Mastering engineer George Marino dies

As Ultimate Classic Rock informs, George Marino, who mastered hundreds of albums in a career of nearly 40 years at New York’s Sterling Sound – including many of Roxette’s albums, passed away yesterday. Marino died following a year-long bout with lung cancer.

“Today Sterling Sound and the music industry as a whole has suffered a tremendous loss,” Sterling Sound issued via statement. “Senior Mastering Engineer George Marino lost his battle with cancer this morning. Words cannot express the sorrow we feel. George was family to us all and we will miss him dearly.”

Roxette to play in Mexico City in September

Per Gessle already announced in Facebook in May that Roxette would play in Mexico in September.

Now the date has been officially announced by Ocesa Pop in Twitter: the concert will take place on September 19th in the Auditorio Nacional of Mexico City.

There is going to be a Banamex pre-sale on June 11 and 12. The tickets will go on sale to the public on June 13. Tickets will probably go on sale via Ticketmaster, we will confirm when we have more information.

This is going to be concert number 140 and seems to be the last concert of the tour. But is it really going to be the last one?

What can I say!! Words can’t describe this. I feel euphoria as a Roxette fan.
Euphoria is described by some as an exaggerated feeling of physical and mental well
being. This is exactly what a Rox concert is for me! Although sitting for 8 hours in
a road waiting, it was all worth it! I am amazed that Marie performed so well
tonight after a long flight from Europe! What a superwoman. The set list was the
same as the south American concerts with It’s possible from Travelling. Fantastic
song loved it. First time I saw Dea live. Great artist in her own right. One can
see she loves performing live. Per was his SUPER self as were VERY entertaining.
Loved it. Christoffer is a genius with the instruments he plays. What an
entertainer. He played “suikerbossie” a local folk song which the crowd loved. All
in all we the fans of 15 000 in attendance saw a performance that is considered
first class. We were in the company of a Swedish band that lives and breathes
music. Hopefully the band noticed the words displayed in front. ” The Beatles had
nothing on Roxette. Roxette is the Best band in the world! Leaving Johannesburg
behind tomorrow and heading to Durban for the 2nd South African concert.

Long and touching article about Roxette on DN

This is an article you cannot miss to read!

If you don’t speak Swedish, try using Google Translator. It’s really worth the reading. And have a tissue at hand, for the tears.

The reporter met Roxette in South America and writes about the tour, Marie’s story, Marie and Mikael, how Per and Marie met, Roxette’s past and present and fans. With comments from the band members, Marie Dimberg and Mikael.

Roxette to play in Sweden on June 27

One more concert has been added to the Roxette World tour: Festival Peace & Love in Borlänge, Sweden on June 27. This is the only show Roxette will give in Sweden this year (if we don’t count the corporate concert in August).

Information about tickets can be found on the Peace & Love site. Other great Swedish artists to perform in this festival are Laleh, Kent, Thåström or Soundtrack of our Lives.
