Comments
Marie appeared barefoot and remained like that throughout the whole show. The energy this time was amazing, both from Marie and band and the audience.

Efter Stormen turned into a big party, everybody standing up, dancing and singing along. When Marie left the stage after Den sjunde vågen the audience stood up as well and kept on clapping until she came back for Mellan sommar och höst, which rocked big time, still with a standing audience. During Sjunde something funny happened too: at the end when Chris was doing his guitar solo she was so much into it and enjoying it that she was surprised that somebody was on stage to pick her up and leave the stage, she laughed in a ‘oh yes. I have to go now’ way.
During Tro everybody stood up again, but this was because Marie made the sign to us to stand up.

There were many international fans in this show too and Marie took the chance to greet all the Roxette fans and said that ‘they are great’.

All in all for me the best concert so far. It seems Chris agreed, at least he said so to some fans after the show.

We had the chance to interview Jokke before the show.. stay tuned!

There were many familiar faces at tonight’s concert. Even Mister Magnus, Sven Lindström and Helena Josefsson were there to see Marie. You might remember Linnea Henriksson, who was the support act during last year’s Gyllene Tider tour. She was also there and enjoyed Marie’s show very much.

Miss Effe’s voice was in top top top shape, but her leg didn’t want to cooperate, so it’s good that Jokke was close to her and Marie could take his arm when she needed it. She explained it was because of her illness, but she still rocked it big time and the audience went very emotional. After the break, there was only one song this time: Tro. Fans prepared red cardboard hearts with the word ”TACK!” (= Thank you!) or the text ”Vi älskar dig!” (= We love you!) on them and held them up during the last song. Marie and the band loved this lovely surprise. You can see the hearts on Karin’s (the hearts were her idea) and Linnea’s photos and check Heartland Anne’s Tro video. OMG! How touching is that when the hearts are appearing! And look at Pelle how caring he is at the very end. So lovely!

Additional reporting by Judith:
Marie received various standing ovations during the evening. When Bo brought a chair for Marie and she preferred to go on performing standing despite the pain, the audience showed their respect for Marie standing up and clapping. Also during the break, which took a bit longer than usual, the audience was standing up. And, of course, at the end during and after ‘Tro’.
‘Efter Stormen’ was welcomed and cheered with lots of ‘action’ from the audience too, the excellent arrangements for this song just don’t let you remain seated. Dance!

Next concert is tomorrow (8th March) in Växjö!

There were no surprises in the setlist this time. Judging by pictures of the audience, the place seemed to be fully packed.

What is Per Gessle cooking?

Since that studio photo of Per and Chris with David Guetta was posted on Roxette Official 2 days ago, tons of fans started discussions about what this new project could be. Well, yeah, we are discussing this topic continuously, whenever PG is in the studio. But is it a remix album in progress now or something completely new? Is it related to Roxette or some Per solo stuff?

Mr G said it even in one of the Nordic Rox shows that it’s easy to get stuck in your own style, so for example, he tries writing in keys that he doesn’t know that well. Why not a new genre then?

You might remember our earlier article about Per Gessle featuring Galavant, a house duo from Halmstad. They were together in the studio on 19th September 2013. It’s still not known what they recorded there, but that work must be also related to this new project.

One month later, on 24th October 2013, Per posted a selfie from a helicopter, saying he ”talked a lot to DJ Balthazar. Such a generous and talented fella.” DJ Balthazar is a Bulgarian DJ, whose music is something unique between techno and progressive house.

One month passed and Mr G posted a question on 18th November 2013 on Roxette Official:

Had a big “remix-discussion” over dinner….. Do you like remixes of our songs? If so, any favourites from the jolly and colourful Rox-past?

When it comes to remixes, fans are divided into 2 bigger groups. One part of them likes or even loves most of the remixes, the other part is never listening to them. I’m personally not much into remixes, but my ears say Bassflow did magic to ”The Sweet Hello, The Sad Goodbye”. One thing is sure: almost everyone agrees on that anything can be better than ”Dance Passion” (1987).

So now here is this David Guetta piece of info some months later and we still don’t know what it is all about. I think via remixes, PG’s music can reach and be more appealing to the younger generation, so it’s fine to spread the word that way, too. But who knows if it’s really about remixes?

Surely this is not the only project Per is working on, since he was also posting a lot about vintage synthesizers, studio sessions in AGM and T&A studios and all this DJ info. He said it in interviews that he is also working on a soundtrack for a new Jonas Åkerlund film (which Jonas starts shooting this spring) and we know new Roxette material is also in sight in a near or a more distant future.

Hard to be patient when there are so many exciting bits and pieces of news, but again, Roxers are the best at waiting. Hope to hear the outcome of the project(s) quite soon.

Comment

There were not too many familiar faces at the concert tonight, but as Nina Wolfframm informs on FB, the show was the best so far, a million times better than e.g. Helsingborg. Most probably, after the first 3 concerts Marie and the band feel safer, thus more relaxed, they got used to how it works and it’s not that stressful anymore. Well, we know Per didn’t let Christoffer relax, but hopefully, Marie and all the other members of the band could have a rest during the past concert-free days.

The audience was not standing up, but was making lots of noise. Marie was also talking more between the songs than during the previous concerts. Well done!

There was a change in the setlist, since there was a guest artist, Pugh Rogefeldt. He and Marie performed Guldgruva, which was written (lyrics & music) by Pugh and covered by Marie on Min bäste vän. Marie was also a guest artist at Pugh’s concert in 2006.

Next show is on Sunday, 2nd March, Kalmar.

Thanks for all the info, Nina!
