Has Per recorded soundtrack for Jonas Åkerlund movie “Small Apartments”?

Per revealed that he has written and recorded a soundtrack album for a movie during this year. Could it be a new 2012 Jonas Åkerlund film called “Small Apartments” starring Dolph Lundgren, Billy Crystal or Peter Stormare? IMDB Small Apartments 2012.

We are only guessing, you know :-)

Update, December 2: Per Gessle’s comment seems to deny this rumour.

Wow, what a line-up! Wish it was true!

And Matt Lucas is in there! Hallelujah! And Jimmy Knoxville! And Billy Crystal! And james Caan! Jeezus, Jonas – how did you manage this?

Universal to acquire EMI Music

After a lot of turmoil during the last couple of years, it seems like Roxette’s long-term record company EMI Music found a new home at Universal Music, the world’s biggest record company. Universal finally won the bidding game against Warner Music, but the deal still has to go through regulatory investigations because of its huge combined market share in recorded music. That process could take up to a year.

Meanwhile, current and past EMI artists seem to be quite happy with the deal. Dave Holmes, the manager of Coldplay, said that the deal “can only be a positive” for EMI. “I look forward to working with the Universal team,” he added. Mick Jagger said that he “particularly welcomed” the new owners. The Rolling Stones switched from EMI to Universal in mid 2008. “This is a very positive development and I particularly welcome the fact that EMI will once again be owned by people who really do have music in their blood,” he said.

Time will tell if this deal will bring any changes to Roxette’s future at the record company. EMI’s publishing arm is likely to be sold to Sony/ATV.

Jonas Isacsson responds to Roxette fans

Since Roxette’s longterm guitar player Jonas Isacsson didn’t participate on the latest album “Charm School” and the current World Tour, many fans wondered why they stopped to work together and wished him to reappear on new projects like the “Tourism 2″ (working title) album. Jonas now responded to fans on Facebook in sort of an open letter:

Dear friends!
I’m honored and happy that you enjoy my
guitarplaying so much.
But let Roxette do their new stuff as they want.
It took some time for me to get rid of the ghost and
… grasp that I don’t work with them anymore.
I was sad but now I’m getting over it.
The old records are still there for all to hear and I’m
proud of my work. But that was then!
This is now and Rox are doing fine without me.
And I’m doing fine without them.
Let us carry on just like that.

Take care!
Jonas Isacsson

His last appearance with Roxette was the “Night Of The Proms” tour 2009 and the performance for Princess Victoria’s wedding in June 2010.

Good luck with your new projects, Jonas!

Thanks to Roland for the Info!

Update: Roxette comment this article via Facebook:

We all love Jonas dearly + are sure we’ll work together again.

Mats Udd to direct the new Roxette video

26-year-old Mats Udd from Falun is working on the new Roxette video for “She’s got nothing on (but the radio)” single. The world premiere is scheduled for January 7th.

EMI Svenska liked Mats Udd’s videos which he did for e.g. Swedish musician Familjen and he was appointed to record the new Roxette video in the end of November.

- I gave them four proposals and one of them was chosen. Just over a week ago I was told that “we are doing this”. On Monday I filmed Per and Marie and on Tuesday we did a story part.

The video will be put together in New York as Mats Udd is planing to spend Christmas holidays there.

He has made many other clips before for such artists like Timo Räisänen, First Aid Kit and Those Dancing Days. With Roxette for the very first time he has got the chance to work with a much larger productions.

The making of “Roxette 2011″ – the story so far

It all started around 18 months ago. It was almost like a little miracle. First the big comeback news, then a tour with an orchestra, a summer tour and now a world tour starting in a few months. But probably the most interesting thing is the brand new album, the first one since “Room Service” in 2001. Now the waiting is almost over. So here are some highlights from this 18 months long journey of making the (yet unnamed) new “Roxette 2011″ album.

2009-05-05 Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson announce on a press conference in Antwerp that Roxette is back for real and will participate on the Night Of The Proms tour this autumn.

2009-05-28 Per says that they plan to go back to the studio this summer and want to release a new song until Christmas.

2009-07-17 Per writes on Twitter that he just recorded the first two new demos at the Aerosol Grey Machine studio in Vallarum.

2009-08-07 Per is back at the Tits’n'Ass studio in Halmstad with Mats MP Persson, working on new demos.

2009-09-23 Per says in an interview that some new demos are finished. Only acoustic versions, no arrangements, no intros, no solos, no backing vocals. The start of recording a brand new album.

2009-10-23 The plan is to continue with recording during Night Of The Proms. A hotel room will be used as a mobile recording studio. Marie is eager to record a whole new album.

2009-10-26 Per says in an interview that an additional room is booked for Antwerp and Rotterdam.

2009-11-15 Per says that he has around 13 songs written and now 2 of them are almost finished. The plan is to continue with recordings in professional studios after the Night Of The Proms tour finishes.

2009-11-28 Roxette have some 14 demos ready for full recording. Marie says that they sound fantastic and when she heard Per’s demos for the first time, she was really enthusiastic. Now it sounds very roxettish, but the plan is to update the sound a little bit.

2009-12-06 Per says that Roxette booked Atlantis studio for recording session in the spring. But recordings will start in January at Christoffer’s Aerosol Grey Machine in Vallarum. Marie will try to sing several vocals to each song to pick up the best one. The new songs sound like a modern version of their “Look Sharp!” so far.

2009-12-10 Antwerp, Rotterdam and now also Munich are places where Roxette are recording for the new album.

2009-12-15 And Bremen.

2009-12-17 And also Hannover.

2010 tour bootleg: Halmstad, audio x 2

Time flies – 10 long, windy days passed since I had posted the last bootleg here on RXB. So now it’s a high time to present you two “new” audio recordings from one and only concert. Sweden’s Liverpool, Roxette’s hometown, småstad or whatever expression you would like to use – it’s all about rainy and cold Halmstad which got a little bit warmer on August 14th.

These two recordings have different quality, but I do hope you will appreciate hard and very exhausting work of two groups – Czech fans and so-called superduo Justyna & Kai :-)

The first bootleg (let’s call it Czech) includes all songs – the last ones from Gyllene Tider are ripped from the well-known YouTube videos. The second one (it could be Polish-German one) has a nice cover plus all the songs except “It must have been love”, “Joyride” and two GT’s classics like “Sommartider” and “När alla vännerna gått hem”. So it’s up to you to choose which one is the bigger, the better.

Czech bootleg ||||||| Polish-German bootleg

To quote the Man:

Thanx for yesterday. A truly magic night that we’ll never forget. Rox were great, GT were great, the crowd was awesome!!!! Cheers, P.

P.S.
St. Petersburg in audio is still waiting in the line.
Do you have any other recordings?
Maybe you ripped any of these video bootlegs I posted.
If yes, please share with us with your recordings – here in the comment section, on Fb or Twitter. You can use our e-mail address: office@roxetteblog.com

2010 tour bootleg: Moscow, video

So it’s another day and another bootleg. It will be hard to beat yesterday’s live album with any other audio recording that I have, so today I chose a video bootleg for a change. It was recorded in – suprise, suprise – Moscow! So Russians did it again. Not only recorded the concert in a very good quality, but someone (was he/she Russian?) recoreded this nice, sometimes a little bit shaky and too-many-heads-on-the-screen video. Not everything is there (Kalinka-Malina is missing for instance), but well, you cannot have everything, can you?

What can I say? It’s just worth watching. And if you know the person who did this, please let us know – we would like to write it was You, Dear Fan (though no money for copyrights, sorry :-)

If you have any creative idea how to call it or what kind of cover it should have, please feel free and drop a line in the comment section!

See the screenshots from the recording

DOWNLOAD

You will download 2 torrent files. There are two versions of this video bootleg. One is over 4 GB and it is divided into separate songs, the second one is smaller, about 1.5 GB and everything is in one part. Enjoy!

2010 tour bootleg: “From Russia with love” (Moscow, audio)

I was a little bit anxious to post bootlegs from 2010 tour, but since we got an official ok from The Man through Twitter, so it became just question of time with which bootleg to start with? Fresh interview with Per!

Head over to www.roxette.se to read a brand new interview with Per, talking about Roxette touring and recording again – and Marie & Per’s motivation behind it!

“Gessle over Poland” audio bootleg

So here it comes. Afer one year of preparations and waiting we have finally managed to end up our works on yet another bootleg from “Party crasher tour” – to be honest – one of the funniest Roxette fan experiances in the 21st century.

After more or less professional recordings from Prague, London, Amsterdam and Stockholm (with Marie) as well as live tracks on amazing double album “Gessle over Europe”, it’s time for Warsaw. Per Gessle and his band came to Poland to play just one concert in Stodola rock club in Warsaw on April 22nd. In fact Poland was the only country on the tour list where Roxette/Gessle have never played live before. Some sources say that there were around 1,000 people in the audiance, but on the other hand I was informed about 700 tickets sold. Who’s right, who’s wrong? Who really cares?

Back to the topic. It’s a bootleg and it’s a compilation. So the quality differs from song to song constantly. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s not so good, but that is how it works when you use five different recording sources. Give Slawek Sztul – he made it all possible (‘na na na’ on “The look” is his! :) and Blanka ‘Blunek’ Pentela – she has designed all the covers for “Gessle over Poland” included in the set – a big hand. I cannot forget about Ela ‘Blue_girl’ Krysinska – thank you for your help and contribution. It was amazing to work with you guys!

Here’s the set list:

Stodola, Warsaw, April 22nd 2009
01. Sound Of Music / Dressed for success
02. Drowning in wonderful thoughts about her
03. Stupid
04. The party pleaser
05. Wish I could fly
06. She doesn’t live here anymore
07. 7twenty7
08. I have a party in my head (I hope it never ends)
09. Late, later on
10. Listen to your heart
11. Do you wanna be my baby
12. Opportunity nox
13. Doesn’t make sense
14. Church of your heart
15. Dangerous
16. Joyride

Encore 1:
17. C’mon
18. Are you an old hippie, Sir?
19. The look
20. It must have been love

Encore 2:
21. (I’m Nnot your) Steppin’ stone
22. Queen of rain

DOWNLOAD (bootleg + covers)

“Gessle over Poland” DVD bootleg will follow shortly. The audio stays the same, but you will get the footage to ALL SONGS. Prepare your Torrents!

New Roxette album postponed to 2011

As The Daily Roxette reports, the upcoming Roxette album got moved from end of this year to early 2011. The recordings go well, but they plan to have a summer break (where they’ll perform live around the Baltic sea) to resume recording until October. The actual plan is to record 16 songs with the first single to be released for Christmas 2010.

Comment: In my opinion that’s a good decision!
- The current EMI turmoil could lead to a quite insecure release/promotion situation this year. EMI was rumored to have postponed the next Coldplay album for example.
- The pre-christmas market is always very crowded with album releases. Nobody knows if Roxette’s name is still big enough to gather enough attention between such a huge competition. Roxette have a good history of winter/spring releases (all studio albums except (POP and LS).
- Judging from previous release interviews they always got fresh inspiration through a recording break.

I guess a first single already 2-3 months in advance of the album will keep us more excited than single/album released within 2 weeks… :D
