Gyllene Tider’s Man blir yr video premiere and chat with Per Gessle

Gyllene Tider’s video for their first single off Dags att tänka på refrängen album, ”Man blir yr” premiered on Aftonbaldet TV today. When Per posted ”Video is coming soon!” on Gyllene Tider’s facebook page on 1st April, most of us thought it was just an April Fool’s Day post. Now the video is really here. Most scenes in the clip are from TV4’s Fråga Gyllene Tider show or at least from the same day, shot in the rehearsal studio. There are many old Gyllene Tider pictures appearing, too. The ending is too cool with Per throwing a plec. Watch it yourself!

Fans also had a chance to chat with Mr. Gessle on Aftonbladet at 12:30 CET today. The chat lasted for about 35 minutes.

From the chat we get to know that the girl in Man blir yr video is called Filippa. The guy who drew the awesome Gyllene Tider cartoon characters is called Paco. Ullevi was his best concert with Gyllene Tider and it’s still not out of the game this year. There most probably won’t be any more Gyllene Tider signing sessions than the 3 already announced ones. Mr. Gessle promises there will be some unexpected songs on tour. There is a plan to record the tour on DVD.

Per sings much much worse after drinking 4-5 beers, so he never drinks alcohol before a gig. He’s losing focus and it fits his personality very badly. Mr. G is not listening to Justin Bieber (surprise, surprise…).  If he could have a dinner with three other musicians, dead or alive, he would choose John Lennon, Syd Barrett and Mama Cass. To the question regarding what he’s most proud of in his career he replied:

I am proud that I still have a wonderful relationship with the audience. It’s the audience around the world that made all this possible.

He says he has never been angry with anyone in the audience while he was on stage:

Our audience is generally VERY positive and active and you never want to stop playing for them!

Regarding his actual hairdo (the hairdo, the hairdo!!! read it carefully! 🙂 ) he says:

I like my hair right now because I can shake it so cool when I play a ruthless G major on Rickenbacker!

The last question  – coming from Felix – was when he is resting. Per’s reaction:

Felix, you sound like my wife!!!!!! I’ve been floating in my life and get to work with what I love. I’ll rest later.

Per Gessle tells that the album is 37 minutes long. You can also listen to the 2 tracks “Man blir yr” and “Chikaboom #2” if you have WIMP.

Aftonbladet gives the single 3 pluses.

Expressen: Anders Nunstedt writes about the single in his typical style and gives it 2 bees. Expressen also interviewed Gyllene Tider, Per reveals that some concerts are sold-out and that they will do some “adjustments” around Easter.

#gtsommar Lyrics of Gyllene Tider: Man blir yr

However, we could see parts of the text on the sleeve, Gyllene Tider shared the complete lyrics of Man blir yr, their first single from the new album Dags att tänka på refrängen. The song is full of very typical, fantastic Gessle rhymes. Because of mentioning a “Hollies-låt” and “förlåt Susanne”, the song might refer to Sorry Suzanne from The Hollies, but somehow one can feel there appears a little Fru Nordin in this song. Doesn’t she? 🙂

Man_blir_yr

Man blir yr

Kom just på
Mitt i villervallan
Broder Allan står
På en båt
I en Hollies-låt
Helt genomvåt
Förlåt Susanne, det blir så här ibland
När jag gräver upp gammalt damm
Och ser tillbaka

Man blir yr
Man tar fyr
Tum för tum
I mitt rum

Kom just på
Hur vi möttes
I en vrå
På ett diskotek
85? Kanske 82?
Du var söt i lockigt hår
Susanne, det blir så här ibland
Jag gräver bland gammalt damm
Och flyr tillbaka

Man blir yr
Man tar fyr
Tar en chans
Får åka ambulans

Kom just på
Den som spar han har
Det är tur att du finns kvar
Här hos mej
Annars hade jag nog ägnat all min tid åt dej
Jag hade letat efter dej
Jag hade letat efter en vän
Värd att leta efter

Man blir yr
Man tar fyr
Man blir kär
Och blir så här

The song premieres on Swedish radio stations next Monday (18th March). The single with Chikaboom #2 as a B-side will be available digitally from that same day, as well as on 7” red and yellow vinyl from 3rd April (according to webshops).

If you want to listen to the song very early in the morning on Monday, you can tune in on Mix Megapol (Gothenburg). There will be a GT interview, so the song will surely be played during it. According to Per, they’re on from 7.30 am CET. Click here for listening to Mix Megapol’s online broadcast. This morning show is also shown on TV, but we’re not sure there is a live broadcast. Clips hopefully will be available later on Kanal 5’s website or the show’s YouTube channel.

Bring on Monday! 🙂

Gyllene Tider’s new single out on March 18, album on April 24

EMI Sweden announced on a press release that Gyllene Tider’s new single, “Man blir yr”, will be released on March 18. The album “Dags att tänka på refrängen” will be released on April 24th.

Here is the translation of the press release:

Don’t ask us how it happened, but Gyllene Tider seems to have rested themselves into shape again.

Nine years after the comeback album “Finn 5 fel!” we get “Man blir yr”, the first teaser from the .. hm.. comeback album “Dags att tänka på refrängen”, which was recorded while it was the dreariest, darkest and coldest time of year in Christoffer Lundquist’s studio the Aerosol Grey Machine down in Skåne.

– All the songs have been written for Gyllene Tider, so the contenders for the single were razor-sharp. But that’s a good sign, says Per Gessle modestly.

One tends to agree. The rhythm section consisting of Anders Herrlin and Micke Syd is snappier than ever. Göran Fritzon’s Farfisa organ has been serviced and MP’s and Per’s guitars battle it out in stereo.

Besides, dizzieness is as you may know a famous theme in classical pop music. You don’t have to dig very deep to find Tommy Roe’s “Dizzy” and The Beatles’ “Dizzy Miss Lizzy” in every record collection worthy its name.

“Man blir yr” will be digitally released on March 18. But don’t forget to clean your record needle: the song is also going to be released on 7″ red and yellow vinyls. Back to the future!

PS: further good news for all GT fans is that the previously released CD-digipack versions of the albums “Gyllene Tider”, “Moderna Tider” and “Puls” will be also released digitally on March 18. These versions contain a number of bonus tracks that have never been released before on digital format.
