It’s official: new Gyllene Tider album and tour!

According to the latest HallandsPosten.se article we have the very first official confirmation of the coming Gyllene Tider tour around Sweden and a new album in 9 years from Mr Gessle himself. At this point 18 concerts are planned and the tour schedule will be announced on the 22nd of January. The new album called “Dags att tänka på refrängen” will consist of 12 songs and it is being recorded in Christoffer Lundquist’s studio in Scania. The title can be both translated as “It’s time to think about the chorus” but also it’s a Swedish idiom meaning “It’s time to start thinking about quitting or going home” according to native speakers at The Daily Roxette. It also seems like that the tour will be called “LIVE 2013 – Dags att tänka på refrängen”, but this is not confirmed yet.

UPDATE #1:

In Aftonbladet story – some concert places are revealed. The tour should start in Kalmar according to various sources and Gyllene Tider will play in Slottsskogsvallen in Gothenburg, instead of Ullevi stadium. Of course, GT home town Halmstad is also in the schedule.

Goran Fritzon in the Swedish Radio interview said that album is ready in 75% and that the tour will take off on July 5 in… Halmstad! This would make Aftonbladet rumours false.

UPDATE #2:

HN.se has published another story on the new album and tour. Gyllene Tider has recorded 12 songs in 10 days and they plan to record 2 more, though only 12 will make the album. All songs are newly written except an old pearl from 1978. It seems like Per agreed to do a tour with GT already in the summer 2012 after he knew when Roxette tour would be over. A big differance from “Fin Fem Fel” will be that all songs are written specially for this project, not as before when 1/3 tracks were “Mazarin” left-overs.

Per Gessle of Gyllene Tider talking about new album: “Album will include a lot of three-minute hits. Shorts songs, a lot of positive energy with guitar and Farfisa-organ in the centre. It sounds like Buzzcocks meeting Green Day after they partied with a little too much of Red Bull”. And for those who know Swedish proverbs, you shouldn’t read the album’s title as a farewell, according to Mr Gessle.

Clarence Öfwerman and Christoffer Lundquist are producers behind the album, but all guys are involved in the album making process.

CD, colour LP album and the first single are planned to be released in the spring time with no exact date at this point.

Gyllene Tider is back!

Well, at least Gyllene Tider is back with a new facebook page – as The Daily Roxette informed earlier today. The page has already reached more than 23 000 fans in 1 day, after it’s been published.

GT

A cover picture was set on GT’s page with Per Gessle in the front, while all other members of Gyllene Tider (Micke Syd Andersson, Göran Fritzon, Anders Herrlin and Mats MP Persson) appeared a bit blurred in the background. EMI asked to remove that photo, so now you can only find it here and there on facebook or if you were quick enough, you could save it to your hard drive. 😉

First rumours about a possible GT album and tour appeared last year when Roxette was still touring. We also wrote several articles about it. Here you can see what Per’s reaction was to all the rumours and Expressen’s article. So, should we still hold our horses or will there be anything happening to save money for this Juni, juli, augusti?

New Gessle solo album?

According to an article on Aftonbladet, Per Gessle is going to start recording a new solo album soon, “I have booked a studio for a solo album,” he tells Aftonbladet.

The reporter asks him about the rumous about a Gyllene Tider comeback next year, to what Per answers it’s a 50-50 chance that there will be a tour. “We have talked about it for many years, it’s not easy to come back. I think it’s a fantastic pop band, but it’s not in my hands.” He also explains that the other GT members are booked for other things, so it would be a lot of shifting and replanning to make it true.

He also tells that he doesn’t think the songs he wrote for his solo album could work with Gyllene Tider “It’s two different things”.

Per is not sure if a solo tour could be an alternative, “I don’t know, we thought of doing something with Roxette in 2014 so it might be good to take it easy,” and adds, joking, “I am not 50 anymore”.

My personal comment: In any case, 2013 is surely going to be an interesting year – and I don’t believe the “take it easy” part of it.

Idea for Gyllene Tider supporting act: Brainpool?

This is going to be a blog entry, no news this time.

Last week, there was yet another article on Expressen about Gyllene Tider going on tour (or not) next year. Of course, we still don’t know if it’s true or not, but this doesn’t stop us from starting to plan in our heads and be creative, now that we are “bored” (and saving $$) without a Roxette tour going on.

So we start chatting about a possible tour with my friends and what comes out of it? I start thinking I would probably go to some GT concerts but ? as many as Rox? what would be a special incentive for that? Right! what if Brainpool would be the supporting act for Gyllene Tider (next year or in 2 years, who cares)?

So that, Per please, pass it on to whoever should take this decision or keep it in mind yourself. The guys at Brainpool already revealed they are working on a new album. Wouldn’t it be a great evening, listening to two of the best bands in Sweden?

Quite some seem to support this idea on FB (you have to be member of the group to read) already.
And if not, let’s hope that Brainpool tours Sweden anyway!

Gyllene Tider new album and tour next year?

Per Gessle tells in an interview with Expressen that he now wants to write in Swedish again and the best way to do it is with Gyllene Tider. This means new album and tour with Gyllene Tider, “maybe next year,” tells Per to Expressen.

He also comments that there will be more of this “new” Roxette (current Roxette set-up), even though he doesn’t mention when.

See you in Sweden (probably) next year!

Update: Per clarifies:

Hold your horses!!!!! Guess this reporter jumped the gun a bit. No decisions made that I know of. Sorry to disappoint.
