Marie’s tour: Uppsala audio bootleg

After Norrköping audio and Göteborg and Halmstad video bootlegs, another audio bootleg showed up from Uppsala (19th March 2014). The sound is low, so turn up the volume to hear it better. Thanks a lot for sharing it, Bianca Martins Cappelletti from Roxette Brasil! In audio bootlegs I always enjoy the talking between the songs the most. Click here for the bootleg.

2 shows left from the tour, Friday in Luleå and Saturday in Umeå. Enjoy the concerts you all who are joining!

Another surprise for Record Store Day

As Per posted about it on Roxette Official some weeks ago, a surprise was coming for Record Store Day. When it was announced some days ago that a limited edition ”The Look” vinyl will be released on Record Store Day in Sweden, we thought that it’s a great surprise for us Roxers. But now it turns out that besides the beautiful, limited edition, 25th anniversary ”The Look” red vinyl (1000 copies) there is another surprise for this year’s RSD. We are spoiled and we love it! Per Gessle also releases a limited edition 7” vinyl called “The Per Gessle Archives”. So limited that only 500 copies will be available!

Finnish Record Shop X states that the limited edition PG vinyl is in their stores from 19th April (Record Store Day everywhere except Sweden…, where it is 26th April), but on CDON you can see it’s available from 26th April. Ginza states no date, Bengans hasn’t listed it yet.

KIMB_LC_Per_GessleThe vinyl is featuring 2 songs from a forthcoming box set:

Side A – Kvar i min bil
Per wrote this song for Tomas Alfredson’s film, “Låt den rätte komma in”(= “Let the Right One In”). It has never been released, but is loved by all Mr. G fans. Listen to the song here.

Side B – Loud Clothes
For a Roxette album Per writes about 25 songs and then selects those that fit. “Loud Clothes” was written for “Have A Nice Day” in 1998. An interesting thing is that in May 2010 a fan asked Per on Facebook what’s up with some of the never released songs listed under his name in the BMI repertoire and “Loud Clothes” was among them. Per replied LC is a pretty decent one. “I/We might use them some day.” Now he is using it. Yay!

So, who knows what else shows up on the box set! According to Ginza, the title of the box set is “The Per Gessle Archives” and will be released on 24th September 2014, but both pieces of information haven’t been confirmed yet. It’s not yet known whether it’s going to be a vinyl box set or it will be available in CD version, too. Fingers crossed for all fans who want to get hold of these limited edition goodies.

Update by Judith: as one can see on the Finnish website, the single will be released by Cosmos Music Group, you may remember Per became co-owner and board member of the company about a year ago.

Marie interviews before Gävle and Västerås concerts

Gefle Dagblad (GD) & Vestmanlands Läns Tidning (VLT) did e-mail interviews with Marie before the concerts in Gävle and Västerås.

GD.seStefan Andersson from GD asked Marie about the tour and Marie said it’s been better than she ever dared to hope for. The special memory she will take with herself from the tour is the audience’s immense response. To the question which her most beloved song is now she replied “Sista sommarens vals”. The reporter asked her if she would perform “Sparvöga” och “Ännu doftar kärlek” if the audience would be crying out for them. She said they don’t even have to cry out for these songs.

GD asked Marie about how it is working so closely with Micke. Miss Effe said:

“Wonderful! We’ve been working together for so long now, both in the studio and live. He’s an awesome musician and songwriter.”

Regarding her plans for summer she informed she’ll go on vacation and have a rest. Recovery after the tour.

To the question when we will see Roxette again she replied soon, she hopes. Also mentions that her favourite song from The Look era is Dangerous, because it’s so great to perform it live.

She also said that it’s an honor that they are among the first ones in The Swedish Music Hall of Fame.

Regarding Gävle, she remembered Roxette performed there in Folkets Park, in 1987 and it was great one for them.

vlt.seSylvia Kadri from VLT asked Marie about how tough the tour is and if there are any tricks to get into shape before the concerts. Marie said they play mostly during the weekends so she recovers herself during the week. Walking, sleeping and eating well. And she gets an enormous energy from the band and the audience.

To the question how cancer changed her life Marie replied she takes everything easy and tries to avoid any kind of stress. She is grateful that she lives and feels joy in so many things that she previously took for granted. She said as an artist she changed like it takes longer time to write music, but her voice has matured and gotten a different depth. To the question what she is doing to keep herself healthy she replied she takes it easy. Eating, sleeping and spending time with family and friends are very important.

The reporter asked her what is inspiring her nowadays. Marie said the nature. She loves sitting in her garden and listening to the birds this time of the year.

Regarding what music she is listening to she said Joni Mitchell remains important in her life and Jimi Hendrix is always with her. Rufus Wainright is a new inspiration for Marie.

She didn’t want to talk about her big dream projects, but the future is more about resting than hectic tour life. Now she is looking very much forward to summer.

Gyllene Tider’s energetic company gig

Yesterday (better said today) at about 0:45 am CET, out of the blue there was a post on Roxette Official written by Per that Gyllene Tider gave a 1-hour-long concert at Berns in Stockholm. My first thought was: WTF? I’ve just come home from there and now they are playing in the city? Then I realized it must have been a company gig. And it was. GT’s first ever. The association they played for is Dagligvaruleverantörers Förbund (DLF). The firm held its annual meeting at Berns and they also celebrated their 45th anniversary. They mentioned on their Facebook page GT was a world-class entertainment and those were truly golden times yesterday (“Det var verkligen Gyllene Tider igår.”). Lately we can be sure it is worth working at a huge Swedish company or association. Earlier Roxette on an Oriflame meeting and now this.

Per himself shared the setlist on Roxette Official (still nothing on GT’s FB site, however, there are surely many GT fans who are not reading the posts by Roxette):

1. Juni, juli, augusti
2. Det hjärta som brinner
3. Puls
4. (Dansar inte lika bra som) Sjöman
5. Marie i växeln
6. Ljudet av ett annat hjärta
7. Ska vi älska, så ska vi älska till Buddy Holly
8. (Kom så ska vi) Leva livet
9. Tylö Sun

Extra:
10. Gå & fiska!
11. När alla vännerna gått hem

”Extra extra due to the extremely loud noise from the very generous crowd”:
12. Sommartider

We could only see some photos on Instagram from this event, but thank God someone shot a video, too and shared it on YouTube. You can see how energetic (Kom så ska vi) Leva livet was. Wow! They played only half of the amount of songs they played on tour, they didn’t have any rehearsals, only a quick sound check before the show, but the guys performed just like in a fully packed arena last summer. As Per says, these songs are in their DNA. True. They need a tour again!!! We need it, too!

Thanks to Miss Dimberg, there is also a photo and a video (part of Puls) posted by Per on Roxette Official. DLF associates, I hope you know and appreciate how lucky you are!

Marie’s tour: Linköping, 5th April #14

MF_LKPAfter Halmstad concert I was definitely longing for more shows and now I had the chance to come back to Sweden and see the concert in Linköping. Since those fans who were there yesterday said Borås concert was amazing, I expected a fabulous show tonight, too. And it was indeed a fabulous concert.

Marie and the band enjoy being on stage during this tour more and more by every show. It feels so good to see that, even when people in the crowd in rows from row No. 4 are not really reacting. Marie’s voice was in a perfect shape, as well as all the instruments and their players. The audience? Well… No one could ever explain it to me why Swedes act like how they are acting during such concerts. There are, of course, exceptions (e.g. Växjö, Göteborg, Halmstad), but the Swedish part of most of the crowds during this tour is… I just can’t understand them. Why is it so difficult to stand up? They can’t even see the stage if we are standing and dancing and jumping in the first 3 or so rows and they are sitting, so no clue why they can’t join us. OK, if they don’t stand up, they could at least clap according to the ”choreography” Surjo, Micke or Marie are showing on stage during some songs. That would be so easy. Anyway, Marie enjoyed the reaction of the first rows and we are very happy about it. As usual.

MF_LKP_end_with_heartsInternational fans stood up already during Kom vila hos mig, but this time we missed out on standing up at Så länge det lyser mittemot, however the song would have wanted us to do so. At Efter stormen nothing could stop us, we stood up again and had a great party. After the break, Marie came back and we stood up again. It was just then when the Swedes stood up, too. They seemed to like Mellan sommar och höst. Then we sat down and towards the end of Tro, we stood up again. Then Marie also showed the audience to stand up, but first they were not reacting. After some moments they realized they should also stand up, so they did so. Phew.

At the end of the concert, Russian fans threw their red, heart-shaped balloons to the stage and Jokke and Micke were playing with them as if those would have been their hearts, beating. It was lovely.

The venue was not really full. There were 3 rows in the very front, where normally the orchestra has its place, but now there were seats. Even there were some empty places, so those fans, who could buy tickets only for the 5th-7th rows could come to the front and party there. This was the first time I was sitting in a seat from where I could see Pelle, too during the whole concert. On other concerts I was sitting in one of the first 3 rows, but in the middle, so he was hiding behind the cymbals and Marie. Tonight he was the best at the end of Den sjunde vågen, teasing the guys with his playing the drums like he didn’t want to end that part. It sounded brilliant.

After the show we were waiting for Marie and the guys outside the venue. There we met Pelle and Jokke and chatted with them. As Jokke saw it was again the international fans coming to say hi, he asked: ”Where are the Swedes?” It said it all. They surely went home to sleep after being so tired of sitting still. We got to know they are travelling to Stockholm still tonight. After some time a guy came out to tell us there wouldn’t be time for pictures or autographs, we could only say goodbye to Marie and the band. That was of course enough for us. First Pelle, Jokke and Surjo came out, then Chris and Micke. Micke asked us: ”Plus or minus?” (How we would evaluate the concert.) We said it was an extra plus. He said it was one of the best concerts. For us, each concert is one of the bests that’s for sure. And we have to agree with him thinking about what happened on stage. There everything was perfect and it was really one of the best shows. Marie was the last who came out. She thanked us for being there and told us: “See you in Stockholm!” Oh yeah! We’re going to be there! Everyone was sitting in the minibus already and they were waiting for Pelle to smoke his cigarette. He didn’t want to leave and said he would rather stay and drink a beer with us. Before sitting in, he said: “OK, I drive!” Some of us reacted simultaneously: “No, please don’t!” Haha. Marie and the guys were waving goodbye and headed towards Stockholm.

One band member stayed here. You probably guessed it. Chris has some studio time booked by a certain guy for tomorrow, so he couldn’t join the others. We had a nice chat with him and I also asked him about the Brainpool album that was supposed to be out this April. He said he didn’t really have time for that, but it seems they will have some recordings in June. Good luck with it, Chris, David and Jens! Send Per on holidays in June!

Hopefully, there will be an “A.n.o.t.h.e.r. a.i.r.p.o.r.t.” update on Roxette Official after the studio time starting tomorrow is over. 😉 Next concert is on Tuesday (8th April) in Stockholm and it’s gonna be splendido!
