Gyllene Tider featuring other artists throughout the years

It is one of my hobbies to keep a sort of database of Swedish artists and their connections. It is a fact that there are many many artists in Sweden, and many of them have worked together at a certain point in their career. I think specially the time of the 70ies – 80ies was a period of many collaborations. I started with this many years ago and I am trying to bring my paper-excel database into a better platform. Who knows where this will end.

I also have to mention that the fact that I started to listen to the Swedish Per & Marie material opened the doors for me to other Swedish music and some of these artists have become a fix part of my music collection. And this collection is growing year after year.

Gyllene Tider is, of course, no exception, so I wanted to share part of these findings here.

Marie Fredriksson – Sang backing vocals on  “The Heartland Café” and duet with GT “Ingenting av vad du behöver” from “Puls”. She also sang “Vandrar i ett sommarregn” with GT on TV and joined GT on stage a couple of times before. On the other side, GT also joined Roxette in 2010 in Halmstad.

  

Eva Dahlgren – sang “Vandrar i ett sommarregn” in “Puls”. As far as I know, GT never played this song (or any other) live together. It’s about time!

Niklas Strömstedt – sang “Da’n före da’n” with Gyllene Tider, taken from Glitter, glögg & rock ‘n’ roll. Played as musician and sang backing vocals on “The Heartland Café” and other albums. On his TV program “Tack för musiken” he and Lasse Winnerbäck performed “Honung och guld”.

 

Christoffer Lundquist – Produced Gyllene Tider’s albums “Fin 5 Fel” and “Det är dags att tänka på refrängen”. Ex member of Brainpool. Brainpool and Gyllene Tider sang “My Sweet Lord (she’s so fine)” on TV together.

Wilmer X – joined GT on stage during Återtåget, sung “Marie i växeln” together. They also formed The Lonely Boys together with some of the GT-ers in 1995.

 

Anne-Lie Rydé – “When Love Is On The Phone” from “The Heartland Café”.

Lasse Lindbom – produced many GT songs and albums. He also recorded some songs written by Per, he performed “För dina bruna ögon skull” on Melodifestivalen in 1980. The song is also recorded by GT.

Clarence Öfwerman – like Christoffer, produced Gyllene Tider’s albums “Fin 5 Fel” and “Det är dags att tänka på refrängen”.

Gyllene Tider on TV4 during the next 2 weeks

Jesper Börjesson – TV4 reporter – informed today in a chat on expressen.se that there will be a long report about Gyllene Tider in TV4’s Nyhetsmorgon next Saturday. As you may remember, Jesper visited the guys in Halmstad (Tylösand) on 10th April (press day), so they made a report that will be on air from 10:15 CET on 27th April. You can watch it here worldwide.

Next appearance of GT on TV4 will be on 1st May in ”Humorgalan”. ”Humorgalan” is a charity show in collaboration with UNICEF and this is the 11th consecutive year TV4 is collaborating and broadcasts it live. Judging from last year’s Humorgalan, Gyllene Tider will most probably perform one or two songs during the show. Broadcast starts at 20:00 CET.

 

 

Gyllene Tider press conference 18th April, 2013

We already informed you about some rumours regarding Gyllene Tider changing the venue in Gothenburg. Today, on a press conference it has been confirmed: GT rocks Ullevi on 12th July! Woohoo! 🙂

Slottsskogensvallen was already sold out (20,000 tickets) and Per said they don’t know if Ullevi will be sold out as well, but it doesn’t matter, the gig will be magical anyway. Micke Syd thinks it’s fantastic that they get the chance to do something they never thought would happen again.

The broadcast’s sound was too bad at the beginning but it got better and better and then ended soon. You can watch it here.

Fingers crossed for a sold out Ullevi, however, we will have fun anyway! 😉

Gyllene Tider releases “Dags att tänka på refrängen” on April 24th and as expected, you will have the chance to meet the 5 mighty guys from Halmstad and get your copy of the album signed.

New-old Gyllene Tider sound charmed Swedish press

Today both Aftonbladet (Jens Peterson) and Expressen (Anders Nunstedt) have published their reviews of Gyllene Tider’s 6th studio album, Dags att tänka på refrängen. It’s not a surprise reading a positive review in Aftonbladet, but Mr. Nunstedt positively shocked most of the fans – and I guess non-fans as well. Some lyckopiller might have been involved while he was listening to the album. 😉

According to Aftonbladet, Per Gessle wants you to clap your hands, your knees to be swinging and your mouth to be giggling. Well, what else? Don’t you feel the same with each Gyllene Tider album? Dags att tänka på refrängen – in Expressen’s opinion – is an energetic and playful album, full of ingenious melodies and smart arrangements. However, Anders Nunstedt adds he is curious whether the album grows even stronger after a few more listenings, as one of Gyllene Tider’s strengths has always been their ability to make a strong first impression.

Aftonbladet writes there is nostalgia and tributes to record stores and pop heroes. We already know Bob Dylan appears in the first track, but be sure there is some David Bowie, too. All 3 songs that we could have a listen to yet are full of typical Gessle rhymes and reading the reviews, there is much more to come.

You can find everything on this album from melancholically beautiful to uptempo party songs and from catchy pop candy to charming spaghetti western. “Lyckopiller” seems to be the one and only ballad. According to Nunstedt it’s a romantic piano ballad à la the classic GT concept, even if the song makes a trip to SOAP-land. “Knallpulver” is the only instrumental track and Mr. Nunstedt suggests the publisher to send it to Quentin Tarantino. Wow! What a great idea! After Small Apartments soundtrack everything is possible in hot hot Hollywood. 😉

In the title track, ”Dags att tänka på refrängen”, Per sounds young and life-affirming, says Jens Peterson. Anders Nunstedt says Mr. Gessle is singing duet with himself through the left and right speakers. It seems to be a good choice to end the short short short short short journey the album provides with its 38-minute length.

Expressen writes 10 of 12 tracks sound like they are written to be performed live. So, what about a medley this summer? DATPR compact. Well, maybe a medley with 8 of these 10 songs and ”Det blir aldrig som man tänkt sej”, as well as ”Chikaboom (#2)” as separate songs in the setlist.
