Roxette to perform 25 songs on the forthcoming tour

Per Gessle has revealed in today’s inteview for Swedish radio station Mix Megapol that Roxette would probably perform 25 songs on the new tour – they rehearsed 5 songs from the new album as well. In the new German interview for Frankfurter Rundschau he also reveals that they will play their biggest hit mostly

That’s simply because I’m a fan myself. If I go to see U2, the Stones or AC/DC, I want to hear their greatest hits. I remember going to a concert of The Police’s Reunion Tour once and they only played three of their hits – and then all this other shit they had been doing. I hated it and left. If David Bowie ever goes on tour again, I’ll want to hear the hits that have meant so much to me. Not the ones he happens to be desperate to play. If I pay – play for me!

After selling out four concerts in Cape Town and Sun City three months before the date the fifth one was added yesterday to the 2011 Roxette World Tour. The new date is The Superbowl in Sun City on Friday, May 13th. It means that not only Brazilian fans get to see Roxette five times this year 🙂

Update no 2:
The first Argentinian date – Buenos Aires on April 4th – is (almost) sold out. Over 8,400 tickets were sold. The second BA show on April 5th went on sale in the last few days.

Roxette to perform for the second time in Czech Republic

Roxette will perform for the second time in Czech Republic this June. The first concert will take place in O2 Arena in Prague on Jun 5th and is almost sold-out. Roxette decided to add another gig for Czech fans – this time in Ostrava on June 27th at CEZ Aréna.

“After already sold-out show in Prague, Czech fans will have a second chance to see the spectacular comeback of the Swedish pop duo” Jan Kostecki, concert organizers representative, says.

Tickets for the Ostrava concert will go on sale on Monday, January 24th at Ticketpro and Ticket Art.
Tickets are available from 690 to 990 crowns.

German concert tickets selling very well

Our reader Thorsten asked the German tour promoters about Roxette’s ticket sales. Here’s what he found out:

Out of curiosity I contactet the German concert agency that organizes Roxette’s German concerts and also the local organization staff for each
of the 4 German concerts in Cologne, Leipzig, Berlin and Oberursel. I got official confirmation today from Marek Lieberberg Konzertagentur (mlk.com)
that the Berlin gig is definitely sold out with 10.000 tickets. The
Hessentag staff responsible for the concert in Oberursel just e-mailed me
that by the end of December 5.000 tickets had been sold. By today ticket
sales have surpassed 10.000 already for the Roxette gig. Additionally they
let me know that the Hessentags-Arena will hold a capacity of 30.000
people for the Rox concert and that I should better hurry to buy tickets.
The agency responsible for the Cologne gig at Tanzbrunnen (DBE) wouldn’t
tell me the exact sales figures. But after I asked if the rumor was true
that already more than 5.000 of the ca. 10.000 tickets had been sold, the
reply was “we recommend to buy tickets soon!“. So I figure a substantial
number of tickets has already been sold. I’m still waiting for a response
for the Leipzig concert and will let you know what I heard if that is of
interest to you and this news site.

Thanks for the investigations, Thorsten! Of course all the other readers are invited to share interesting stories and news as well via our contact form or comments!

Meanwhile the recently added concert dates in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm appear to be deleted from roxette.se’s tour plan, while still part of Livenation’s. That doesn’t have to mean they are cancelled as we learned from the re-appearance of the Dubai gig. So let’s wait for the next tour update that Per indicated recently.
