We will collect the different official chart entries and positions of Roxette’s new album “Charm School” in this post. How is the album doing in your country? Let us know! Please provide sources to your numbers.
Update February 21: Roxette entered straight to #1 in Germany! Announcement by Media Control | EMI (who also provided us with a new promo picture).
Update April 1: “Charm School” enters South Africa! And Per says that it has been certified gold in Switzerland! Germany and Austria should follow that style, while the album is heading to platinum in Sweden, according to the latest Live Nation press release. And CS is not the only charting album: The current Roxette action brought the “Hits!” compilation up to #65 in the German charts…
Update April 14: The album has reached the Brasilian charts! According to different retailer charts it’s also selling well in Argentina, but the official chart site doesn’t get updated. There’s also lack of official sources for Russia and Asian countries. We’re grateful for your help!
Update April 20: “Charm School” got Gold in Germany for more than 100,000 sales! Russia now included in the table.

*In the first week it was #2 of the “Heatseekers 20” in Wallonia, which features the sales under the top 100.
**Russian charts are published only every second week. Original source is this.
The pics are amazing. Yeah, I remember when Per mentioned about the photo session, can’t wait to see more of those.
the mass of marketing in germany reaps the fruit of its labour
Charm School climbs from 34 to 29 this week in Finland!
Charm School entered the official Hungarian Top 40 chart at #19.
Both Joyride and Tourism peaked here as #4, so it is a very nice start, I think.

Just to make it clear – it’s the official list, right?
Yes, this is the official album chart in Hungary, maintained by MAHASZ (Magyar Hanglemezkiadók Szövetsége, Association of Hungarian Record Companies).
And ‘She’s Got Nothing On (But the Radio)’ is #9 on the official Hungarian Radio Airplay Top 40 chart. 🙂

You were faster than me! 🙂
“CHARM SCHOOL” entered UNITED WORLD CHART at 20. It’s just for first three days of release. Quite good 🙂
http://www.mediatraffic.de/albums.htm
So does it mean that through 3 first days 49,000 copies of CS were sold?
How does mediatraffic.de gahter this data? What are their sources? I somehow doubt that these numbers are accurate – not only for Roxette but also for the ohter albums and artists.
From their website: “THE TOP-SELLING ALBUMS ACCORDING TO GLOBAL SALES DATA AND NATIONAL ALBUM-CHARTS
OFFICIAL NATIONAL CHARTS FROM USA, JAPAN, UNITED KINGDOM, GERMANY, AND FRANCE WITH REAL SALES DATA
OFFICIAL NATIONAL CHARTS FROM CANADA, AUSTRALIA, ITALY, SPAIN, BRAZIL, MEXICO, NETHERLANDS, SWITZERLAND, BELGIUM, SOUTH AFRICA, SWEDEN, AUSTRIA, NORWAY, DENMARK, FINLAND, IRELAND, ARGENTINA, CHILE, COLOMBIA, VENEZUELA, NEW ZEALAND, MALAYSIA, POLAND, PORTUGAL, HUNGARY, CZECH REPUBLIC, SLOVAKIA, GREECE, AND SOUTH KOREA ARE WEIGHTED TO THE SIZE OF ITS MARKETS ACCORDING TO THE LATEST IFPI-STATISTICS
(EXCEPTION: ALBUMS WITH HUGH SALES IN THESE COUNTRIES ARE WEIGHTED HIGHER)
ALBUMS WHICH PLACED IN MOST OR ALL OF OUR MONITORED COUNTRIES, GET ADDITIONAL POINTS FOR COUNTRIES WHICH HAVE NO OFFICIAL CHARTS LIKE RUSSIA, CHINA, INDIA, TURKEY ETC.”
And actually I think it’s for the first regular week of Charms School release – 14-21. 02. 2011
The ranking on that site is absolutely not official. It’s just an amateur website created by two individuals. Very little info regarding their methodology. Not supported by any organization. This chart is of no relevance.
In Denmark album debuts on place no 11.

If you know some more accurate world charts, fell free to share 🙂
Good news about Hungary and Denmark! Did Ireland get a release yet?
I would say that Ireland is combined with UK release somehow…
Yes, looks plausible. Have to watch it, “Hits!” charted great there.
#16 for CS in Poland.
CS drops 2 positions to #29 in Belgium (Flanders) in the second week

CS enters at #57 in Belgiam (Wallonia) in the second week
http://www.ultratop.be/fr/weekchart.asp?cat=a&year=2011&date=20110226
In the first week it was #2 of the Heatseekers 20 in Wallonia
this has the same principle as Ultratip (singles) but then for albums… #102 you coud say…
http://www.ultratop.be/fr/weekchart.asp?cat=ah&year=2011&date=20110219
Thanks for your input! Updated the table.
Sascha, you don’t want to put 102 in the table? 😉
I’m not sure, since it’s just a theoretical #102. Otherwise I did it with the single… 😛
Edit: included with a footnote.
We in Belgium like to make things complicated. In politics and in music charts. 😀
Looks like that! 😉
The French charts have been updated too but no CS in the top 200. France has proved once again it is a difficult market for Roxette.
CS falls to #38 in Norway
no 45 in Italy.
In the Netherlands the album drops from 21 to 58.
at this woeld charts album are at nr. 20!!!

No way to know if the album has charted in Argentina or not. The weekly sales chart ran by CAPIF (Argentina’s Chamber of Music Producers) has not been updated since January 22! They’re a disgrace.
