Around 9,000 fans saw Roxette in Madrid (some sources say 11,000, but we stick to what Per wrote).

“Soul Deep” and “Watercolours in the Rain” were dropped off the setlist again.

Christoffer played “Paquito el chocolatero”, as intro for Joyride and got everybody to sing “hey, hey hey” along, very typical in Spain.

Vienna (Austria) is getting ready for Roxette

Roxette will give a concert in Vienna, Austria, next Monday 10th of October. This concert is in a way special because of two reasons: it will be the first “official” concert of the European Autumn leg of the neverending tour, which also means a new stage and maybe maybe maybe even a new setlist, and the “first” one after the last concert of the summer tour.

“First” and “official” if you allow me to consider the concert in Tromsø, Norway in September part of the summer tour and the corporate concert Roxette gave for Vestas Wind Systems in Herning, Denmark, last Sunday as not part of the Autumn tour.

I feel that it is special also in another way. The Austrian media has published a couple of articles about the concert, Roxette sounds more often on the radio, and last but not least, currently 2 contests are running to meet Per (ORF) or Roxette (Krone) next Monday.

And as a funny note. I just received a warning from ARBÖ, an Austrian car club, for traffic jam which might be caused by Roxette  on Monday. They warn about possible traffic jams around the area of the concert place, Stadthalle, before and after the concert and advice people to either take the public transport (free with the concert ticket) or plan to go to the concert with enough time. And, of course, getting back home by car might also take a while.

And I am currently thinking, Christoffer was given some suggestions for songs to play during the Joyride intro. Which one will make it? We’ll find out on Monday!

The countdown has started 🙂

PS: consider this more a blog than real news, I am also somehow getting excited about the concert, the first one for a long time I don’t have to travel to somewhere and is so to say “next door” and “home”. If I am allowed to consider myself already half “wiener” after living some years here… But my Spanish side will be present as well, specially because two dear Spanish magic friends are joining the concert as well! I just say “Claaaaaaarence, Claaaaaarence”.

Helena Josefsson on tour with Dolly project

You may remember Helena participated in a documentary film called “Jag är min egen Dolly Parton”. Now she and the other women who participated in the film are on the road as “Dollykollot”.

The first concert took place yesterday in Malmö during the Malmöfestivalen. You can find an interview with Helena and Lotta Wanglén here.

The other concerts are on August 26th in Berns, Stockholm, and August 27th in Stora Teatern, Göteborg.

Helena mentions in her Facebook page that one of the concerts will be recorded by Swedish Television and broadcasted later this year.

Roxette will be on tour until August 2012; 50 concerts done, 80 to go!

Per Gessle reveals in an interview with Hallands Posten that “after Göteborg [concert #50], we still have 80 concerts to go”. The tour will go on until August 2012.  “As soon as we leave a city, the tour promoter wants to book us again, which is the best feedback one can get”, tells Per to Jan-Owe Wikström.

Per also comments on the success of “Radio” on the radio, “we’ve never been played on the radio as much as nowadays.” And it is specially thanks to Latin America, Russia and Eastern Europe, “where we are very successful.”

Per also says that he thinks Marie is in a great shape. “Last week in Locarno was the best I’ve seen of her since, right, the 90ies”, says Per.

As we know, the band is working on a new album, “2rism”. They have already recorded 5 songs and have booked more studios around the world.

“Charm School” has sold half a million copies, which indeed is great nowadays.

Some thoughts about the tour dates.

  1. So far they have done 50 concerts.
  2. Per says they still have 80 to go, and until August 2012.
  3. Of these 80, we know already 23 of the dates (July until December 2011).
  4. This means there are 57 (if the 80 is a fix number and not just estimation) dates still unknown.
  5. Conclusion: save the whole 2012 for more! 🙂
