Per Gessle Unplugged Tour – #19 – 9th May 2022 – Umeå

Last 3 shows up in the North! Lucky northern towns got the three tour closing dates with Umeå among them.

Per and the band enjoyed the show so much you could feel it during the whole concert. They were performing fantastically and kidding each other all the time.

After the first song, Per asked the technicians – while he was pointing at his own in-ear system – to turn down the sound of the gentlemen in white next to him, aka Christoffer, because „Christoffer, your voice is so muscular that you take over my brain”. Haha.

The O’boy jokes won’t ever stop! The story-telling was much fun too and the audience liked Per’s anecdotes a lot. Anyway, the crowd was rather reserved until they realized at Min hälsning that this gig can come to an end. Haha. They liked the GT songs the most, but also Småstadsprat, Tycker om när du tar på mej and Varmt igen were among their favourites, giving a long and loud applause after those songs.

Before Det hjärta som brinner, Per asked the crowd what they think about some Gyllene Tider and they were into it. Mr. G said there is a song from 1981 that was released on Moderna Tider and it tends to be fun sometimes.

Ljudet av ett annat hjärta, the most beautiful song on this tour – I know I haven’t mentioned it yet. Haha. Sounded fabulous last night again. Juni, juli, augusti is another favourite of mine in this arrangement and it also sounded amazing in Umeå. Impossible that now it’s only 2 more times we can hear these songs live in this setting.

The bass solo by Magnus was so much fun last night – he is getting more and more creative – that Christoffer couldn’t stop laughing and so his singing in Tuffa tider was hilarious.

The crowd stood up before the first encore and was clapping hard, so the gang came back on stage. Christoffer joked that they would play for another hour, but it didn’t happen, unfortunately. Hard to convince Mr. G. Haha.

Before the second encore the audience stood up again and we didn’t have to wait for too long to have PG & Co. back on stage. Per thanked the crowd and said „we actually live on applause”. Umeå people were very happy to hear Per’s words before Vid hennes sida that it’s from the latest – he hopes, not the last – Gyllene Tider album. For Sommartider we all stood up again and enjoyed it to the full. När alla vännerna gått hem became a sitting song, but the band got their well-deserved standing ovation at the end of this show too.

Next stop is Skellefteå on 10th May!

Fan book – a ”thank you” present for Marie

Astrid Lenhard, one of the die hard Roxers had the idea of making a book for Marie. A bit more than a month ago she asked fans to send her one page designed by themselves if they want to join in. The idea sounded awesome! Many fans decided to create their own page, saying thank you to Marie, writing some lines, including pictures of themselves or even with Marie. Astrid created the design of the book itself and besides summarizing the idea, also saying thanks to Ms Effe and including the list of fans who joined, she designed a beautiful cover. ”Vad vore vi utan dig” (= ”What would we be without you”). Exactly. What would we be without our beloved Marie?

Astrid had the plan to hand it over to Marie in Luleå or Umeå. And she succeeded in it. In Umeå she met Marie before the last concert during the tour and had the chance to give her the book. Marie was very happy about it and liked it a lot.

Astrid also put together a wonderful video where you can see how the book looks like, page by page. Thank you very much again for the fab idea, Astrid!

Marie’s tour: Umeå, April 19th #19

This fabulous tour came to an end yesteday April 19th in Umeå after two months of travelling and enjoying to the maximum.

Yesterday everything felt like more intense. Marie interacted with the fans more than ever and gave everything for the audience. The band played as if there was no tomorrow and we gave all our best to jump, dance, sing, clap and have fun. It was a very special ending to a very special tour.

The setlist remained the same, so the show started with a Så stilla så långsamt that felt slower and more beautiful than ever… and the fun then started with Kom villa hos mig. The few fans attending the show were spread here and there but we all stood up to the start of the song as if it had become already a nice interaction routine. The band loved that and rocked exceptionally. I couldn’t help crying to that, as this would be the last time we would do that.
Marie welcomed everybody and explained that it was the last concert of the tour and it was special to finish it in the North since they have been there very few times.
One could hear and feel in her voice that it would be an emotional last show.
The three acoustic songs were very beautiful, specially Så skimrande (yes, I just love this one, a very special song for me) brought me to tears again. B E A U T Y.
The audience started to melt a bit more into the show and joined the standing up fans with Efter stormen, which was a major big awesome pop party.
Chris and Jokke had much fun playing the guitars for Den sjunde vågen and went totally bananas together with Pelle at the end. Surjo had a great time during the whole show and moved here and there many times.
Everybody was standing when Marie came back to the stage to rock the house. Jokke and Chris killed us all with the smashing guitars!
And then suddenly the moment everybody had been somehow trying to avoid or speak about arrived. The first notes of Tro started to sound, all fans in the various rows held eachother and sang along. Marie had mentioned before the song started that the tour was now coming to an end and thanked the band and the crew for a fantastic tour and then the audience and fans who came to her concerts. She looked very touched and emotional. Astrid had organised flowers to give to Marie so we all got one or two and held them during the song and gave them to her afterwards. Micke and Chris took many of the flowers and gave them to Marie but Marie came to the edge of the stage to get the flowers of 3 of us as well. It felt like nobody wanted to leave!

After the concert we could say bye to Marie and the band at the hotel. Some people just were there to get something signed or take a picture but some of us just wanted to say thanks for the wonderful tour.
This time most of us stood in a line and first said hi to Pelle, Surjo, Chris and Jokke and then Marie and Micke walked by and thanked all of us (and we thanked them).
A perfect closing to a perfect last concert and tour!

Thank you!

PS: And today we had the chance to interview Pelle so stay tuned! Three interviews are on the way.
