Roxette XXX Tour – Hunter Valley, Australia – February 28 – #25

After last night’s ultrasensational gig in Sydney, everyone was wondering what the band prepared for today’s sold out concert. Well, Roxette never disappoint, so the crowd at Bimbadgen Winery in Hunter Valley got a fabulous show tonight.

It was A Day On The Green gig just like the one in Yarra Valley a week ago and so the people walking around the location could see those beauty signs with all the Rox lyrics on them. The concert started again in the sunset, but it soon got dark, so the brilliant stage lighting could be enjoyed much more.

There was a huge crowd and they all got the Saturday night fever already at the beginning of the gig, so they were on their feet to show how they can dance to those magic vibes. While in Yarra Valley the security team first tried to make people sit down, here, in Hunter Valley even the security guys and event staff joined the party and were dancing during The Look. One must love it!

The band didn’t show any signs of missing a day off between 2 concerts. They were putting all their energy into making this last Aussie gig an unforgettable one. And they succeeded. I’m sure even the kangaroos in the vineyard had one hell of a party.

Per’s touching comment after the concert:

A DAY ON THE GREEN in Bimbadgen. Oh Yeah! Couldn’t imagine a better finale to the NZ/OZ XXX Tour!!!! We love it here!!

Thanx everyone for taking care of us, being so kind and showing true affection for this little band from the south of Sweden. We will never forget the singalong heroes and crazy but irresistable dancing aficionados that have rocked our world for a couple of weeks.

This tour will live on. We truly hope we can come back to play for you again. No promises, this band moves in mysterious ways. But we’d love to come back, you know that!!

Now it’s back to Europe for us, the studio is waiting. And Pelle’s personal trainer. And Magnus has to find a barber. And the European XXX-tour is that not far away. See y’all in the summer starting in May! Love from P&M&C&C&M&P&D

Now comes a bit more than 2 months break and the next gig, the first one of the next tour leg is on 10th May in Milan, Italy! Promising start with a sold out show! Europe is looking very much forward to having Roxette back! Don’t forget that in April we get a new Roxette single off a new Roxette album that is planned to be released at the end of October, so the tour break won’t be so boring. Woohoo!

Roxette XXX Tour – Yarra Valley, Australia – February 21 – #21

As we already wrote about it, tonight’s concert was sold out in the Yarra Valley. Approximately 11,000 people went to see Roxette at Rochford Wines. Those walking around the place could bump into Roxette lyrics everywhere, since the organizers of A Day On The Green put signs including the lyrics to several spots (1; 2; 3; 4). The DJ playing Sommartider before the show was a real surprise both for the die hard fans and for the band & crew. The song didn’t have much effect on the rest of the Australian audience though.

The whole scenery was quite picturesque. Roxette started playing in the sunset. The weather was hot, more than 40 degrees, so no surprise Per posted the question ”First time in shorts on stage???” before the concert. You guessed it, he was too coward to wear shorts during the performance, but at least he left the glam rock jacket backstage. He could have joined Marie in white though. This was their first open-air concert since long and on this tour leg this was the first one with screens on the sides, so that everyone in that huge area could clearly see what was happening on stage.

What was happening on stage? Magic! Yeah, again. Marie was sitting this time, too and she was – as expected – on a high and Per was bouncing around as usual. The band helped the crowd feel the weather even hotter than it already was. Actually, the security guys wanted to make the audience sit, but you can’t help jumping up from your seat when you hear those Rox tunes. You just can’t. So the security team gave up and let the crowd party.

The setlist tonight had even more of a festival length. Compared to the past 3 concerts they now left out The Heart Shaped Sea, so in the end it was 17 songs performed.

PG after the show:

A DAY ON THE GREEN UPDATE: Truly magnificent evening. Thanx everyone for making this such a memorable night. We had a blast in spite of the crickets trying to kill us!!!
Day off tomorrow, flying to Sydney! Vids coming up eventually, dears! /P.

Next gig is on Monday (23rd February) in Wollongong, Australia.
