Gyllene Tider – Hux Flux – Stockholm – 28th July 2023 – #12

After one day off, Gyllene Tider visited Stockholm. The band had a real soundcheck in the afternoon where they tested Flickorna på TV2, Vandrar i ett sommarregn and Sommartider.

The doors opened at 17:30, Uno Svenningsson came on stage at 19:30 and GT started at 20:55. The biggest difference vs. other gigs on tour regarding the stage was that this time the sidedrops were changed to screens. In the front, a guy filmed the audience and the band for the screens, but also there were cameras for this reason in the back. The Hux Flux sign above the stage was well visible in the front rows as well.

In the crowd we saw Clarence and Staffan Öfwerman, as well as Lasse Lindbom. Anders Roos placed his cameras all over the stage and Fredrik Etoall was also taking photos this time. He used a plastic glass as a filter, so it will be exciting to see the end result of his shots.

The security team was quite active during the whole night and it was rather because of some troublemakers in the middle of the audience. The ambulance also had to intervene, because someone fainted in the crowd.

Chrissie didn’t show up in Stockholm and Billy also decided to stay away.

Before Tuffa tider, PG said the ukulele is the world’s sexiest instrument and in winter you can bump into Micke Syd on Costa del Sol while he is playing Här kommer alla känslorna on ukulele. Micke said it works very fine with old Spanish ladies and dogs. Haha. The cables had to be rearranged by Micke N-S after Per moved around a bit with the ukulele. When the song was over, PG gave the ukulele back to MNS holding it in his hands behind his own back.

During the first part of the band presentation, Micke Syd went off stage. He put on the T-shirt with the collage of him and his wife, Helena printed on it. So lovely! When Micke introduced Mr. G, he said Per is the one with the greatest ball-sense in the band, Strandvägen’s Maradona. Haha.

Before Min tjej och jag, Micke said his ex-wife is here and he has his wife on his T-shirt. He would dedicate the song to them and to their kids.

The songs that worked best with the audience last night were Puls, Kung av sand and När vi två blir en.

Next stop is Rättvik, Dalhalla on Saturday.

Gyllene Tider – Hux Flux – Piteå – 26th July 2023 – #11

After a couple of days off, Gyllene Tider reached the most northern spot on this tour and did a fantastic show in Piteå.

The stage was set in the opposite direction vs. past years. Probably, because this way Pite Havsbad could sell dinner tickets as well. So the ones who wanted to see the concert from the terrace restaurant, they could book a table there in advance.

When Per greeted the crowd at GT’s eighth summer tour and fifth comeback tour, he said that they had several gigs in Piteå in the past and they always had much fun, but tonight they would top it. “If you know the lyrics, sing along. If you don’t know the lyrics, sing along anyway.” The audience was very loud during the songs they knew the lyrics to.

Both Chrissie and Billy decided not to travel up North. When the black & blue checkered guitar was brought to Per for the first time, he said he bought a 12-string Rickenbacker in the ’80s, a similar one to that of MP’s. George Harrison had one like that and Tom Petty too. Then it was obvious, it’s Vandrar i ett sommarregn that they would play.

PG was very satisfied with the ginger tea mix Micke Syd prepared for him. They were joking around with it again.

Before Tuffa tider, the ukulele intro talk contained the fact that in winter you can bump into Micke Syd on Costa del Sol while he is playing ukulele. He plays Här kommer alla känslorna and he says it works very fine with old Spanish ladies. Haha. After Tuffa tider, one of the security guys tried to take a selfie with Micke Syd in the pic. Micke realized it and knelt down behind the guy, so he could take that selfie.

Before Min tjej och jag, Micke asked the audience if it’s OK if they do a really good gig, we all go to the bath after. „It’s a good idea now, but it might become a very bad idea soon.” When he said which song would come, the crowd got loud and cheered. He said he loves it when guys scream when he mentions this song title. Micke said that at the rehearsals they tried the trick with Göran, that he was jumping on Micke Syd’s back how they did that in the Parkliv movie, but it doesn’t work anymore. He invited Holmsund’s finest (Malin-My) and Bräkne-Hoby’s finest (Dea) to the front and they animated the crowd to put their hands up in the air and wave to the left, to the right. It looked fab on the screen too.

Anders was moving around the stage a bit more last night. This time he also came forward to stand next to Per and MP while playing the bass. That’s cool, we like it!

The best sing-along songs last night were Juni, juli, augusti, Flickan i en Cole Porter-sång and När vi två blir en.

Next stop is Stockholm on Friday.

Gyllene Tider – Hux Flux – Ronneby – 22nd July 2023 – #10

Hard to believe it, but we are already at halftime of the tour. 10 gigs done, 10 to come. If you haven’t seen any shows yet on the Hux Flux tour, do yourself a favour and get a ticket to at least one of the remaining concerts. You’ll never regret it!

Gyllene Tider met an extremely loud crowd in Ronneby last night. I wouldn’t be able to pick one song that worked the best here, because being it a ballad or an uptempo song, the band gave their full power and the audience sang along all the time and the clapping was continuous too.

During the day, there were some rainy periods and also during Uno’s support act session it started raining. Before GT got on stage there was even rainbow. Ser du sol är du solens vän / Ser du regn ser du regnbågen. We are very lucky so far, because the rain avoided all shows.

Well, Billy had a day off, but part of the security team was the same as in Kalmar, so a little dancing and sing-along from their side was guaranteed too.

During the ginger tea talking, Per said it’s a mix Micke Syd prepares for him before every gig. Micke said he got some help from Dea’s friend now. Dea is from Bräkne-Hoby (close to Ronneby) and his friend provided Micke with a brew that is used at Sweden Rock Festival when the hard rock gangs are too tired and need some kick. So a long night is waiting for PG, Micke said. Dea was laughing and shaking her head all the time.

Before Tuffa tider, Per said the ukulele is the world’s sexiest instrument and if in winter you are on Costa del Sol, you can see Micke Syd playing ukulele there. He is playing Här kommer alla känslorna mainly. Micke said it works very fine with old Spanish ladies, they melt like butter when he plays this song. Per asked him if a video could be found on YouTube. Haha.

During the band presentation, Dea got an extra loud applause and cheering, since she is from the neighbourhood, but Malin-My from the North and all the guys got a loud cheering too, of course. After Per introduced Micke, they hi-fived and Per waved to Peter. He came up on stage. They probably discussed some issues with the in-ear system again, but this time there were no strange moves and I assume there were less problems with the cables. In the meantime, Micke said you always save the best for last when it comes to Christmas presents and all that. So he introduced Mr. G as the man with many beautiful, colorful guitars, a sports car fan and even a car dealer.

Before Min tjej och jag, Micke asked how many were not even born in 1981. Some raised their hands, so Micke said they can find this song on Spotify. Micke’s wife, Helena was standing in front of the stage, filming him. Micke said his tjej is here tonight, so he dedicated and sang the song to her, interacting a lot with her while singing.

PG thanked the crowd for coming. He wished everyone a further nice summer without rain and said he hopes we meet again and everyone takes care of each other.

Next stop is Piteå on Wednesday.

Gyllene Tider – Hux Flux – Kalmar – 21st July 2023 – #9

Kalmar! Last night’s show became one of the Top3 gigs so far on this tour. Fab mood on stage, loud sing-along crowd. What else could you ask for? Billy? Yes! He is back too!

It’s always nice to have a fun security team at the concerts. The security guys in Kalmar certainly belong to that group. Dancing and singing along, enjoying life while working. Love that! It’s also lovely to see Åsa still enjoying all GT songs and dancing along while filming what’s happening on stage.

There must be something new in the process of fixing Per’s in-ear system, because last night he had some problems with it again. From the first song you could see it was uncomfortable for him how it was fixed on his back. New tape? New cable? Or just a new person fixing it? Whatever. Change back to the procedure you used until 2 gigs before, haha.

The ginger tea mix Micke Syd prepared for PG last night tasted like lakrits according to Mr. G. Haha.

When Per started talking about the „tribute to their favourite Dutch band” and he said we might be wondering what that band could be, some in the front row spoiled the fun with shouting „Shocking Blue”. Per ignored it, but Micke Syd said „there are some who saw more than one show on this tour”. Haha. Per also laughed and he went on according to his usual script mentioning Focus and Ekseption. He said he saw Ekseption in 1973, but it wasn’t his thing. He said Anders was 12 and he saw them too, from the front row. Anders corrected him by saying he wasn’t there, because he was on a curfew, sorry. Micke Syd’s George Baker Selection moment ended up in a loud „ojojoj ojojojoj” after a little „una paloma blanca”. Sounded cool! Micke Syd appreciated it with a „boom shaka laka”. Haha. Then Per said they got hooked on a band called Shocking Blue, the ones in the front were right, he pointed at them, so his translation of Send Me A Postcard got played.

Before Flickan i en Cole Porter-sång, Micke N-S brought the checkered blue and black acoustic guitar on stage, but Per walked off stage to the left side and asked technician Peter Fredriksson from the crew to do something with his in-ear system. Peter tried his best, but later we could see nothing had changed. When Per came back after a few seconds, the audience cheered him and he told us he had problems with the cables on his back. Micke N-S was sitting in front of the drums until then. He hopped up when Per got back on stage, but since he started to talk, Micke sat back. Then PG waved to him that he could bring the guitar.

He is playing Gyllene Tider hits and Freestyle and Lili & Susie songs. Micke Syd laughed and said Här kommer alla känslorna works damn good in Marbella.

During the band presentation, after saying that Anders is the band’s best soccer player and Micke Syd is their wonderful drummer, Per thought he would have enough time to go off stage again to have the in-ear system cables fixed. He seemed to forget that Micke would introduce him too. Peter was trying to fix the problem again. Micke Syd went on with introducing PG, the best saved for last. „The one who plays ukulele, who is interested in driving cars and cars in general, the one who took a break again…, where is he? The magical Per Håkan Gessle!” PG rushed back on stage. Micke Syd said Per already had 2 pit stops on this gig, which is a new record that deserves a big applause. He got the tires changed, the oil level checked and the in-ear system taped. Haha.

Before Min tjej och jag, Micke said that at the rehearsals they tried the trick with Göran, that he was jumping on Micke Syd’s back how they did that in the Parkliv movie, but it doesn’t work anymore. Haha.

When the band went off stage before both encores, the audience was clapping and screaming loudly. This time, as I mentioned at the beginning, Billy found his way back to the setlist and was performed as the first song in the first encore. Welcome back! Please, stay forever!

Before the second encore, the crowd started singing Sommartider, of course. When the gang came back on stage, Per said they thought they would skip this song. „We play this one instead!” När vi två blir en got a loud cheering from the audience and an even bigger party came when finally Sommartider was on.

PG thanked the crowd for a fab evening, wished everyone a fantastic summer and said he hopes we meet again and everyone takes care of each other.

Next stop is Ronneby on Saturday.

Gyllene Tider – Hux Flux – Skövde – 19th July 2023 – #8

The welcoming sign to Skövde was a Gyllene Tider LED screen with their old pic from the ’80s. There were also quite some posters in town to promote the event at Boulognerskogen. The band played here in 2019 too and that was a rainy show. This time there was no rain, but it was windy. So windy that for Uno Svenningsson’s session the technicians tried to set up the backdrop, but it was moving too much, so they decided to take it off.

Uno started at 20:00 and GT got on stage at 21:15. The LED wall was back after Lysekil and also the sidedrops were used, as well as the Hux Flux sign on top of the stage.

Because of the cold, ginger tea was brought to Per more times than usual. The mix Micke Syd prepares for PG each night tasted as strawberry again, Per said. It was a Töreboda special, Micke Syd said. While they were talking about this, Micke N-S, who already brought Per his next guitar, sat down in front of the drums and waited until Mr. G finished his talking.

Windy gigs mean plectrum-licking gigs. Haha. Both Per and Anders licked their picks several times, to make them stick to their fingers while playing. Regarding Per’s in-ear system, of which the cable is fixed on his back, something was wrong or at least uncomfortable. He was touching it on his neck many times and made some funny moves.

Before Tuffa tider, Per said the ukulele is the world’s sexiest instrument and if in winter you are on Costa del Sol, you might bump into Micke Syd playing ukulele there. Micke Syd said yes, he plays „una paloma blanca” and some GT hits. They sound very good in Spain.

When the band presentation started, Micke Syd disappeared for a little time – you’ll read it later, why – and Per started with the two fantasic ladies, who are singing divinely. Then came Halmstad’s own boogie king, MP. No party without Göran, PG said. When introducing Anders, he only said „Anders Herrlin on bass”, but Micke Syd added „he’s damn handsome”. Anders reacted with an „eh” in the mic. Micke Syd was introduced as GT’s spine and Micke introduced Per as the man, the myth, the legend and sports car fan. Haha.

Before Min tjej och jag, Micke said he would hang out in the front a bit more. He would sing a song. Per wrote it for him to sing in 1981 and back then Micke asked PG if it was something like the Yellow Submarine with Ringo. Ehm. Haha. Here it turned out why Micke disappeared. He opened his jacket and showed his T-shirt with a picture of him and his wife, Helena. He said they would have their 18th wedding anniversary tomorrow, so he dedicated the song to her. How sweet! Happy anniversary! After MTOJ – as Micke Syd usually does during the past few concerts – he threw the mic to his technician, Albin, who caught it.

After the gang went off stage, the audience was clapping and screaming „en gång till”. Before the first encore, BoJo came up on stage and while standing on the side, he was checking if the crowd was loud enough. He put his hand to his ear to listen, so the crowd got louder. Haha. Unfortunately, it seems that Billy is on sick leave, so he didn’t appear in the first encore. We hope he gets well soon and will shine on stage again one of these days.

Before the second encore, the crowd started singing Sommartider. When the guys and girls came back on stage and the audience was still singing Sommartider, Per said they thought they would skip this song. Haha. „We play this one instead!” And they played När vi två blir en, which I think was the highlight of the gig. The audience got into it very much, singing along loudly.

PG thanked for a fantastic evening and said he hopes the audience had as much fun as they did. He wished everyone a fantastic summer and said he hopes we meet again and everyone takes care of each other.

Next stop is Kalmar on Friday.
