Marie Fredriksson’s new album out in November, single out this week!

TT  (Swedish news agency) has published a few more details about the release of Marie’s upcoming album. The single “Kom vila hos mig” will be out on Wednesday this week (Sept. 25) and the album “NU!” will be out end of November. Marie tells TT that she really looked forward to releasing an album in Swedish, “time goes by so fast and after I got sick I didn’t manage to do more.” As we all know, Roxette got “inbetween”: they recorded two albums and went on a world tour which started in 2010 and ended in 2012.

Marie’s husband Mikael Bolyos has written most of the songs, but they have also worked with various songwriters such as Per Gessle – as Marie revealed in an interview with us a few weeks ago -, Uno Svenningsson, Kenneth Gärdestad, Ulf Sagerström or Johan Kinde. Marie also tells that her voice has changed, “it has become darker”, but she thinks that all in all her voice has become better.

TT also reveals that Marie is working on a book about her life and that Marie already chose the author she will work with for this project. Besides that, Marie explained that Per is already writing new material for a Roxette album.

Marie also says that her only wish at the moment is to hit the road and play live, and meet her fans. This will hopefully happen next year.

Marie Fredriksson about upcoming solo album: “You can expect a typical Marie Fredriksson style”

There have been some rumours going on about a new Marie solo album the past months and specially since the recording of “Tack för musiken” last week. I had the chance to ask Marie a couple questions about the album and other topics:

RXB: First of all, how was your summer? You did some appearances like with GT at Ullevi or at Madeleine’s wedding or now the recording of “Tack för musiken”…
Marie Fredriksson:
My summer was relaxing and sunny. And GT was a great evening! Sweden and GT at its best. Madeleine asked and it was lovely to play at her wedding. I think “Tack för musiken” is a great TV show and Niklas is a great host and a good ol’ friend of mine. I was very surprised and happy to see all of you in the front rows!

RXB: There have been rumours for a long time about a solo album, what can you tell us about it?
Marie: You can expect a typical Marie Fredriksson style. The album is in Swedish.

RXB: When did you start working on it and with whom did you record the album?
Marie: I started a long time ago but a world tour came in-between. The album is produced by Micke [Bolyos] and Christoffer Lundquist. We had Mr. Pelle Alsing on drums on a couple of tracks. Jens Jansson and Christer Jansson played drums too. Then Christoffer Lundquist played bass and guitar, so did Staffan Astner and Jokke Pettersson. Ola Gustavsson [who was at “Tack för musiken” as well] played guitar and pedal string. Micke played keyboards and did some programming together with Christoffer.

RXB: and who wrote the songs?
Marie: I wrote one song, Per [Gessle] wrote one song too and the rest are written by Micke, mostly together with different lyricists.

RXB: There were also rumours about a solo tour… so we are wondering if and when?
Marie: Definitely not during 2013. Maybe 2014, but nothing is decided yet, so I cannot tell you more at this stage. But I love to tour, it’s the best I know!

RXB: What are you doing nowadays when you are not busy with music?
Marie: I am painting, relaxing and having fun. I love to be close to my family.

We are very much looking forward to the album (and tour)!!

#gtsommar #4 – Gyllene Tider rocked Ullevi – front row report

P-U-R-E A-W-E-S-O-M-E-N-E-S-S! This is how I can summarize Gyllene Tider’s gig in Ullevi, Gothenburg. The whole show was really awesome: magical sound, the Fab Five in top top top shape, fantastic setlist, joyful mood on and off stage, great crowd AND Marie joining the guys on stage towards the end of the last song, ”När alla vännerna gått hem”. It was so touching when Per went off stage for coming back with Marie. The reaction of the crowd can’t be described. It was fantastic!!! Tears of happiness all around.

Ullevi was not sold-out, but 5 golden guys + 1 amazon + those 42 223 fans who attended the concert made everyone feel like it was a sold-out gig. One-of-a-kind show, that’s for sure, but we wouldn’t mind if it would happen again during the tour.

Ullevi setlist (thanx to Eliza Roszkowska Öberg for showing it)

Some more things to add:

  • There was no GT curtain, as Ullevi stage was much bigger than any of the stages during the tour, so after the cartoon, the guys just came on stage and started performing ”Det blir aldrig som man tänkt sej”, which was an ass-kicking opener. During the soundcheck we could hear that the order of the first 2 songs will be changed.
  • This time ”Flickan i en Cole Porter-sång” was not performed by Micke Syd, but by Per.
  • Crowd reaction was fantastic during the whole show and before the extras the audience went crazy.
  • Last but not least: it turned out that front row can be reached without running and all we need for this is acting as adults and a great organizer. Thanx to Jimmy & Co. for their support in it.
  • Oh! And there were fireworks again at the end of the concert.

Per some moments before Marie appeared on stage; Blurred pic of Marie; Blurred pic of Marie & Per – sorry for the blurred ones… It was so touching that I just couldn’t concentrate enough.

It was the best GT gig so far and I doubt it can be topped. Congrats, guys!

We hope to see Marie again (& again & again)! 😉

Marie Fredriksson sings at the Swedish royal wedding

We got to know a couple of days ago that Marie Fredriksson and her husband Mikael Bolyos would attend the wedding of Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill today in Stockholm, but we were all surprised when Marie started to sing at the wedding ceremony.

She sang “Ännu doftar kärlek”, with Micke on the piano.  The whole performance was very beautiful and touching. See by yourself!

You can find pictures of the performance on our Facebook page and follow the wedding on SVT Play from all around the world.

You can see the performance on SVT Play too.

[Update June 10] There is a short interview with Marie on SVT about her performing “Ännu doftar kärlek” at the wedding.
