Norwegian band accuses Roxette of plagiarism

According to an article on Norwegian newspapers Dagbladet and Side2,  the Norwegian band Hollywood Vampires claims Roxette has stolen parts of their song “She Had Nothing On But the Radio”, which was released in 2008. According to the singer of the band Paul E. Vercouteren, these parts can be found in Roxette’s latest single “She’s Got Nothing On (But the Radio)”.

“It is weird that another band is earning money on the chorus we wrote,” tells Vercourteren to Dagbladet. Vercourteren claims that besides the chorus, the bass rythm and guitar chords are similar as well, and that all in all, the song is “too similar to be a coincidence”.

The norwegian band is now considering if they take any legal steps against Roxette or not.

Here’s the link to Hollywood Vampires song. What do you think? Personally, to me this song sounds like Green Day.

Interview with Magnus Börjeson on Nordic Rox

One of our readers sent us a link to an interview with Magnus Börjeson which was broadcasted on Nordic Rox (program on US radio station SIRIUS XM) some days ago.

In this nice interview Magnus talks about his career and some of his music productions and projects are played as well:

  • Here She Comes Again – Vibike Saugestad (produced, played by Magnus and David Birde, ex-Brainpool!)
  • The Morning Show – Metrojets (with David Birde)
  • Sound of Noice (film)
  • Beagle
  • Favorita
  • Goodbye London – Luke Jackson (with Magnus, Christoffer, recorded in AGM)
  • Magnus’ favourite track: Jet by Paul McCartney.

And much more! Enjoy!

Roxette’s world tour goes on in Autumn – first dates showed up

Per Gessle already mentioned in various interviews in Germany last month that the tour would go on in Autumn with 25 more dates. Some dates have already started to pop up in the net. Here are some findings:

– According to KölnTicket: October 16, Mannheim, SAP Arena, Germany

– Eventim, official German ticket vendor, updated their website indicating that the tour in Germany goes on “from” 11-6-2011 (Berlin) until 25-10-2011 (unknown city).

– According to this article in Austrian newspaper, Roxette is supposed to play in Vienna in October.

– On the other side, Spanish radio Europa FM wrote today on their Facebook page that they are going to be the “official radio station of Roxette’s tour in Spain“.

Europa FM emisora oficial de la gira española de Roxette! Sleeping in my car, Dressed for success, It must have been love, How do you do, Spending my time… ¿Qué canción te marcó más del dúo sueco?

This probably means that more dates are going to be announced during the next days!

Update March 11: Eventim has changed the “until” date 25-10-2011 back to June, but anyway, Per already announced in various interviews that there are 25 more shows to come, so it’s just a matter of time.

Thanks Kirsten and Nicole.
