Brainpool single premiere

Brainpool is B-A-C-K! Their new single, “The Last Christmas premiered today on Gaffa.se, made available on SoundCloud by Brainpool’s record label, Adrian Recordings. Single is out digitally on 27th November.

The single has a cute and at the same time interesting cover with this kitten and the golden grenade Christmas ornament she is playing with. The track itself is a real modern Xmas song including all the bells & chimes & some other strange sounds that help you to get into the mood, but still keeping the Brainpool sound through the whole song.

Not that I don’t like Wham!’s “Last Christmas”, but I’d be happy if this year all the radio stations would change at least half of the planned Wham! “Last Christmas” airplays to Brainpool’s “The Last Christmas”.

Just keep on doing what you do, guys!

THE LAST CHRISTMAS

© Brainpool

A five minute break in the midst of preparation
A cigarette to calm your precious nerves
Was it a sound? A reflection in the window?
The sudden presence of another world

But in the deserts of Iran – And in the mountains of Afghanistan
Everybody’s happy, everything is fine
Just keep on doing what you do – There’ll be no shadow hanging over you
There’s no need to worry, oh no – at least not tonight

Your memory drifts to the firm interrogation
With no United Nations by your side
But daddy is rich and your mother is good looking
So hush now little baby, don’t you cry

Cause in the deserts of Iran – And in the mountains of Afghanistan
Everybody’s happy, everything is fine
Just keep on doing what you do – There’ll be no shadow hanging over you
There’s no need to worry, oh no – at least not tonight

Aaaa…

Just keep on doing what you do – no acid rain is gonna pour on you
There’s no need to worry – at least not tonight

And in the deserts of Iran – And in the mountains of Afghanistan
Everybody’s happy, everything’s alright
Just keep on doing what you do – There’ll be no missiles crashing down on you
There’s no need to worry, oh no – at least not tonight

No cause for alarm, they won’t do you no harm
Everybody’s smiling, everything is fine
And in the ghettos of Sudan – and council houses in Birmingham
There won’t be no trouble, oh no – at least not tonight

Update 2nd December: Aftonbladet shared the video to this song. Not a usual Xmas video. 🙂 Click HERE for watching!

Marie Fredriksson’s new single

As Warner Music Sweden informs, ”Sista sommarens vals” is Marie’s 2nd single off “Nu!” and it will premiere in Skavlan this Friday. Skavlan is a Norwegian-Swedish television talk show hosted by Norwegian journalist Fredrik Skavlan. The show will be on air on SVT and it will also be available on SVT Play. The show with Marie starts at 21:00 CET, 22nd November.

Not sure the video clip, which we’ve already informed you about will appear in the show, too or if there is an interview as well, but Marie will surely sing the song. Woohoo!

Gyllene Tider tour premiere – report from the front row

Actually, it’s about 4 hours after the show when I start writing this article. Still can’t sleep, as it was such an out-of-the-world experience. After becoming a Roxer in 1991 and listening to Marie’s and Per’s solo albums, I found Gyllene Tider in 1994. Never had a chance to attend any gigs back in 1996 or 2004, but now my time has come. The tour premiere couldn’t have been any better! Halmstad, front row. What else could you ask for? If you like at least some of the GT tracks, you should definitely see them live one day. What energy on stage! Per was like a Duracell bunny, just like we got used to it during Roxette’s World Tour – or even more energetic – and that voice, yeah, it will surely kill me one day! Micke Syd makes you want to play the drums and DJ Fritzon’s Farfisa magic is just awesome. MP and Anders are demigods of guitar playing, but just because Chris is God. 😉 It’s still not too late to buy your tickets to any of the concerts (except Helsingborg, which is sold out). If you are attending any gigs, maybe don’t read further and don’t check the pics, to have the ”aaaaah moment” when you’re seeing them for the first time this year.

Stage design

Hats off! It was so well-designed. As you could see on our Facebook page, we had a chance to listen a bit to the soundcheck and at the stage design for some time – until the security staff told us to please, go away. Before the concert started, there was a big black curtain with a white Gyllene Tider logo on it, so we knew there will be an intro and of course, some adrenaline involved. And we were right. The curtain fell off right after the intro. Check the setlist section for details. During the show there was a huge, awesome background monitor, on which several designs appeared, related to the songs or just close-ups from the stage or the crowd. There were several cameras, but we don’t know it yet, if they were there to ensure a great visual experience or because of a tour DVD.

Some more things to add:

  • When they came back to the stage for the 1st extra session, Per greeted the international front row. And it was really international: Australia, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Spain, Austria, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Sweden. Sorry if I’ve left out any countries.
  • Per presented ”Det hjärta som brinner”, ”Allt jag lärt mej om livet, har jag lärt mej av Vera” and ”Sommartider” as Anders’s favourite songs.
  • What a great ending with 2 such awesome songs. ”Dags att tänka på refrängen” sounded marvellous live! There were even fireworks after the show, but from the front row, we could just hear the sounds, no visual experience for us.
  • They skipped ”Arabiska nätter” – according to the official setlist that would have been the first song in Extra 2
  • Åsa was also there. She was filming a lot.
  • The security staff was very nice and helpful from the very beginning and it stayed like this until the very end.

Thank God, I still have 6 chances to take some more of this drug with my friends this summer. I’m without voice now, but I’ll surely recover for the next gig. If you haven’t bought your ticket yet, do a favour to yourself and go to see them live! It will worth it. 😉

Two Gyllene Tider live shows before the tour

Today was busy with announcing dates of two live shows of Gyllene Tider before the tour premiere.

1.       Allsång på Skansen

SVT announced all the artists and dates of this year’s Allsång på Skansen. Gyllene Tider is in the premiere show, so the guys perform there on 25th June. SVT will broadcast it live. This is not a complete gig, the whole show is 1-hour-long and four artists / bands are in the 1st show. If you are in Stockholm that day, you can buy your tickets at the entrance of Skansen. There is no separate concert ticket, you just pay the entrance fee (150 SEK) to Skansen. Pre-booking tickets or seats is not possible. Skansen’s main entrance opens at 10 am. Event starts at 19:30 and SVT starts broadcasting it from 20:00. Rehearsals are from 17:00.

Click here for an earlier article of ours with past Allsång performances of Gyllene Tider and Per Gessle.

2.       Hotel Tylösand concert

Per revealed on Gyllene Tider’s Facebook site after midnight that there might be a Hotel Tylösand gig before the tour premiere. Today it was confirmed by Hotel Tylösand, so this nice tradition lives on. The club concert is on 26th June, 1 day after Allsång. Location: Leifs Lounge. It will be an indoor gig and you can also book a table at Leifs Terrace, concert menu including the concert ticket costs 650 SEK / person. The concert ticket itself costs 300 SEK / person. Gyllene Tider’s Man blir yr video premiere and chat with Per Gessle

Gyllene Tider’s video for their first single off Dags att tänka på refrängen album, ”Man blir yr” premiered on Aftonbaldet TV today. When Per posted ”Video is coming soon!” on Gyllene Tider’s facebook page on 1st April, most of us thought it was just an April Fool’s Day post. Now the video is really here. Most scenes in the clip are from TV4’s Fråga Gyllene Tider show or at least from the same day, shot in the rehearsal studio. There are many old Gyllene Tider pictures appearing, too. The ending is too cool with Per throwing a plec. Watch it yourself!

Fans also had a chance to chat with Mr. Gessle on Aftonbladet at 12:30 CET today. The chat lasted for about 35 minutes.

From the chat we get to know that the girl in Man blir yr video is called Filippa. The guy who drew the awesome Gyllene Tider cartoon characters is called Paco. Ullevi was his best concert with Gyllene Tider and it’s still not out of the game this year. There most probably won’t be any more Gyllene Tider signing sessions than the 3 already announced ones. Mr. Gessle promises there will be some unexpected songs on tour. There is a plan to record the tour on DVD.

Per sings much much worse after drinking 4-5 beers, so he never drinks alcohol before a gig. He’s losing focus and it fits his personality very badly. Mr. G is not listening to Justin Bieber (surprise, surprise…).  If he could have a dinner with three other musicians, dead or alive, he would choose John Lennon, Syd Barrett and Mama Cass. To the question regarding what he’s most proud of in his career he replied:

I am proud that I still have a wonderful relationship with the audience. It’s the audience around the world that made all this possible.

He says he has never been angry with anyone in the audience while he was on stage:

Our audience is generally VERY positive and active and you never want to stop playing for them!

Regarding his actual hairdo (the hairdo, the hairdo!!! read it carefully! 🙂 ) he says:

I like my hair right now because I can shake it so cool when I play a ruthless G major on Rickenbacker!

The last question  – coming from Felix – was when he is resting. Per’s reaction:

Felix, you sound like my wife!!!!!! I’ve been floating in my life and get to work with what I love. I’ll rest later.
