Comment

There were not too many familiar faces at the concert tonight, but as Nina Wolfframm informs on FB, the show was the best so far, a million times better than e.g. Helsingborg. Most probably, after the first 3 concerts Marie and the band feel safer, thus more relaxed, they got used to how it works and it’s not that stressful anymore. Well, we know Per didn’t let Christoffer relax, but hopefully, Marie and all the other members of the band could have a rest during the past concert-free days.

The audience was not standing up, but was making lots of noise. Marie was also talking more between the songs than during the previous concerts. Well done!

There was a change in the setlist, since there was a guest artist, Pugh Rogefeldt. He and Marie performed Guldgruva, which was written (lyrics & music) by Pugh and covered by Marie on Min bäste vän. Marie was also a guest artist at Pugh’s concert in 2006.

Next show is on Sunday, 2nd March, Kalmar.

Thanks for all the info, Nina!

Interview with Marie Fredriksson before Visby show

Hela Gotland (Annika Jansson) did an e-mail interview with Ms Effe before her concert in Visby (28th February).

About Gotland she says it’s a nice island and she is looking forward to deepening her relationship with it. She has never played there before. Marie says she has been longing for singing in Swedish again. The absolute best thing about performing live is meeting and get close to the audience.

To the question if it is different touring now to touring before her illness she replied today she takes it easy, one thing at a time and puts energy in the right thing at the right time. She is constantly trying to enjoy the ”present”.

Regarding Nu! she says she felt like “finally!!!!”, when it was finished. She is very proud of the whole album and the one and only song, Sista sommarens  vals written by her. Right now her favourite song off the album is Kom vila hos mig, especially live.

In the setlist during the tour everyone will find their own favourite MF songs, there are new and old ones. Hela Gotland asked if there is any song she can’t leave out, since the audience demands hearing it. She said there are more songs like this, but especially Sparvöga. Regarding the arrangement she says she has an amazing band with her, so both the up-tempo songs and the ballads sound great.

Marie informs she will stay in Gotland only for 1 day, but plans to come back for a private stay during summer.

To the question if she has any hidden talents she replied:

I can identify many birds when they are singing…

Comment

The first 2 rows (mostly international fans) stood up during the concert and tried to make the Swedes stand up, but it didn’t work as in Örebro, only during Mellan sommar och höst they joined the party. Marie and the band were again happy to see the fans in the front rows having fun and enjoying the concert so much and Christoffer and Jokke did a great job with the guitars.

Next show is next Friday, 28th February, Visby. So there will be a little time for Ms Effe and the guys to rest and a little time for the audience to shape up.

Watching some videos from the first concert also those who couldn’t attend the show could hear Marie was in top shape. One thing I was missing badly: the singing along. And actually, I was wondering if the audience sitting still was because of the theater atmosphere and being a seated concert in Sweden. I’ve never attended such a concert, so I started thinking OK, this might be the right behaviour and I’ll have to get used to it when I’m there to see Marie live. BUT luckily, today’s show proved that even if it’s a theater event, there are those songs that do make you stand up and dance and sing along and clap your hands. Efter stormen and Mellan sommar och höst were 2 of those songs this time. Check the instavideo below!

According to fans who were there, today’s show was even better than the fabulous premiere concert. Marie and the band were in very good mood and Marie liked the audience standing up and dancing. So, let’s keep it up!

Marie Fredriksson’s first concert was a spectacular start of the series of 19 concerts across Sweden. In the city of Helsingborg – as she calls herself as a “hometown” she performed in front of 800-900 people in the Konserthus (philharmonic). There were 18 songs performed and Marie and the band conquered the stage for about 90 minutes. Some of songs were sang for the very first time in the Marie’s touring history – including 2 singles off 2013 “Nu!” – “Kom vila hos mig” and “Sista sommarens vals” as well as  Swedish version of “A table in the sun” from 2007 ballad compilation known as “Ett bord i solen” or second single off “I en tid som vår” – “Ber bara en gång”.  The most popular album during the concert was 1992’s “Den ständiga resan” and after that come 1987’s “Efter Stormen” and 1985’s “Den sjunde vågen” with 3 songs each. The biggest suprise was the lack of Marie’s only #1 single “Där du andas” from 2008 as well as her last tour’s hit “Äntligen”.

Concert generated raving reviews in Swedish media – Aftonbladet gave 4/5 and called the band “magical” and the concert as “full of startled emotions” with 3/5 from both Expressen and HD.se. Marie mentioned her fight with cancer just before “Ett bord i solen”. She also dedicated one of songs during the gig to her father Gösta Fredriksson.
