Fingertips ’93″, “The Centre of the Heart”, “It Must Have Been Love” and “Almost Unreal” amongst many others.

The special aired on Prime-Time at 8:30pm on a Saturday night (Eastern Daylight Time!).

It has been a long time for us Aussies since we’ve seen such dedication to Roxette on Australian TV, even though it is Community TV.

THEY WERE AWESOME!!!! Marie was doing EXCELLENT and I mean EXCELLENT!!!!!
And most important of all it REALLY REALLY REALLY was NOT playback. [...] She was really in the best shape I have seen her since she was having her illness! And it WILL only get better, I bet you! When they entered the stage, they both had a strange and dangerous look in their eyes as if they were gonna conquer the world and let them know that’they still Rock! And boy, they did ROCK!!!
I am really happy to bring you the good news and for all of you, forget the first concerts and join in the next shows. I am sure the best is even yet to come! Roxette you ROCK!!!

Okay, here is my little review from the 6th of November. I really coudn’t wait to come to Antwerp again. I have seen the first two shows and after two weeks reading discussions about Marie’s voice and playback stuff I just wanted to see the good things again. I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed and I was soooooo right! The best show that I have seen so far.

It was a totally different and especially Marie looked more comfortable and more relaxed than at the first two shows. Her voice was strong and smashing and it felt great to see them both performing. Per used the catwalk on Joyride as well and during IMHBL and LTYH Marie sat on the barstool at first but it didn’t hold her there and in the middle of the songs she stood up. Like Roxer allready said, they were in top shape! When Per and Marie left the stage at the end of LTYH Per picked up Chris’s hat from the stage and put it on Chris’s head again. He was shaking his head a bit until the hat fell down and there it stayed until the end of the show. We all forgot about the hat until the big final.

Then came some pyro-effects and it immidiately caught fire. In a second there came a guy running onto the stage extinguishing the hat or what was left of it. It really smelled terrible and Per was pointing at the hat telling Marie and Sharon den Adel what has just happened :)

After the show Per came out once again. We were 6 people waiting and one of us was a Sharon den Adel fan. I told Per that they are getting better with each show and he answered that this is because they are getting healthier each day. Makes sence to me :) I asked him to sign a photo for my best friend and besides that there was some chitchat. They are working on 11 songs and it will be pure studio songs (no Tourism-suitcase-drums and such stuff) He bought the hat for Chris in Antwerp a few days ago and now they have to see if they can get another one (seems there will be another TV-recording and then Chris needs a similar hat) We got some plecs from him as well… what a generous guy ;) Then we said goodbye until the next day. Whatelse can a fan want. It was a night to remember…

NOTP tour: CD release on November 27

nopt_cdThe night the German Night of the Proms start in Hamburg, the official CD for Germany will be released. The question is: Will there be live versions on it or not? The CD features Christina Stürmer and Alan Parsons who have their first performance at the first show of the 27th.

Roxette, Katona twins, John Miles, classical pieces will be live versions. Last week Christina Stürmer and Heaven 17 had rehearsals in Antwerp, those were recorded. These recordings will be mixed with audience sounds (faked live versions).
Alan Parsons will probably be live recordings from NotP 2008  (Charleroi and/or Spain).

PASCAL:

Marie’s voice was very strong, although you can clearly notice she can’t reach certain notes anymore, but it doesn’t bother at all. Per was in a good mood, as usual. He made use of the ‘catwalk’ to try to cheer up the audience and did some hip moves. I found the audience to be rather calm during their songs (except for the visitors standing right in front of the stage of course). Still they did give M&P a very nice applause after each song and when Rox was finally done they got the most overwhelming applause of the evening and lots of people even gave a standing ovation (which they didn’t do for the other guest artists). One little embarrassing moment: Marie forgot the lyrics of the second verse of IMHBL. She was struggling and turned to Per for help (which caused some rumour in the audience). Fortunately she kept her smile and she didn’t even seem to worry about it. All in all it was very pleasing to see Rox play live! Great evening.

I’ve seen Per and Marie playing live in 1992 and 1994 -quite a while ago- so I did not know what to expect. But I must say they were stunning!!!!Marie’s voice blew everyone away. She sung like a godess! She is not so much jumping as she used to do, but everyone could see the joy in her eyes. And her voice was incredibly pure. Together with 15000 people singing Listen to Your heart. Wowsers!

I’m just back of NOTP….Roxette was amazing, don’t think that I have a voice tomorrow, I was screaming all the songs from the top of my lungs !!!! I was very close to the stage and I could notice that Marie needed help to take the stairs for going to the stage… the braintumor took her out of balance, that poor thing, but lot’s of respect 4 her !!! I don’t think that Roxette will go on tour in the future, I believe that Marie can’t handle a full concert, even when she is a very strong woman, and she is of course, but still……and she still can sing like a bird and all the lyrics were correct!!!! She just needed some practise and she was very nerveuse with the opening of NOTP…….I have enjoyed the other artist too, OMD was great, but only 2 songs ?? C’mon  I will go again next year !!!! And it was a great experience to see Roxette live !!!!!

It was a night to remember. But it was too short… Too short…. I wished I should have had several heads. The 1st one to look at Marie. The 2nd to look at Per. The 3rd for the band and the last one for the audience, atmosphere. etc. No laugh. I couldn’t get it all at the same time… I was so anxious for all these and I had so little time that I think I missed a lot of what was happening… I have only one head so excuse me all but I wanted to look at Marie most of all. So I didn’t really realize how the audience reacted on Roxette. But I guess It was nice and people knew the lyrics.

But guys I didn’t care about all these people. There were only Marie and Per for me. I had waited for that moment since 2001. And I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t. I love them with all my heart and I miss them badly. And I admire Marie the way as she is. So I don’t care if she forgets the lyrics or whatever. She was so touching, vulnerable, still a little bit nervous but she was gorgeous. She will always be gorgeous for me. She and Per are now a part of my family. I just happy they exist. And once again I realized I miss them like crazy. I do miss Roxette in my life. Solo stuff… yeah it’s great! But nothing can be compared for me with Marie and Per together!!

I’d also like to say that I think it’s at least impolite to discuss Marie. Excuse me all. I don’t want to hurt anyone. But don’t you think we are not allowed to? No one from us really knows what she has been going through. Can you really understand she could die????!?!?!?!? How can you discuss her coordination, confusing, differences, etc calling yourselves fans and saying you love her!!!.???? It must be a joke!! Do you think she needs such reviews? Yes, thank you very much for such support….. C’mon! Be wise…. She does her best and I do think She is inimitable.
