Roxers’ favourite Good Karma tracks

You might remember Per’s Sunday reflection post. He asked which your favourite song is on Roxette’s brand new album, Good Karma.

SUNDAY REFLECTION. Howdy folks. So, the mighty Good Karma’s been out a week by now. Great reception. Thanks. One thing: what’s your favourite song? Just one, pls. Otherwise I’ll get confused! Cheers, P.

It was really hard for all of us to pick only one track, because all songs on the album are dear to most of us and our favourites are changing day by day or even hour by hour. Checking the comments under the post, some are having an album with exclusive extra tracks, like Joyride, The Look, Vulnerable and So Far Away, haha. Sticking to the real Good Karma songs, the title track seems to be the absolute winner. How about a third single soon? 😉

Vote for Roxette and Roxers!

Nomination period started for this year’s Rockbjörnen (music prize awarded by Aftonbladet annually). Last year Aftonbladet introduced a drop down menu for those who find it hard to nominate a band / artist / etc. by themselves and if you check it, you can see they still have Roxette on the list for the bands and Roxette fans on the list for the fans of the year. So, please, fill in at least the live band of the year and fans of the year boxes at the voting link. You can surely fill in other boxes, too, e.g. Swedish song of the year: ”It Just Happens – Roxette” or when the album is out, you can pick another song as well. 😉

Vote HERE each day until 10th July!

If you can’t speak Swedish, we help you which boxes to fill in and how you can proceed with your voting:

  • Årets livegrupp = Live band of the year: Roxette
  • Årets bästa fans = Fans of the year: Roxette fans
  • Årets svenska låt = Swedish song of the year: It Just Happens – Roxette (or any other new song after the album is released)

After filling it in, click on ”Nästa” (= ”Next”) and fill in your name (first name & surname), e-mail address, mobile number, year of birth (födelseår) and whether you are female (kvinna) or male (man) or other (annat), then reply to the control question (e.g. 2 + 2 = 4). If you want to receive info and offers from Aftonbladet, leave the tick in. ”Tillbaka” means ”Back”, ”Rösta” means ”Vote”. It’s simple as that.

For a little Rockbjörnen history check out our article from 3 years ago.

Vote for Roxette and Roxers!

Nomination period has started for this year’s Rockbjörnen (music prize awarded by Aftonbladet annually). 2 years ago we wrote about Roxette’s Rockbjörnen history and last year our collective voting for Marie was enough for her to be on the shortlist. Unfortunately, in the end she didn’t win the award, but now here is the chance to vote again. Since Rockbjörnen is focusing on live acts and Roxette is now on tour, we can vote easily. So, please, fill in at least the live band of the year and fans of the year boxes at the voting link. You can surely fill in other boxes, too. This year Aftonbladet introduced a drop down menu for those who find it hard to nominate a band / artist / etc. by themselves and if you check it, you can see they have Roxette on the list for the bands and Roxette fans on the list for the fans of the year. Yay!

Vote HERE each day until 22nd July!

If you can’t speak Swedish, we help you which boxes to fill in and how you can proceed with your voting:

  • Årets livegrupp = Live band of the year: Roxette
  • Årets bästa fans = Fans of the year: Roxette fans

26th anniversary of Look Sharp Live – Roxette in Borgholm? – VOTE!

No, the anniversary is not today. It’s next year. Why do I come up with this topic then? Probably, because several new dates have been added to the already impressive list of XXX tour dates during the past 2 weeks. Still no South or North American, Asian or African dates are known, but surely there will be some concerts added also in those parts of the world, when everything is arranged.

Since the European tour leg was announced and I saw the Swedish dates, I can’t get one thought out of my head. And I guess I’m not alone with that thought. The cities are:

18 July – Kalmar
22 July – Halmstad
24 July – Gothenburg
25 July – Stockholm

There are some days off between Kalmar and Halmstad which could be spent with something else than just sightseeing in Sweden. Kalmar actually lies very close to an extremely important place not only in the Swedish Royal Family’s life, but in Roxette’s history. Borgholm is the place I’m talking about.

Roxette performed at Borgholm Castle already in 1987 on the Badrock tour, but more importantly, the place is known for most of the Roxers because of Look Sharp Live (recorded on 25th-26th July 1989, released on VHS on 1st October 1989) and for the rest of the people on the Globe because of Listen To Your Heart video. Still too funny that the ruins were thought to be built only for the video’s sake.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to drive through Öland Bridge on 19th July, look around on the island and have a fantastic gig at night inside the ruins of Borgholm Castle? Just like 26 years ago. The distance between Kalmar and Borgholm is only 40 km, so it’s easy to get there. 20th-21st July is still enough for everyone to do the usual ”sightseeing” in Halmstad before the show on 22nd July.

So far there is only one concert scheduled for the summer of 2015 inside the ruins (Tomas Ledin, 29th July), so 19th July still seems to be free. The date? Fits! Roxers’ touring agenda? Fits! Marie barefoot? Fits!

How about a poll? Even if you might not be able to attend that gig personally for any reason, you might want to share your opinion and see some videos later. If miracle happens and a concert will be organized there.

Would you like to see Roxette live in Borgholm?

On a side note, hearing Paint live there would be a fab addition, but already a gig itself inside the ruins would simply be an out of the world experience! Wishful thinking it might be, but hope dies last… We want to see Roxette live in Borgholm! The 30th anniversary tour definitely deserves a stop there!

Update on 17th December:

Now we’re informed that a Facebook page was already created by Maria Francovig Valero (Argentina) in 2013 to support Roxette to perform in Borgholm in 2014. Then as the year was passing by, another page was created, hoping for Roxette to play there in 2016. You can join those pages if you feel like it. No matter which year, we just need a Roxette concert in Borgholm! 2015 just seems to be a perfect year for that.

Micke Syd makes a stand for more organ donation – VOTE!

If you are following the adventures of Micke Syd (Gyllene Tider’s fab drummer) on Facebook, you surely know that his son, Dennis had to go through a kidney transplantation earlier this year. The donor was Madeleine, Dennis’s mother. The whole family is very supportive when it comes to organ donation. Living with Dennis’s health problem for so many years makes it even more understandable.

Micke Syd is the spokesman of MOD (Mer organdonation = More Organ Donation) and the latest support he provided them with was that he and Dennis took part in the charity show of Postkodmiljonären (= Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?). They played brilliantly and won 75,000 SEK for the organization MOD. Now there is a chance to add 10,000 SEK to this by a simple vote on Micke Syd’s and Dennis’s winner dance posted on Postkodmiljonären’s Facebook page. To vote, you just have to click ”like” for the video HERE. Simple as that. Give the organization a chance! Thanks for your help in voting!

Marie Fredriksson and Rockbjörnen 2014

It all started in the beginning of June, when we asked you to vote for Marie Fredriksson as live artist of the year and help her winning a Rockbjörnen award. Roxers are very good at voting, so it was not a real surprise when we got to see Marie on the shortlist for Swedish female live artist of the year. It was a very happy moment for all of us.

The voting went on and on, each day more and more fans joined us and kept their fingers crossed for our votes being enough for Marie to win. Aftonbladet also encouraged the voting several times either on their website or in their Facebook posts, sometimes also using Marie’s photo vs. other artists which made us vote even harder. According to Aftonbladet, it was a record period for them regarding the number of votes. They registered appr. 1 million votes in total. Thanx everyone, who voted for Marie!

Aftonbladet broadcast the gala live, but we couldn’t see Ms Effe at the show. Not seeing her arriving to the gala felt like a prediction that the winner could be someone else. Also because of the fact that only 1 shortlisted artist (in this category I mean) arrived to the gala. This time the winner in the category is Zara Larsson.

Actually, winning a Rockbjörn or not, I can say it in each and every fan’s name: Marie is the female live artist of the year for all of us! Can’t wait to hear you live again, Marie! See you on tour!

Besides mentioning Roxette and Gyllene Tider several times during the gala, there were many Rockbjörnen historical pics shown on a background screen. This one as well.

VOTE each day until 20th August! She deserves it so much!

Vote for Marie Fredriksson!

650x573_MF_tour_2014Voting period has started for this year’s Rockbjörnen (music prize awarded by Aftonbladet annually). Last year we summarized the achievements of Roxette, Marie, Per and Gyllene Tider in this article. Unfortunately, there was nothing to add to the list in 2013, but now here is the chance to vote again. Since Rockbjörnen is focusing on live acts and Marie Fredriksson had a fantastic solo tour this year, we can easily vote. So, please, fill in at least the female live artist of the year and concert of the year at the voting link. You can surely fill in other boxes, too. If you couldn’t attend Marie’s tour, check our concert reviews, so you can decide which one you would vote for.

Vote HERE each day until 28th July!

Smooth entrance during the Roxette tour? Vote now!

roxette_goes_on_tour_2014The fact that Roxette goes on tour at the end of this year made all Roxers incredibly happy. There were rumours about it since long, but the time to announce some dates had just come last week. And the list of tour dates will be longer than just those 13 shows in Russia, Estonia and Lithuania, that’s for sure.

It might sound insane (oh no, it IS insane), but yes, discussions about queuing in front of venues and how to get to the front row already started… We are used to waiting tremendous amount of hours in front of venues and tons of us are used to run-run-run to the front row after the entrance is open. It’s really funny to read conversations on Facebook already now about how to organize the entrance by the fans themselves. We are fond of the numbering system, but what could we do with it, if there is no control over the lining up and when the doors are open, everyone is just running like hell? Should we ask local Roxers to be there at the venue early and ask the security guys to let us in some minutes earlier than the rest of the crowd? Or should we contact the local security team some days before the concert actually takes place? But they might not be used to any systems like this, so they wouldn’t care about the fans too much. What should we do then? I admit it: this is crazy to discuss it this early! And it’s half a year before the tour starts… We’re getting more and more fanatic it seems. 😉 At the same time, if something is going to be decided officially by the organizers, it needs a lot of time and negotiations to organize everything in advance for the whole tour. Wishful thinking it might be.

Atli (Show Security Sweden) at a Gyllene Tider concert in 2013
Atli (Show Security Sweden) at a Gyllene Tider concert in 2013

Since last year’s Gyllene Tider tour, where we experienced how calmed down and smooth the entrance could be if a well-prepared and cooperating security team is in charge, there is no discussion among Roxers about such things without mentioning Show Security Sweden. You might remember our article about them. The team did an outstanding job during the whole tour in Sweden, even at the biggest venue with the biggest crowd (Ullevi, Gothenburg). They paid attention to the numbering system, took control over the lining up and let us in only some minutes before the normal entrance. No running, no danger, no being nervous, just a smooth walk to the stage. Of course, they needed cooperating fans, but when you can see they absolutely know what they are doing and are fully in charge, plus their aim is the same as ours: to have a great concert experience without any troubles, then you can only wish they or a company with the same targets would be in charge at all of the future shows we attend. It was already nice to see them at Marie’s Stockholm concert. Why not having such system on Roxette’s tour? We know it’s almost impossible and maybe not the most effective to bring so many security guys from Sweden to all over the world, but maybe it would be enough to have a great team of supervisors like Atli or Malin, who can coordinate the local security teams. If I’m right, it was the same at the GT shows. We saw different faces among the security guys, so they surely worked together with local teams in different cities of Sweden. And it worked amazingly well.

We know it’s not our business who is chosen as security company, but it would be great if Live Nation would consider the possibility of implementing this working numbering system or something similar on the upcoming Roxette tour to make the entrance more secure and smooth and this way, the concert experience even better for both the band and the fans. Because as Micke Syd mentioned in the interview Judith did with him during the tour last year:

I think it’s just making the concert experience a lot better. We feel it too if you have been queuing for hours and then you are frustrated because of all the stress to get to the front row. If you are relieved of all that you can just relax and enjoy. And then we also have more fun.

So, how about a poll? Let your voice be heard and vote below! We are curious about your opinion. Voting is anonymous.

Would you like Management / Live Nation & a security team to organize a smooth entrance during the upcoming Roxette tour?

Gyllene Tider is still on fire!

You might remember an old article of ours where we asked you to vote for a Gyllene Tider-medley and then let you know later in May that the result of all our voting power was that GT won. Thanks to that, the audience of the choreographed fireworks in Norrköping could listen to a medley of 5 GT hits.

Fireworks started at 10 pm on 16th August and the 5 songs played were (in this order):

  1. När vi två blir en (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
  2. Flickorna på TV2 (1)
  3. Gå & fiska! (1, 2)
  4. Sommartider (1, 2, 3)
  5. Tylö sun (1)

Click on the numbers next to the songs for some short Instagram videos and check how the “show” was. 😉

Update #1: now a full video is available on YoutTube. 6m 30s. Click here to watch it!

Update #2 (1st September): a more enjoyable video is uploaded by Göteborgs FyrverkeriFabrik. Click here to watch it!

To the question ”Which Rockbjörn is the most fun to get: Band of the year or Album of the year?” – in a chat in January, 2005 – Gyllene Tider replied:

Album of the year, because it is very difficult for an old band like us to make a relevant and popular album, which in addition is good.

Well, Dags att tänka på refrängen would deserve to be the Swedish album of the year, wouldn’t it? It’s a pity there is no ”Swedish album of the year” category anymore, but there is still space for your favourite song from the album. And you know who the Swedish live artists of the year are and which the Swedish live band of the year is, right? Gyllene Tider’s tour has not yet started (only 1 month left!), but you might already have a thought which should be the Concert of the year. So, c’mon guys & girls! Vote HERE until you drop (but at least until 28th July 😉 – each day)!

Here are the categories (it’s in Swedish, but here you have the English translation as well):

Årets kvinnliga liveartist = Female live artist of the year (it can only be Swedish)

Årets manliga liveartist = Male live artist of the year (it can only be Swedish)

Årets livegrupp = Live band of the year (it can only be Swedish)

Årets genombrott = Breakthrough artist of the year (it can only be Swedish)

Årets svenska låt = Swedish song of the year

Årets utländska låt = Foreign song of the year

Årets konsert (artist, plats) = Concert of the year (concerts only in Sweden are accepted)

Årets hårdrock / metal = Hard rock / metal artist of the year (either Swedish or foreign)

After filling it in, click on ”Nästa” (= ”Next”) and fill in your name (first name & surname), e-mail address, age (ålder) and if you are female (kvinna) or male (man). Reply to the control question, leave the tick at the first sentence (this way you won’t have to fill in the form again, as it saves your replies and you just have to click on voting the next time). If you want to receive info and offers from Aftonbladet, leave the second tick in, too. ”Tillbaka” means ”Back”, ”Rösta” means ”Vote”. That’s it. It’s much easier than it looks like. 😉

Gyllene Tider plays with fire

You might remember our article from some days ago in which we asked you to vote on GT for a fireworks medley in Norrköping. The result of the voting is out… aaaaaand people will hear Gyllene Tider’s greatest hits during the fireworks on Friday, 16th August! More than 2000 readers took part and 34% of the votes went for our golden guys. Bruce Springsteen had 25% and David Guetta 22% of the votes. The remaining 19% went for Robbie Williams and Rihanna.

Leka med elden will most probably not included in the medley, but it’s still nice. Click here for the English version.

Thanx for voting and enjoy the ”show” if you’re in Norrköping that day!
