Press Release: Roxette back with new album “Travelling”

Here is the press release in English we got from Roxette’s management.

A Swedish version is available too if you are interested.

Roxette back with new album ”Travelling”

and a taster: It’s possible!

Three years after their 2009 comeback, Swedish pop phenomenon Roxette are hotter than they’ve been since their early 90’s heydays.

Their world tour is in full swing with almost a million concert tickets sold since the tour kicked off in the Tatneft Arena in Russian Kazan a year ago. On top of that another million Roxette records has been added to the already dizzying 70 million that Roxette has sold over the years.

So far the band has played more than 85 shows in 30+ countries (and the trip continues—they don’t plan to rest until they’ve played 150 shows). But besides zigzagging between airports, arenas, hotels and meeting with fans from all over the world, the band also has found time to record their new album “Travelling”.

The idea has been to tap into all the positive energy that has boosted the band during this dazzling trip, and channel it to new Roxette music. In short, an album that just like 1992’s “Tourism” captures the feeling of a band on a roll—constantly on the move, snatching inspiration as they go; recording in hotel rooms, studios, at soundchecks and in concert.

The result is a fascinating musical postcard with 15 superb songs, most of which are new, some that are revisited classics and others being pearls that for various reasons hasn’t seen the light of day before. A tight and inspired band has gathered around a batch of Gessle tunes, where the relentless hit-maker again and again proves that his sense of melody and ability to surprise is still top-notch.

“It’s Possible” is the first taster from “Travelling” – 2 minutes and 34 seconds of sunny pop music that shows one of Roxette’s many sides 2012.  There’s more to come.

Release date “It’s Possible”: March 2nd.
Release date “Travelling”: March 23rd.

News from Helena: concert, Sandy Mouche album and baby on the way!

Helena Josefsson has posted an update on her Facebook website with some great news which confirm what some of us thought/knew: Helena and Martin are expecting a baby in 3 months! Congratulations and all the best from us.

Besides that, Helena writes about the concerts she is going to give the next days:

And also that Sandy Mouche is speeding up to finish their new album!

As Helena puts it herself, “incredible how we managed to make that happen considering the small amount of time home during last year´s Roxette adventure!”

Roxette featured in EMI Sweden Yearbook 2011

“No One Makes it on Her Own” is the last track of EMI Sweden’s Yearbook 2011, a compilation released for Spotify only. The ablum features singles by Magnus Uggla, Mauro Scocco, Timbuktu, Me and My Army among others.

This is mentioned in the press release from EMI:

2011 was a fantastic year for EMI. With new sign-ups like Magnus Uggla, Mauro Scocco or Alice b, releases by Lykke Li, Timbuktu and the acclaimed debut album by Me and My Army, three albums by Robyn and much more.

Eldkvarn got 40 and celebrated with both gold and platinum records, Magnus Uggla’s first album signed under EMI sold gold as well, and Roxette did their comeback with “Charm School” which has sold so far about 0,5 million copies.

All this resulted in a great bunch of great songs. Therefore we have put them all together in an album, “Yearbook of 2011”, which can be found on Spotify starting February 1st. A collection of great titbits from 2011.

“We are incredibly happy with 2011, it has been both an eventful and successful year for EMI. Therefore, it feels good to give some songs some extra attention,” says Stefan Blom, VD of EMI Music Nordic.
